i like silkies but they dont do well in wet weather. keeping up with regular cleaning is a priority. light sussex bantams are a favourite of mine very hardy, easily tamed birds that lay very well. google red mite products and read some reviews on them.no need to keep a cockerel unless you are thinking of breeding. on the subject of noise unless you have tolerant neighbours expect complaints.
Cheers, Ive got two russells,,,,,the one in the pic keeps me on my toes..
not had one for a few years just have a beddy but i certainly know the feeling
potatoes seem fine. had a good crop of asparagus so far.lettuce poor. brassicas seem to be on hold. getting plenty raspberrys. onions and shallots growing on fine so far. the carrot crop is non existant. tomatoes slow.
lovely young bitch. good luck for the future with her. im sure she will do the job for you. :thumbs:that pic with the russel made me laugh. ive had a few since the eighties cracking little dogs.
I agree they make good ferretting dogs but if ferreting for a long time in wet, cold windy conditions and the going is slow there are better options, but if there your favourite ferreting dog then fair enough.
how is that young pup of yours now is she settling in if you dont mind me asking?
caught charr on wast water many times years ago. could never find out if fishing is really allowed. got told it was free fishing also had national trust rangers trying to move you on saying fishing was not allowed on the lake.caught some nice trout on wast water also eels all on red worm ledgered.
mary had a little muff it was as white as snow.
she said come here darbo and have a go.
i licked her clean
she gave out such a scream and said ive shot my cream.
Thank's, where abouts in Scotland are you? Is your's out of Baghdad lines?
I don't have as much time for ferreting these days what with work and horses but the Salukis have always done me proud especially in and around tight places rough ground.
cracking dogs and pictures a credit to you.never seen a pure work did they pick up marking easily enough?
Give them their heads and they will pickup on the in's and out most of things pretty quickly, downside is that included things that you don't want them figuring out.
thanks

You`ve not just bought a dark ferret from daytimeonly have you ????lol
It`s not as easy as you think to convert a shit ferret into a worker
would say its impossible wouldnt you? what can you do, its not like dog whereyou can improve fitness diet stamina etc, its either there or its not?
No your not improving fitness but surly getting it to come to you and to search out to get food is possible.
As for dogs it's not just fitness you train them.
Do you have bop mate they have a natural instinct to hunt. Doesn't mean it will be a good worker if you don't put the hours in training

thats the way early success installs confidence in a young dog. make it as easy for the dog as you can.longer slips and hard nights are for the future. well done.
