  1. An adult dog, properly trained and entered, seldom needs to be physically disciplined,a sharp slap now and then lets certain dogs know they have crossed the line.I owned an ignorant, bad tempered, mean b****rd once, most people would have culled the brute,my mates would,nt let their dogs in the motor if he was in it.I never took the dog out without an old fibreglass car aerial with me,he tried his luck on innumerous occasions and felt the aerial,he then behaved impeccably,he was probably the most frustrating mutt ive ever had the displeasure of owning, but was the best hunting dog ive ever owned.I h
  2. x beddys topper If you are looking for a worker you will need to look at a Beddy with a bit of something else in the make-up,or get a KC type and forget about the work side of the dog. depends on what hes looking for? a beddy or a dog with some beddy blood in? so thats a x, or maybe just a pure old school beddy, no kc just pure old working strain Some people are happy with a KC type, that bears little resemblance,in looks,or working ability,to a genuine Beddy, the x bred dogs, bred true to type, not only look like the original, but some of them are making useful working dogs,to ground.Go for th

  4. Theres a lot of Beddy,s advertised as being from working stock, insist on seeing the parents working and you will soon eliminate the chancers, try the Working Bedlington Forum.
  5. Ive seen a few terrierx beagles working cover, useful dogs, but the ones ive seen have had a tendency to wander to far on a line and go deaf,i prefer a Beddy.
  6. If the conditions are right with a full moon i often don,t bother with the lamp, you won,t bag up the same but the right dog can be productive.
  7. I enjoy taking the mutts out, most of the time, but sometimes there are times when you may have to be a little more serious to achieve a result,or fail to connect with chosen prey. Its handy to have a dog that can step up a gear at these times and then adjust back to the fun days in the field.
  8. With a mixture of breeds in the average lurcher,is it a runt,or more likely to have thrown to part of its hidden ancestry.Ive seen size variations of 21" to 27" out of the same litter.
  9. Not all Police have a full understanding of the laws on hunting, thats why they arrest you and let somebody else figure it out.Anybody hunting fox,s with dogs have had to adapt and change to hunt within the confines of the law,the same as with Beagle packs, who can now only legally pursue bunny,s.The difference between regulated hound packs and lurchers is,the packs are more closely scrutinised and have had to bear the brunt of the fallout from the act,the sensible lurcher owners lead a more secretive, clandestine lifestyle and can usually go about their business without drawing attention to the
  10. Id have thought if a dog was running the hare,no matter what the circumstance,it would be deemed illegal in the context of the hunting ban.
  11. When the rspca are involved with anything, believe nothing.
  12. Take a good dog to land holding little and you will catch little, take an average dog to land holding masses of game and the dog will bag up everytime.Which is the best dog?,Always have a spare dog in case of injury,s.
  13. Ive only memories of times in the field with the mutts,i wish now that i had taken some pics as keepstakes,i tell my son about some of the tally,s we had in the Dales and he finds the numbers incredulous,a few pics could have put the apprentice in his place. Its interesting to see that certain areas in the Dales are still producing.
  14. Most towns in this green and pleasant land of ours, have a small minority of feral feckless youths who see the owning of certain types of dogs as a status symbol, they have little interest in walking the land to do a spot of hunting, its to wet,to muddy and to cold.Far easier to scrag a cat of windowsills and toss it to the mutts, the most worrying aspect, apart from the negative press it gives others,is there feeble brain cell,i doubt they have more than 1 or 2,fails to understand the wrong they do.
  15. If he keeps a dog in them conditions,he won,t know the meaning of shame, youve done your bit, fair play to you,but it should have been kept in house, now its posted ,name and shame him.
  16. Id have told him he,s a lazy scruffy twat and not fit to keep dogs,id then give him the chance to rectify his ways or the dog would be going to pastures new,i certainly would,nt have posted on a computer where the wrong people could see,you should have kept it in house, some brother.
  17. The dog looks fine, some are just picky eaters.
  18. Again, youve been advised incorrectly or youve been looking at the wrong Beddy,s.
  19. When youve done a bit of bushing the least of your worry,s will be the terrier entering to a bunny.
  20. I don,t see the harm in a little friendly rivalry as long as opposing parties have the grace to admit defeat, but when money becomes involved and big egos, then it turns into a bitch fest.
  21. If you,ve been looking at Bedlingtons that can,t get to ground youve been looking in the wrong place.
  22. What neanderthal brain dead half wit numpty would look at putting a dog on drugs,so that it looks a certain way,to boost the idiot owners ego?.Get rid of the lurchers and stand on a street corner with a Staff.
  23. At the beginning of April this year i was walking along with the dog on a slip, officer dibble drove by having a nosey,i knew he was going to turn round so released the mutt and threw the slip into a field,i carried on walking and plod duly arrived, they said they had seen the dog wearing a slip,i smugly asked what slip lead, search me,they gave me the mandatory strip search and finding no lead issued me with an £ fine for having the dog not under proper control in a public place,B****rds.
