There is no way one man could wipe Britain of rabbits with a dog. Thought you meant to be the cleaver one how could that be logical ??? I'm thick as shit and can see clearly that impossible lol
-
That's what I do mainly if you have a good dog you shouldn't need to even enter the field just slip from the road. Also the best fox catching team I've ever seen was a bull x a motor driver and blitz. Floor matt over the passenger window dog on the passenger seat driver lamping. Hell of a team. On some of the big stumbles around here though you need to get into the fields to keep up with a run. Atb We do loads by motor but never in the field we drive and slip over a gates and what ever but tbh I walk at least 3 lamp session a week anyway which I enjoy much more. Catch seems more wort

Homemade Electrolyte Drink For Running Dogs ?
paulsmithy83 replied to jackals_arrow's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Intresting read Do these concoctions really hydrate better than H2O? While Gatorade was invented in 1965 by the medical team for the University of Florida Gators, it wasn't until 1991 when the company instructed America to "Be Like Mike" that sports drinks really launched in popularity. Today, Gatorade has plenty of competition, but do you really need any of them to enhance your workout? Yes, if you're exercising longer than 60 minutes or less than that but very intensely. So if you're doing an easy jog while watching an episode of The Office, or playing a relaxed lunch hour game of pic -
Very true desertbred I think every line needs out cross at a point in the family tree to put in those desired traits. The most popular is going back to the full saluki imo
-
But all the best to your venture muka hope it all works out for you
-
Yeah that might be but most if you got all way back probly won't be a first x saluki grey . Many out cross back to saluki or grey in a line not start a line with first x saluki grey yes there will be first x that start lines but in coursing dogs on days they began wasn't saluki x grey first x. It was the hybrid coursing dogs of the time which was saluki free many made up of deerhound/collie/Bedlington bred with import salukis then bang after so many generations the new saluki x coursing animal was born. Now the lines are that established no need to really out cross that often just coursing bre

Not really as alot have lurcher to lurcher just an exaple collie/grey put to pure saluki maybe then put to grey/saluki/beddie and so on then putting said offspring to other type doing the job leads to eventual purpose bred coursing dogs. Very rare a line starts saluki one parent greyhound another

Simple if I ran England I'd buy a English bred dog and vice versa. silly buying a dog from a line not running where you will be yes they adapt but some lines suit some places better. Hope that makes sense lol

Funny one really the dogs need to start to be conditioned but it is to hot during the day. I been setting alarm for 3 in morning and doing a few hours road walking then. Gotta do what needs to be done It got me thinking after talking to my muka who plays rugby they started pre season 1 July ready for first game first few days in sept. training in 25+ degrees for two hours must be madness lol

Massive boom in rabbits on my estates. Just gave me muka 3000acres I couldn't take on that over run with rabbits. Hope the hares breed the same
-
There's gotta be rabbits to breed off first lol some areas hit hard might struggle to come back straight away this year might take a few good summers
-
Not being gay but tell us about yourself and the ground you will run and the guys will help maybe find you a dog that suits. Will it be your first hunting dog
-
Weird has no prey drive , I mean yeah it's young but it is a pure sight hound it is very rare for them not to have chase instinct. Most you struggle to hold back and then the problems come. I'd be more then worried if mine didnt want a look in. As people said get it out ferreting and build its confidence up and hope it comes forward. Very easy rabbits and out with very experienced dogs that catch alot and hope penny drops
-
Have one for me mate. I be more worried it did not have enough power to get back... Well you could always have a few more pints and get your mrs to collect you He'll plug it in and charge it when he gets to the pub mun...... Then on way home to put a downer on things as this is the uk, pick up a ticket for drink drivin haha

Working Dogs The Night- What To Do In The Day?
paulsmithy83 replied to spec's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
To many variables to say them all but Depends what kind of night they have if we have say a 3-4 hour lamp and catch say 15-20 rabs I'll give them a hour walk in the morning to go piss shit then same at around 5 ready for them for night but if out for say 8hrs and putting a good shift in and I know I'm out the next night I will just give them a two 20min walks ready for later and mainly to keep kennel clean and stop them being stiff
