Minshaw Dogs, Is There Such A Thing?
paulsmithy83 replied to Suzy Ross's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Tbh I think the new line of collie cur well say new but last 20yrs should really be carrying the mans name who put the effort in to producing the line. Should be carrying Andy's tag tbh Minshaw himself stopped running the line in 90's I think , Andy might be able to clarify. It's Andy who has took them in the direction they've gone. not minshaws but Andy's line hope that makes sense haha cos it don't to me reading it back -
Funny tho lots of dogs even from pups will never fetch balls bottles toys. My saluki has never had interest in anything dead to retrieve. So no fetch being taught there lol but no need to panic . I always play tug with pups and drill that *hold* command. Good way to train as there having fun and Great way to bond as dog in drive which is what it will be in field. Also to be safe train *dead* command as a release command to be safe. It's a way my fam have trained the retrieve for all the generations and I can only think of 1 dog out of say 20 that hasn't retrieved properly to hand none of this

Recall is massive with retrieve. Said it all the time no recall no retrieve. For dogs that don't want retrieve there nifty way to train it. two commands should be used . First hold, (teach this around garden/house) then when caught use hold command. Yes makes noise but in the long run well worth it , second whistle for recall after a while you will get a natural retriever. Most don't even need the hold just strong recall as any animal worth it's while shouldn't just wanna drop its catch. Never owned mutt that never retrieve bit coincidence all my dogs have mint recall one faint whistle and

Biggest Disappointment....????
paulsmithy83 replied to BORDERSCOT's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Mine was when I reached adulthood my cock was a few inches smaller then I'd liked. Oh shit we on about dogs lol mine was a bitch called queenie the RSPCA got hold of her and no chance getting back. She killed field or fen and was pleasure watching her work -
Same lamp of , get them back in. Then off we go again. Gives the dog time to recover on the Trot back also if running them hard run after run
-
Your right would think so but as mention nothing set in stone, my muka has a greyhound that has out worked his sons first x collie/grey bitch only did 2 seasons then injury to wrist the grey dog is on it 5 season and ran everywhere even on mountains in wales

Beardie lurchers like this is rarer then hens teeth, how old was bitch that was mated. The only prob I can see to why they havnt been taken is the dam working life my not be full on enough for some handlers. But glad she came round for you tho. You can see you bred them with right interest tho. Sick really if this was a hancock ad these all be sold at any price. these have been grafted and still around All the best muka

Good going there muka, most would of been daft enough to be tucked up in bed, proof there that you can still have good nights with moon up. Good tally there

I once owned a dog,old Blue, the original type HJKC,lamped him, ferreted him, coursed him and worked him with the terriers, the dog was a working machine. At times he would have his Blue days and attack anything in range, quarry, dog or human,he rarely gave signals of his intention, just did what he saw best at times,no amount of training or education could account for his drive, mood,or manner,if he was not such a reliable catching and killing machine the dog would have been a cull, none of my hunting partners at the time would take a dog out with him,or enter a vehicle he was in,he was that unpredicta

I only read casso part lol but to me for the topic title . a shit load of work night and day. I'm yet to find a dog out of control or struggled with regardless of cross even with shit loads of drive if worked hard enough. Usually most have probs because they ain't out enough just my take
-
I'm sure that they would, its just would those in the litter that dont all be shot? So your saying that nobody over here ever culls rubbish then are you? Its not an American thing, selective breeding been going on for years. Yes alot do cull here but not in the same percentage as over there. I agree we have very capable dogs here but let's face it with all the shows and rag chasers the percentage of shit bred over here is alot higher then over there. Proof in pudding the deerhound x basically the stag look at our now it getting harder and harder to find genuine working deerhound.

Been out with a muka who uses it often they great bit of kit especially if you want em to hunt up at night without worry of range. eBay or amazon prob best bet.

I never used to watch it , but after watching my muka play I started to. I box for yrs with and without the gloves but f**k that rugby they smash the shit out each other. Just getting grips with the dam laws there loads and it do not seem consistant i watch few old clips and the size diff of player unreal. my muka a winger 15 odd stone stone juicer but some them old clips been put up them players look tiny compared to recent I love give it ago but never played a game in me life haha

Wanted Pure Bedlington Bitch
paulsmithy83 replied to paulsmithy83's topic in Working Dogs & Livestock
So a terrier is only used below ground, ok then muka . It will be used below but people so quick to jump on a thread. Throwing accusations of peddling and stuff judt because a bloke wants a pure. Shouldn't have to explain on here to a bunch of tosser. Why don't people concentrate on there own kennel. Rather then adding useless info on this thread. As said he looks sorted now , and again thanks to all the genuine offers via pm. Mods lock this now if possible. -
Wanted Pure Bedlington Bitch
paulsmithy83 replied to paulsmithy83's topic in Working Dogs & Livestock
I think if he was gonna peddle pups mate he go for a like a chuwawa worth the money not a couple 100 beddie lol it's the point he wants a pure, they are out there my cousin used to have pure doing the job and his old man did unfortunate the bitch died doing the job or he would of had that line . knew this be to much to ask a small minded site like this. He Might have one sorted bloke up west Scotland seems to have abit about him and both 6 yr old dam and 9 yr old sire seem to have done the work season after season . He off up this season see what they like before mating takes place so finger c -
Wanted Pure Bedlington Bitch
paulsmithy83 replied to paulsmithy83's topic in Working Dogs & Livestock
As I said off two grafted parents , he wants a pure not like it guarantees it being pure having papers but alot better then one without. No diff to whippets really -
Hi my very good muka is looking for a bedlington bitch pup must be kc reg and no older then 8 weeks old with papers, he wants one for around jan time but will wait for the right bitch so if anyone is planning a litter off hard grafting parents around that time could you drop me a pm with contact details. One thing for sure this lad will put all the hrs in to justify the bitch He's located in South Wales somewhere by Gwent but will travel

Gsd type for me , good deterrent and will get stuck in if needed. But let's face it guys if people want in an animal isn't hard to get past. Only takes a piece of steak with tranquillisers in. Best to invest In decent solid setup and make in nigh impossible for anyone to gain access to what your protecting.
-
Makes sense muka, the first bit is my problem I'm naturally over assertive and hot headed. I Never put a hand on them but collie types seems to crumble with my personality. James won't come near me. I havnt even farted in her direction it like other collie x they just don't seem to gel with me.

Is it really fear ideation ??????

Mac is a gent really been around but I doubt be on a traveller site 99% of us course and match so wouldn't be the smartest now. I'll put the word out tho see if anything comes up. The dogs marked now and like said bang it up everywhere to increase this .
