Messed up on the size some how, dont know how to delete. what are those white ones? they are sandy coloured, not all bedlingtons are blue, there are several colours of the bedlington just read your coment, and you say the pups in the pics are not bedlingtons, well i dont fu##king know yes, but never registerd the pups, all turned out first class graffters I won,t ask what sort of work they are capable of,at the end of the day if your happy with them thats all that matters. To anyone thinking of getting a Beddy for real terrier work i would strongly advise seeing the parents at w

Why would anybody feel the need to justify,to a total stranger, the ability of the dogs in their kennel.Im happy with my little lot and don,t give a flying f**k what other people think of them,if a dog is no good then the only person who will lose out is the misguided fool who tries to work them.

Would they be KC bred?.

Ive owned speed machines in the past, they were handy on big open land but a liability nearly everywhere else, they seldom put as much in the bag as the dogs with enough pace and grey matter.

It was written in jest and kept lighthearted, apologies where of course given to the poor old lady. You use language like that towards me again son and I will be saying hello to YOU very soon. I kept the reply light hearted,i don,t do silly threats, grow up.

Accidents happen,if you think it was funny knocking an old woman over, then your a prick, find out where she lives and pass her a bottle of something,or flowers and apologise properly, she may end up with a little repect for an immature lurcher owner then.

matching will be end to coursin

Nothing wrong with a little friendly rivalry, most of the lads shook hands at the end of the day, win, lose or draw,if a few quid was won or lost it made little difference, owning the winner or seeing a good dog or two performing to their best was more important. Its only over the last few years that the petty feuding and bitchfest have ruined a sport that on the whole was conducted away from prying eyes and narrow minded bigots. To many now are more interested in making a name more for themselves than the dog they own. -
I used to do the basics,stockbreaking,retrieve,re-call and stay, the dogs learnt the rest with work in the field, after watching a Working Border trainer i went mad on training, sit, stay, left, right, away and anything else i thought would improve the dogs in the field, the dogs became robotic and hesitant, always looking for commands. Now i learn the basics, the dogs work better and i can relax,

I used to sit and watch an old fella training Borders,he used to train them up and export them all over the world to working homes,he told me the biggest issue with them was harnessing their immense drive,it was difficult with some of them to stop them using their teeth on stock, some that made to hard on sheep could be trained to cattle.I agree that the Greyhound will add drive but the drive from the Border can be better utilised in a working lurcher.

Ive never seen a working Beardie and would,nt use a show dog for breeding lurchers, better chance of getting a line off a Border with many generations of workers in its lineage.

graham i agree fella ive lost a dog before he grabbed a deer and ran into a tree stump broken back i was gutted pts for him there and then ,there a tool bredd foor a purposesorry for ya loss mate Really? Thinks that the problem with the game nowdays, they are often treated as tools and not living animals....... A good workman always looks after his tools, thats the difference to me,to many see them as tools that are easily replaced with a minimal outlay.

Id agree that it does,nt take much of a dog to bag up on bunny,s,but, rabbits are the mainstay of most lurchers and offer rewarding days and nights in the field,if you did,nt have the humble bunny to chase about you would have to many blank, fruitless days out.Never take such an humble quarry for granted, the lurcher world would be so much less rewarding without mr. rabbit.

how to stop dog running on when lamping?
morton replied to stevemccone's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Work on the daytime re-call,transfer that training to the nightime, also the more time the dog spends in the lamp the sooner it will realise that returning to you will result in another run, repetition will usually bring some steadiness to your nightime forays. -
i say [up he is around 18 months he has dun growing he is 26 and 3/4" butt a very powerfull dog the 1st pick is his unccle he was a rate dog in his day The dog was born on the 7th July last year, which makes him just over 16 month,he won,t reach his true potential until he gets into his second season,he,s made very much like his sister that ended up in the north east.

I take my pups out round the fields, terriers and lurchers, from 6-7 weeks old,ill walk 100yds and sit down and play, take them to a stream and let them splash about, sit on a warren and let them explore, never walking more than a few hundred yards without stopping for 5 minutes,it teaches them a lot more than sat in a kennel. If you was to take the pups on a regimented walk without frequent rest stops you would do them more harm than good,to take a pup out lamping at such a young age is an act of total stupidity.
-
I cannot believe anybody with a modicum of commonsense could not possibly notice over 9 weeks that the mutt was not,or showed signs of being in pup.Prat.

141/2 to the shoulder mate father and daughter in the pic they do me fine atb I was going to say nice examples, but nice does,nt exactly do for working terriers, are they 3/4 bred?.

If he can get people to pay that sort of money then fair play to him,i bet he,s laughing all the way to the bank,of course he,s going to be helpful and courteous,he,s just butt tojjered you for £350.If you have the need to travel all the way up there to be shown the basics of bunny bashing then you are in the wrong game, the real dedicated lads and lasses that last the course get out and learn, one way or another, nothing more satisfying than learning from ones own mistakes and reaping the rewards.

not got the time for him, but i don't wont to get rid of him
morton replied to asbo93's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
you are not the only person that works and keeps dogs, others find the time and make the effort, get a decent home for the mutt and take up knitting. -
I know a bloke that was in to a goat and was caught in the act, dogs are covered by the same law,i think it carries a 6 week sentence still.
-
If you get caught you,ll go to prison.

x beddys topper If you are looking for a worker you will need to look at a Beddy with a bit of something else in the make-up,or get a KC type and forget about the work side of the dog. depends on what hes looking for? a beddy or a dog with some beddy blood in? so thats a x, or maybe just a pure old school beddy, no kc just pure old working strain Some people are happy with a KC type, that bears little resemblance,in looks,or working ability,to a genuine Beddy, the x bred dogs, bred true to type, not only look like the original, but some of them are making useful working dogs,to ground.Go for th

Have you not just contradicted yourself mate, not a dig, i agree that some dogs NEVER need any physical correction and some may need some form of physical correction, its down to individual temperaments........ "seldom need"..he was reprimand or cull.I enjoyed [most of the time]6 wonderful seasons with that mutt.
