Good to see you got them out Kev. Your permission and it's not as if there's hardly anything on it!! I thought my dog was their favourite!! I have a ferreting job to do tomorrow. Yes it's a bit later than I would of wanted, but the farmer wants it doing before the sheep are turned out into the field. If I don't do it then I won't get the lamping permission next season.

I know the area fairly well mate. If you have no luck drop me a pm. ATB

Mate of mine had one and it caught plenty of rabbits. That was up in the Lake District too, so not easy ground either. Some are just better built than others. ATB

She has certainly grown and it's been good seeing her run on the last few outings. Good to see the croc was back at it last night. Here's a pic I took when she came ferreting with me the other day....she was on top form!!

Why Is It Labeled Such A Bad Crime ?
white van man replied to Saluki246's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
It's big business. Although as scum as they may be, some of these gangs haven't got the brains to open a gate let alone move on farm machinery. Most equipment is stripped down and sold as parts/spares. Some is shipped all over the world. These guys normally have a snoop about and then go back later on. -
Why Is It Labeled Such A Bad Crime ?

If this was still legal and it was honest guys hunting hares in a fair way with permission then there would be no propaganda/publicity. 9/10 the hares are the least of the farmers worries. It's the problems that come with the majority of scumbags that don't respect anything. There's decent folk out there that lived for coursing and respected everything that went with it, including their quarry. I don't blame any farmer who calls the police as I have seen first hand the damaged caused, not to mention the farm equipment that goes missing. The fact is that these people who trash land, gates, worr -
Thanks for the info

Got ya. Blues dad was a racing grew. The whippet side was out of a dog called big land boy. All these names are normally linked somewhere!! He's fast enough for me but needs to learn to be more of a bush basher!!

Lurcher Found North Wales
white van man replied to welsh_hunter12's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
It's a shame but pretty common up there. I grew up in North Wales and we had a boarding kennels. Part of it was a dog rescue centre and most the dogs coming through were lurchers. Shame because some of them were really nice types. Some had to be PTS within an hour of being with us due to being in such a poor state. Hope it gets a good home. -
Ending A Poor Season, On A High With The Whippets.
white van man replied to gwalchmai4110's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Sometimes life gets in the way!! There's a few of us that try and get out here but something will always come up for one of us. Looks like you had a good time with the 'show ponies' though. Personally I don't think anyone is a messer if you are offering someone a trip out on your land but have to cancel for a genuine reason. It's a different story when you offer and they fail to turn up with a poor excuse or no excuse at all!! Nice looking dogs there. You just got to get out when you can. ATB -
I get what everyone is saying. The lad has asked for a greyhound stud and for him it may be for a reason. He hasn't asked for anyone's thoughts just if anyone knows of a greyhound stud. If that's what he's after then he has been lucky to have a decent offer. It wouldn't suit most but it suits him. ATB.

A lot of people comment on how little my dog drinks. He is on raw and never fed kibble so he gets a lot from that. He always has fresh water at hand but we rarely see him drink it. I add water to his raw and let it soak for a bit. I also give him watered down goats milk and he will lap that up. As said if they are thirsty they will drink. ATB.

Do it mate. You won't look back. Yeah I know Gaz. I go out now and again with bushers and it brings the lurcher on no end.

My plans are to keep the lurcher ticking over. Keep the training up. Plenty of walks and I'm seriously looking at getting a busher in as I think that's something I need to make our daytime walks a bit more productive!!

Good write up Phil. Good to see you finally got a trip up north!! ATB. -
It happens torchey. As they are marking there will be a van going around looking to pick any dogs up. Just not that common around here. Like I said if you are in the area please keep your eye out.

Hi lads please spread the word if you know anyone in the East Devon area. It is on Facebook but I thought I would spread the word on here. This is what has been said from a reliable person. Doggie owners - we just had a women come to our house to sell goods pretending to be deaf. Unfortunately Boris barked when they knocked but Rich just told them we don't buy from the door etc. Five minutes later he went out to check our drive gate and its been marked with chalk If they knock on anyone's door locally please try to keep them talking or try to get a registration number. There's decent tube heaters on eBay. You can plug into a timer switch so it just comes on for short bursts or have it on for a few hours. As said though most don't need it. I have insulated the sleeping compartment have a flap on the sleeping entrance and also cover the front of the kennel with a blanket to reduce the stop the cold getting in. You can feel the heat when you open the kennel in the morning.

Good Lurcher Training Book Recommendations
white van man replied to Blueboybilly's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Will second that. If there's someone near you who knows their stuff and willing to help out then make the most of it. -
Joe. It's Geth so I know plenty about your dog. I would have him tomorrow! After seeing him out the last couple of times I think something like him would be ideal.

Thought there was some bull in there but wasn't sure if there was a mix of some other terrier too!! Hope they do well for you. ATB.
