  1. i dont think you can always tell if a dogs going to be hard or soft mouthed with a rabbit until its actually caught one or two. ive herd some people say dogs with pink gums will be soft mouthed and the dogs with alot of black in there gums will be hard mouthed. another tale i was tolled when i was a kid was if you rolled a none boiled egg across the lawn and the dog retrieved it without cracking the shell he/she was going to be soft mouthed. had a dog do this with a egg and it and he smashed a rabbit to feck.
  2. is it both day and night shooting available?
  3. WHY. it dont effect working ability, and as long as the dog is catching plenty wheres the problem. i would rather have one that catches plenty and yapps a little every now and again than a fecker thats dont make a sound and catches next to feck all. Of course it effects their working ability ... A dog yapping is using up energy and tiring itself out quicker ......... how much?
  4. we dont have takeaways much in our house at all, having said that ive just shared a 12" pizza with a large chips which was dilivered to the house for £10 i bloody enjoyed that as i cant remember the lastime we had a pizza.

  6. liked the first vid makes me realize why i like abit of lamping good bit of sport that. the secound vid makes me chuckle.
  7. millet was there any of the bitches you regretted having done because they turned out to be good enough stock to breed off?
  8. i thought it was fecking shit to be honest.
  9. a mate of mine has one and he said it is certainly alot clearer light than the standard lamps however he said in his opinion they were not any good for lamping rabbits as you have a slight delay from when you press the switch until you see the beam. as has already been said he seems to think it would be good for larger quarry. to be honest i can see more than i can bloody catch with my lightforce lance lamp.
  10. i start my dogs off young also got a photo in my album of the dog i am running at the moement with rabbits he had caught on the lamp at 5 months and one week old. hes doing o.k and is just under 3 years old. the whippering i personally dont consider being a problem as long as the dog is catching plenty of game then it aint effecting anything. some dogs that are started later on in life yap or whimper also.
  11. The pup appears to be doing o.k. however imo some of the fields didnt appear to have the best of hedges/fences to get a pup going, but having said that you can only lamp the ground you can. good luck with the pup in the future. good vid mate. i am looking forward to the future progress reports.
  12. ive been out myself tonight its done nothing but sleet/snow havent seen a great deal about but what i have caught has been in fine fettle, fat and healthy. got on some banks to try and work some dryer ground but the dog was slipping all to feck on the turn.
  13. ive taken a couple of quick pics with my new 600d today and i think me and you are in for some serious competition

  15. my old dog is the same mate hes 9 now and on the odd few occasions i take him out now hes still the same.
  16. ive been out with dogs that get fed on raw rabbits regular and they have been soft mouthed, so i wouldnt have thought so.
  17. ive got a striker 140 lamp which i put the striker 170 lense on at times and personaly i think they are o.k. i run a 30 watt bulb in my lamp
  18. the old dog ive got now use to take feather until i was visiting someone and he come trotting out of there pigeon loft as proud as punch with one of there top racing pigeons. he had to be corrected for his efforts and never took feather again even. if he was working with other lurchers that caught them he wouldnt touch a bird. now my younger dog will hunt up pheaseant in the day but hasnt caught any yet. however he will take partridge in the lamp and out of it if he scents some near by whilst out lamping. i grew up with a lab lurcher and she was the best feather lurcher ive ever seen.
  19. feck me ray youve got to much time on your hands since injurying your shoulder
  20. i use your standard british army camo net. my mate has a tank net and it makes a good size hide for 2 and can still be doubled up to make it thick enough to darken you off.
  21. thanks for the advice everyone. i will be needing alot more help in the near future, ive just got back home with my new 600d from curries only went to have a look and feel of the camera and got a little carried away and bought the fecking thing lol. misses didnt look to pleased with me spending the money when the garden needs some money spending on it.
  22. the secound half is on in 5 minutes ronnie is looking good to win with the score being 7 frames to 1 in ronnies favour. theres one thing you can say about selby is he will fight it out to the end. ronnie is on good form and is making some cracking pots. i am looking forward to watching it.
  23. i agree. if you did get them lined up like that there feet and legs wouldnt be so uniform, imo they are far to neat and tidy to be stood facing like that.
