  1. the dog i got of you morton got the rabbit to day first one bushing fore him The mother to that dog had an uncanny knack of being in the right place when anything bolted, ive never known a dog that could react to the terriers at work like she did.
  2. A few good bushing spots can make for a very rewarding season, whatever gets missed will be there next time, hopefully, the dogs learn more from the experience and seem to genuinely enjoy the occasion, the main reward is seeing the dogs working as a unit, reading the situation and reacting to it.Its sometimes irrelevant what finishes in the bag.
  3. About 15 years ago my daughter let the dogs out whilst i was at work, the bitch was lined by her brother, said daughter felt it appropriate to keep the accidental mating to herself,a few weeks later i thought the bitch was having a phantom pregnancy, still the daughter kept her little secret, eventually the litter was born. There where no physical or mental problems with any of the pups and the 2 i kept became accomplished in the field never showing any negative signs of their close breeding.
  4. Very well done, thats how it should be done.
  5. There are a small minority of times that you may have to dispose of evidence, other times if you know that you will be travelling any distance you should have arrangements in place beforehand to pick up your kills,or don,t go,if you are only interested in the chase then put a muzzle on the mutt,it won,t detract from the chase and it can be run again another day.the sad thing is there are to many with running dogs now who seek the easy option and have a f**ck everybody else mentality. If you need to dump kills for no good reason,or bad planning then its a sad reflection of your true motives for b
  6. In my locality the farmers are that sick of lampers doing damage and killing sheep, spring, summer and autumn, its to cold and wet for a lot of them in winter, that they let shooters on the land to shoot all ground game and anything else that lives below.I picked an hare up last week, dumped in a gateway with a bullet hole through its ribs, the shooter was probably doing the farmers bidding,i don,t have a problem with that, but dumping it makes him no better than the indiscriminate sheep killing poachers.
  7. don't think they'ed be covered by current game legislation there's no wild american turkey's in britain they're all domisticated birds that can't really fly and the all belong to Bernard Mathew's There are numerous turkey,s,bred from original imports of wild birds,in Zoo,s and private collections around the country.Several years ago any surplus youngsters of wild turkey,s and Red jungle fowl i bred,i gave to a syndicate member on a small shoot, which he released into woodland on the shoot, the turkeys never lasted long at liberty, the Junglefowl bred in the wild for a couple of season,s and
  8. Lot of Beddy/Greys and Wheaten/Greys about.
  9. It most likely got marked up chewing on a metal dustbin, because all G/danes are good for is eating, sleeping, shi**ing and taking trips to the vets to sort out their numerous genetic problems,as a cross in lurcher breeding they give nothing worthwhile.
  10. A few years ago i was having this same conversation with a couple of Irish lads that liked a run on Venison, they stopped after their dogs mistook an horse for a roe one night, they said it was a bas***d to get the dead horse in the Fiesta. The day after it was in the papers and all over the news channels, because of idiots with lurchers,Shergar met his end. your kidding right Deadly serious, took them 3 months to eat the evidence.

  12. Well me personally,i would,nt be sat on a computer looking for sympathy,id be taking steps, getting organised and waiting for the scum to come back.
  13. If the dog cannot be broken to stock and it likes to wander out of control, then as a responsible owner id pts.
  14. I think whoever gets the job will be drinking out of a poisoned chalice,we don,t have the players now to challenge at the highest level. To many foreign players in the Premiership, the majority of the top teams have very few Englishmen in their starting 11.
  15. My lad claims the dogs when all the work is done. The big black dog is his.
  16. He looks like his mother,if he makes something like her and his uncle,he may do well. His sister is coming along well, his brother is still a tad immature and won,t come into his own until his second season, all the best with him. who am i talking to The dog and his uncle both came from me.

  20. Im in the fortunate position that i can climb over my garden wall onto permission, there is a warren 100yds away that i leave just for the purpose of getting my pups used to ferrets, new scents and experiences,it aids their development no end.I would never take a pup on a serious days ferreting until it was ready, that is properly trained to basic commands, fit for the field and able to come to terms with a fleeing bunny,to me that would be at least[with my dogs]8 months old,all dogs are different and it would be up to the responsible owner to enter correctly and wait until the dog is capable,a do
  21. The hunting community in this country is fragmented and easily divided,i believe the ban will be watered down for the registered hunt packs and the terriermen that work with them, because they wield the political clout, once their hunting rights are re-instated they will do nothing to support the lurcher and terrier brigade. The police will then have more resources to implement the ban as it stands,it will be a case of working within or around current legislation, most of the current laws where enforceable before the ban,so it won,t really make that much difference to the dedicated hunter.
  22. The dogs had a good start and will settle down and improve with more time in the field, a good quality lamping outfit will serve you well for years and make the job easier for you and the dog.You may be able to source a decent used set-up,but be wary of knackered battery,s.
  23. I know lads that are being prosecuted at the moment,by the clueless idiots, because of scars on dogs and posting pictures. So keep posting the piccy,s and when you get a knock at the door don,t forget to tell them who the real idiot is. what extactly are they being done for?....dogs carry scars,.....simple as weather is rows in kennel or out bushing with terriers.....they are picked up hear there and everywhere......there has gotta be more to it than just a scarring around a dog muzzle...... When you see the content of some of the posted pictures, its not exactly rocket science,to f
