  1. Dog thieves will not be put off by a chip, they are as easy to take out as they are to put in.
  2. Useful looking crew.
  3. It is if you have time to do it,i despise with a vengeance the lazy useless feckwits that ruin a spot because they cannot be arsed to tidy up after themselves, sometimes you may need to do it another day and as long as its done fair play.
  4. Patience,a softly spoken voice,a little more patience and a strong hand,if you can balance all of that in its education you will end up with a useful mutt,id not own a lurcher without the Collie influence,id also not own an heavily saturated Collie lurcher. They need far more stimulation than the average lurcher, they soak up training and command, never over-educate one though as that will make them work on command only and ruin them, let them train themselves and you to get the best balance, interfere to nudge them towards your goals.
  5. What type of bitch do you own?.If its for the development of a litter of lurcher pups id seriously re-consider the use of a Greyhound, the facts are they are a second rate option that a decent lurcher stud would not be,a greyhound stud offers far,far less in the field than an honest lurcher stud.Good luck.
  6. I ruined dogs that id love to own now whilst learning on my own,the harsh lessons learnt while we educated ourselves and the mutts, are the reason many hunting folk hunt with experience now.I was in the game for many a year before i managed to get the advice and education from a few more learned sources,if id been a rank novice i may have followed their advice and implemented ALL of it in the field,as id learnt a few harsh lessons i soon realised many a mentor needed mentoring themselves and the sound advice others offered was soaked up and added to what i already knew.Im conceited and naive e
  7. Excellent read, ive some happy memories of hunting around Hawes, bunny,s and trout.
  8. Some call their dogs pets, others don,t class them as pets,it makes little difference to the dog,if its allowed to work it will work whatever its called.Id not be to concerned with a family member catching anything from a working terrier, more chance of getting run over by a blind Pakistani nun.
  9. They soon learn when you chuck them in the drink.
  10. Collie has an honest habit of balancing out a Deerhoundy,it gives them the missing x.
  11. He works his terriers,i bred them and gave them their early education,he is younger, keener and more committed than me now and offers a working terrier far more than i am prepared to put in now,i also educated him when he was a sapling and can say with a little pride that he is a far better terrierman than i ever was,he still grafts terriers i still class as mine.Ive a young bitch that i rate and have a lot of time for,ive just gifted her to him because i know it as a better chance of reaching its working potential with him,i still manage to tag along for a little stimulation and to steer the b
  12. Get a Beddy busher, once you have seen a good un you will never have anything else.Ive had Russels,Beagles,Spaniels and a multitude of Heinz terriers and they all did the task in hand with conviction, some came close, none surpassed.Just get yourself a good brush as well as you will need it to keep its coat clear atb Brambles strip a Beddy better than any brush, its a case of a little tidying up around the edges with some scissors.
  13. Really?.why not? Anything is a possibility. Some lurchers are tunnel vision and chase anything thats in the beam. If that terrier crosses the beam its a possibility that a lurcher could try and pick it up. Not worth trying it out. That would have to be one dumb fecking lurcher,do you own bull x types?.i dont own a lurcher, but ive seen a few thick ones. As have we all mucker.
  14. A terrier still as to work the face to draw, sometimes for far longer than a digging terrier needs to,plus it often needs a little more savvy to graft that way. There is a massive difference in a dog retreating and a dog that works going backwards, when it needs to. so basically drawing, you have totally contradicted ones self , saying that they draw and that they bolt the most stubborn of foxes , if a terrier is going too draw there is less chance of it bolting , this sites fooking mental Its fecking rare that a terrier would need to draw its fecking fox Einstein, yet when its needed it

  17. My mindset,i own bushers that thrash about and bush,i own catchers that rely on the bushers endeavours,at times,id not attempt to own just 1 that could do both tasks,it would do them both poorly.
