no need to ridicule peoples dogs...if you haven't got good to say say nothing at all If people put pics of dogs and ask for comments, they have to put up with the good and bad,it is an ugly fecker, but looks count for little in the field.

Susan Boyle is classed as bonny in Scotland, keep em.

Roadwork, roadwork, roadwork and decent jock, when the dogs conditioned through roadwork then its time to let it run and finish off the fitness in the field,no easy options,no quick fix,if you want to do right by the mutt don,t cut corners.

Do we do the anti's work for them??
morton replied to Moorside's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
We are, unfortunately,in a no win situation, even the good honest posts will be twisted and doctored to suit the views of an ignorant minority, that has the eyes and ears of an ignorant majority.Im the first to stand by my right and freedom to hunt as my father and his fathers did, well most of what they possibly got up to,hunting with dogs, guns, nets, rods etc. should not be restricted because of the views of anti hunters, but it is and always will be now.Keep the posts clean and positive, hunt as the law or unseeing eyes allow, consider the views of others and disguise your sport to be more acceptabl -
Good, bad or indifferent its better to be out and about than wondering if only?.A bad day will soon be forgotten by the next good run and catch,or an honest hairy athlete,i don,t mean Fatima Whitbread, that deserves to run again.

Rubbish, walking does much more than just getting the dog into shape for its work in the field,so many think that a dog can be taken out of its kennel and worked to its potential,a dog thats strengthened with road walk, getting its feet, muscles, tendons and nails into suitable shape, will fare better and longer when the time arises,a dog that is,nt prepared properly for the task at hand is more prone to injury, usually muscles, feet and tendons. Your right in what your saying for before there running fit and pre season but once you have them running fit and they stay injury free nothing is no wh

Forget percentages,as soon as mathematics becomes important to breeding lurchers, then the breedings flawed.Decent working mutt bred to the same will usually produce the same, the ability of the parents in the field is far more important than the percentage of this and that and what will show in the mix, ability first and foremost. I aren't talking about mathematics or percentages. Say you've got 2 dogs pre ban, 1 good at hares due to dash of saluki blood, one good at foxes due to dash of bull blood. What would you expect from pups? Be ok at both? Some throw to one some to the other?

If the brain kicked in,we would all be one women men,or one fella women, for the fellas a standing cock as no conscience.

Start them young and keep them interested, bonny looking kids there mucker.

Without a certain amount of weight to power ratio its often a case of fight or kill, its sad to see a dog trying to fight something for long enough to kill it,which they seldom can, than a jukel that has the physical conformation to get a job done quickly with less suffering to both parties.

An old fella came across me burdened by a few bunny,s,he relieved me of a couple to lessen my load, every year,in season, for about 4 years he knocked my door and took a couple of bunnys,i was glad to oblige and happy to see him make use of them, then one day another old fella in the boozer was telling these amazing tales of his mucker and the exploits of his jukel that managed to furnish him with a couple of bunnys every week, this dog was the bizz and nothing about could surpass it,he mentioned that i myself had a yearning for this mutt,or at least a line out of it.A few days later and another k

Loaned a dog Wendy bred,a few years ago now,to hard and never learnt to stand a bit further away from the pain, died young.

The poor lass may be a victim of her own circumstance,i would,nt wish a cowardly scrote like that on any lass, not everything in life is so cut and dry,she possibly had no other options open to her but live in such an unhappy and violent household, which is often the case.Socks, without the aid and assistance of fellas like you, scrotes like this will have free reign and use the law to cover and protect themselves, give him a severe, cover your back, then walk away with my best wishes.

The police don,t make the law, they are employed to make sure others obey and conform to it,in circumstances like this the police are powerless to act as they would like to do,they are restricted by politicians and the inept and politically correct Crown prosecution service, the CPS decide on the next step the police are allowed to take, often this step is in direct violation of what the police, the general public and any reasonable person would perceive to be justice, the police are restricted by law in what they believe to be their job and justice, they always get the blame and the shitty end of t

An honest daytime gallop or two,the catch was often an anticlimax and somehow soured some of the best runs, when an escape would have been a more fitting end to a sporting and worthy challenge, night time is for lads with dogs that can,t hack the test of daytime running and the test an unlit hare gives the mutts.

Are the birds British or foreign?,British are fine as long as they are out of draughts and damp conditions, some of them will roost outside in all elements and suffer little effect.Certain foreign do better with an heated shelter,i would,nt give them access to outside flights until late spring and a tubular heater is the best option, the temperature does not need to be to high for most,to keep them in optimum condition.

Don,t be so naive.

My lurchers learn to read the terriers at work and then position themselves accordingly, sometimes a dog may need positioning to a known escape route, its on with a lead then,if bolting bunnys its better to have one dog on slip and the other loose,i use 2 lurchers, otherwise they may both follow the initial bolt and the next bunny will be away.So for me its off slip until its productive to hold one in reserve.

My son lost his keys last week, had to walk 6 miles to my brothers, borrowed his van, drove from Morecambe to Batley to get his spare set, drive back to Morecambe, lift to motor and drive back again.

Lost a dog once, ive found numerous ferrets when lamping the Dales, plus a bag of rabbits and somebodys lamping outfit.

Not sure if I'm reading this right; but are you saying you wouldn't give the vast majority of Lurchers kennel space, or Whippets ?? Either way, could you tell us why ? Cheers. Whippets don,t suit my hunting lifestyle,Neither do the majority of lurchers, ive seen some fantastic jukels over the years, various crosses that all did a job of work, trouble is now certain lurchers are bred for image not function, looks and appearance are more valued than honest breeding,i still come across some decent dogs, but so much dross, now i stick to whats been tried and tested, possibly not the best, but reli
