A specialist in one part of the country might only be average in another. Some dogs just don't get the numbers in front of them because the land they hunt on doesn't hold them. These dogs will have to work hard, use their nose, hunt up to catch (in the day) at night they might only have a couple of runs but catch a small number that some dogs that have lots of game put in front of them might miss. I was out where I live now and my dog catches quite a few. If I take him to where I'm originally from then he's lucky to get a few runs. If I brought one of the lads dogs from up there down here and

Getting The Kennel Ready For Willows Pups
white van man replied to Snifferboy's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I have seen the set up first hand and been out with this bitch day and night. There's not much that he hasn't thought about and these pups will want for nothing.....and will prob eat better than most of us!! Lot of time gone into this and a well planned litter. I will be waiting until all the pups are spoken for before I pop over.....don't want to be coming home with a pup, as much as I would like to as these are going to be cracking little dogs. ATB -
I had this problem but he's come good. I tried a few things and they seemed to do the trick. Have a selection of dummies/toys. I tried rabbit skin, gun dog dummy but his favourite is a stuffed sock!! He goes mad for it so I just do a couple of retrieves a day with that...no more than 4. Play tug and make it interesting. If the dog is dropping short then walk backwards and call her as she's getting closer (before she drops it) Every now and than after a retrieve I give him the dummy back and let him have a run around with it. Once I'm ready I call him back in so he retrieves aga

As said let the dogs teeth mince them. Would only mince if I was feeding pups or young dogs who can't manage. ATB

Was out with sniffer and our dogs yesderday. His beddy whippet has definitely taken. We had a cracking mooch out. The little bitch was in and out of cover and keeping herself busy!!! Lamped with her a few weeks back and these will be good dogs. ATB

Was talking to someone the other day swears on using turmeric on cuts. Going to have a read up on it.

It was a good morning out mate. Can't wait to have a lamp up there!! It might have been a bit early for me but at least I brought the grub and a flask!!

Saluki collie grey x grew. Put together a bit different to what you are asking but same sort of make up. Well happy with him at the moment. Getting good at ferreting and seems to be picking up the lamping quick. Very bold and headstrong but settling down a bit now. 24"tts and 15 months.

To be honest that was a slight concern for me but really liked the litter. After not having a lurcher for a while I wasn't sure how it would go!! I would say blue has gone more towards the collie than the saluki and a few people have commented on that. He has a fairly big noggin and a few people have asked if there is bull in the mix.

No wonder he's licking his balls.....he hasn't stopped the lucky sod!!! Hope he's back to normal soon. Went out with snifferboy and his bitch the other night. These are going to be good little dogs!! ATB

You might have to blag the driver and say your lurcher is a guide dog!!!

Cheers Kev. Never mess with big Dave!!

Over the summer I bumped into an old boy (Dave) whilst out training the lurcher pup and we got chatting about ferreting. He asked if I fancied giving him a hand this season on some of his permission. Being fairly new to the area I snapped his hand off as my permission is limited. Anyway after a quick 'in the field' job interview he give me the thumbs up and we arranged to get out. This is my dogs first proper season and he's coming along nicely. He's a 15 month saluki collie grew 24"tts. Dave has a border terrier x spaniel that he took on and she is also working well. This was now our second o

I kayak guide around South stack and have also climbed there a fair bit. Not trying to put you off but once you are down there then it's a climb out or nothing!! Getting down is sometimes the easy bit! Unless you are totally happy with your climbing ability and rope work then have a look at other places. It's one of the most amazing and remote places I have been but I can say that things can change quick there and when they do it can get pretty hairy!! PM me if you need any info and I will try help out where I can. ATB

Was good to get out whilst I was in the area mate. The dogs had a good run!! They look smaller in the pics and it was good to see that the mum showed them that she still can out run them. Sniffer it was one of the death days out the office.....Exeter-North Wales-Leeds-Exeter! Yep get them out next week for sure.
