  1. thats only one nights lamping what you going to catch the rest of the season lol. theres nice amount there, your lucky . by all accounts after speaking to one or two folk in my area the rabbits are having a good time of breeding this year, which is just aswell because numbers were down last season after the wet year we had.
  2. if theres one thing ive learnt about dogs and thats dont judge them by there looks. ive seen some right mongrel looking things out in the field perform well, on the other hand ive seen the raciest smartest looking dogs out in the field and they are just simply shit.
  3. he looks different there ray. the new season is fast apraoching and he will be a good age to start the season.
  4. i never run my dogs from a slip always off. imo it saves alot of time and fecking about putting a dog back on the lead, also a good lamp dog should be able to work the beam. from anywhere in the field when it has missed its rabbit it should be able to go to straight back to the end of the beem if you happen to put it onto another rabbit anywhere in the field.
  5. dont know of any cheap vets in south wales, i thought the jab wasnt that expensive from them its just there consultancy fee which is a fecker. i got 2 jills done by my vets earlier this year and it was £25 for the lot. it was £5.50 a ferret for the jab and £14 consultancy fee.
  6. i know one thing i will never forget the feeling i used to get when i reached or looked into a nest and discovered eggs as a kid. egg hunting passed many a hour away for me when i was a kid.
  7. thats what i thought when i read the topic title.
  8. nice looking pups them mike, good luck rehomeing them.
  9. whats your money on socks? ive never seen people hunt with birds so i dont know feck all about it. a good experiencend ferreting dog would be on a bolting rabbit quick though.
  10. greyhounds dont always swell alot, in my experience they can difficult to mate for that reason. a very experienced stud dog helps alot especially if its her first ever mateing.
  11. mis read the post so ive edited it.
  12. havent seen many squabs as of yet although i am sure there is plenty about.
  13. Them wolves dont eat Redmills or Gain complete . . . This is whats puzzling to me. . . Should we use both RAW and complete...this seems the way most are doing it. I havnt given my pup any complete so far from 8 weeks old...its been totally RAW and she,s looking well on it..But I also worry that im not doing her the best I possibly can by not giving her some Complete too...? I've been looking upon Minced chicken carcass as the complete (kibble) part of the diet and then adding beef/lamb/rabbit/chicken livers / fish and lots of lamb/mutton fat plus assorted raw veggies I've been mixing
  14. as has allready been said they are probably on the clover. i have been walking a patch of ground (grass with cattle on) with the air riffle over the past week and a half and the pigeons have built up from about 20 to a good 100+
  15. true mate. imo you shouldnt need to carry a marsbar with you. seen dogs drop before double figures have been caught, mars bars are for me lol but sometimes will give the dog one tried feeding the dog a light meal a good few hours before never ran the same so seems to work for me
  16. true mate. imo you shouldnt need to carry a marsbar with you. seen dogs drop before double figures have been caught,
  17. Out of interest how long have they not eaten for when you lamp them? That morning or the night before? Cheers. night before ive seen one or two dogs collapse on nights out and start fitting and they have all been run on right empty stomachs.
  18. always feed my dogs a few hours before i go lamping the dog i run at the moement likes to be fed 6 hours before i go out. always feed them a good meal as soon as i get back in aswell.
  19. perhaps you should have tittled the topic dog worrying, as the ewe dont look worried to me lol.
  20. never had a problem with the batteries, always had problems with the fecking conectors. never had any problems with the lithium charger either.
  21. good old thl lol. omg its something different, they cant possible be anygood. shot down in flames by all the experts in that cross. a bit pricey admittley but theres no reason you couldnt take one ferreting.
  22. i enjoy the winter months because i can get out and do a shit load of lamping and ferreting. the countdown to winter has started and to be honest i am looking forward to it. roll on hunting season
  23. i have recently brought a pre charged bsa hornet 22 pellet gun. never had a pre charged before and i am impressed. however although i am killing alot of stuff with the gun, i am finding that the odd pellet is straying well out of zero. i am using accu pells and was just wondering if anyone is familiar with the bsa hornet and could recomend a decent pellet to try. thanks trigger2
  24. ive just brought one 3 days ago but the 22 version. i have found it to be very accurate and have killed a bit of stuff with it already. mines got the whierhach silencer on it and is very quiet compared to my matesw ultra. i looked at a ultra but come back with the hornet as it just felt a nicer gun.
