Ill pass all the posts, ive seen crap bred dogs make outstanding lampers on bunny,s,when the situation suited them, short grass,no obstacles,a bunny every 20 yds.easier to miss a catch than come to terms.lamping is the easiest of disciplines for the average lurcher,a poor daytime potfiller will bag up at night. So what makes a good lamping dog?,easy,a good lamper with a dog.

Ive seen what some of the anti scumbags are capable of,it usually entails 3 or 4 of them to one hunter, man, woman or child, ive had the pleasure of running away from some of them, the thick feckers followed, when myself and a couple of like minded souls reached a place of the right opportunity, some of the cowardly feckwits, that otherwise may have used the opportunity to further their misguided cause, learnt a lesson, that no university could, happy days.
-
Id stay clear of breeders, that usually entails ££,s and not breeding for a purpose,an hunting jukel, get out with the parents of the pups, that will tell you more about their future potential than anything else.
-
That portraits them in a bad light which is what we want and for people to see them for the hooligans that they really are....... Well done mate you've just joined them with your comment. Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth,if they want to dish it out, well?.

Plenty can get a dog to shine,no matter the type[dog that is],ive owned Russels,Lakey,s,fells, any amount of Heinx 57,s,all have made accomplished bushing terriers, any sort of terrier,if given the time and opportunity will excel at the job.I personally prefer Beddy,s because,to me,they have the edge on agility and speed.Ive seen to many good uns of type unknown to disregard any terrier for ratching about.
-
There will be many, many people on here that all use something different for bushing and ratching about, one will do the job just as well as another.

Nice frost and sunny sky,the best time to be out and about with the mutts,as long as the ground is,nt frozen hard.Id rather miss a day or two when the ground is unsuitable, with our winters its never to long before the frost abates, than injure a dog and miss days, even weeks, then have to get the dog back up to speck again.I agree that lush fields and land with cover underneath is still runnable,if a long gallop ensues you have little control were the dog will venture.

11 and 3 bitches.

A few about S.Yorks,late 70,s,genuine imports.

Sunday morning,me the son,2 lurchers a Lakey and the young Beddy dog, first shout was a waste,to much cover and the main holding spot had been blocked and left by numpty,s.10 minute drive and next spot, keeper asked us to have a wander along the river, his main rearing field, the cover was again to much,a fresh scent was followed by the terriers,a couple of blank earths and sweating and struggling through 6 foot high Himalayan balsam and brambles time to move.Next spot had been flooded the week before, plenty of scent but nothing home, the cover again was far to heavy to make any sort of real progre

If a beaver in the face is seen as a problem for you???.Well!

By the look of the dog,its always going to have the potential to be a sounder,if it catches 1 out of 3,thats not to bad and id be happy,it will hunt, flush and mark for you as it gains experience, thus making it even more useful.Accept the mutt for what it is,not what it is,nt,it will become a more than useful hunting companion,it won,t make the best,so what,be happy.

Will he get the sentence he deserves, unlikely,a landowner and a Policeman, probably community service, still keep his pension and get another computer and user name.Dig to a terrier, prison sentence, course a few Hares, lose your dogs vehicle and a fine,British justice.Only one individual though, the vast majority of plod will be as sick as the rest of us,dirty perv scumbag.

I think Leveller is making a valid point,a lot visit this site, some to learn, some to gather evidence, some to massage their ego and some to sit for a while with some like minded souls, the genuine lads soon shine through the dross, chavs and frauds, you will never eradicate the less desirable and trustworthy members, just try to ignore and avoid them. The members that have been gifted with a certain amount of intellect should be able to cobble together a tale or two of dareing do and hunting exploits, with a certain amount of poetic licence and camouflage. Its easier to stand in the shadows,do your ow

Backfilling is an accepted part of terrierwork,or should be,whats nearly as bad is blocking an earth, thus making it useless. The pricks that blocked a good holding spot, that as been worked for years, back of the Oddfellows at Ravenscliffe,it took me only a few minutes today to rectify the problem, well done numpty,s.

Get an horse mushroom, hollow it out,mix this with streaky bacon, chopped onion, chopped tomato and black pudding, fry this alltogether, pour back into the mushroom case, grate cheese on top,put into the oven on a medium heat for about an hour.Few slices of hot buttered toast and a feast for 4,or two greedy baskets.Proper fat lads breakfast.

Bedlington Terriers for ground work
morton replied to EnglishBulldog's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
a lad i used to know had a bitch reputably from d.emmerson from bradford many years ago. on the few occasions i saw her work she was a decent little bitch ferreting and lamping. if my memory is still intact i think d.emmerson used gary hoskers spud to breed 3/4 grey 1/4 beddys. not heard of him for years. As soon as i see Hoskers name mentioned with Beddys,i cringe,an average jukel owned by a big ego, neither up to much. -
A frosty moonlit night used to be the perfect excuse and opportunity to ferret a piece of land that would be otherwise off limits,a fall of snow and the cover of darkness was also appreciated at times.

Cage breeding is mainly for show birds,it does though produce more youngsters under a more controlled environment,as budgies are naturally a flock breeding species, its best to let them breed this way,as long as nest site dominance is,nt allowed by dominant pairs, more nest sites than breeding pairs,at the same height, alleviates this.

Shows the legal system for what it is now, plenty of evidence to prove him guilty in court, but the legal system as it is,fancy lawyers and the money to pay for them often results in a not guilty verdict. The F.A.,looked at the facts and found him guilty.Football players now don,t have the gonads of old, what is said on the pitch, should stay on the pitch.I believe it was one of the Fashanu brothers that ended up on the receiving end of abuse, from an international player,he walked into the opposition dressing room after the match and explained to him the error of his ways,Ferdinand should have done

Get the flight covered from the elements, feed them well,Start them on conditioning seed and a bit of eggfood at the end of january, end of April put up more nest box,s than you have pairs, all at the same height and at least 18 inch apart, then let nature run its course.
-
You won,t be the first to lose a ferret, even finding an escapee, not everyone owns a box and collar, most of us started without one.Pick your warrens, stick to the smallest possible,no matter the temptation,as the ferret learns its trade,so will you.

For me there is no dog more elegant and suited to running heavy, wide open terrain than a Deerhound cross, put the same dog in less suitable surroundings and although it may be a useful jukel,it will not run or reach its potential. Then there is the Border,Greyhound,a dog that will adapt and perform to a very good standard on differing disciplines and any terrain, but they lack that extra yard and have a tendency to become a little to clever.Combine the two and the best of both shines through, the less desirable element of the breeds is lost,to a certain extent, you should in theory have the ultimat

I homed a pup with a middle aged woman in the North East, she wanted a dog for the shows and to catch a few bunny,s.She seems to have won her fair share of Rosettes and shows in that area over the last 2 years, the dog keeps her in rabbit pie and she as now found a taste for venison casserole. Its surprising the ones who don,t fit a certain image, are not always what they seem.
-
There seems to be the market for them once again, not always a good thing.as soon as a type regains popularity ££££,and egos quickly follow. The North East seems to be the hotbed of this type, maybe the terrain better lends itself to this cross.Ive seen a few on here that seem to fit the bill.
