  1. Cheers Floyd Yeah she is the litter sister to Zac, I've heard he was doing well mate..... They should get a run together in the next couple of months... Cheers Kev
  2. I was always told "walk quietly, but carry a big stick" Most people talk more than they can do, and the internet is full of talkers........... no idea of your situation mate, but I'm sure if you want to sort it out you will.......
  3. a fight night fo charity???? get a grip Took the words right out of my mouth. Lets not pretend you were thinking of ways to raise money for charity and came up with this , some knobheads have pissed you off by getting brave on the internet and you want to give them a slap , fair enough , but I promise you they wont show themselves on this thread , all this will do is encourage all the other chestbeaters .
  4. Good result mate, looks tough ground for the dogs.... Still getting the odd half grown myself...
  5. Steel erected for years, we call people that go up the steel like that shuffle bums..... I wouldn't do half the things I done as a kid and if I caught my kids doing it I'd go mad........ The bloke and the train......... Why?lol
  6. Well done mate, It's nice to have a bit on the doorstep... even better that it's holding a few.... they don't hang about on the driled fields though, we've got the same here, the dogs got to be on their ass from the word go...
  7. Cheers mate, I don't know about more help, but she catches a few rabbits...... I still think a bigger breed is useful to have about
  8. Cracking job lads, well done to everyone involved..... Come on let's get the bidding going, there's a few that need a boost I reckon.... Whatever the final tally credit to everyone....
  9. That's shame mate, I ferrteted/ lamped etc all the time as a kid to my early 20's then I got into other things that took up my time so drifted out of it......... but once your bitten the desire to hunt never goes away, In the last 4 years or so I'm back into it more than ever, theres nothing quite like a frosty morning, ferrets, lurcher and nets and sometimes the size of the bag is outweighed by the out there and doing it feeling ( well it is for me anyway)...... The men who showed me the ropes as a kid are sadly gone and I supose there is some nostalgic connection to ferreting for me as well
  10. Cheers Your not wrong there mate they're quick enough, she done well considering most were long slips, the farmer was happy a few more were gone, it was a bad harvest this year so he's a bit twitchy lol....
  11. That's me mate, I love cooking ( always have) but the mess is unreal when I do a roast it's like a bombs gone off in the kitchen.... During the last recession my old man had no work for months so started cooking, got to say he was bloody good, we'd get back from school and he would of made all sorts.... I think it rubbed off and at 19 me and the bro lived together and I cooked every night after work, curries, stews, pasta dishes, roasts whatever really... The Missus ate crap when I met her shed been educated now lol
  12. Well done mate, had enough of the wet fields myself lol....
  13. Cheers lads, She is Bill, got her faults as I've said before, but she try's hard enough.... She's getting better with the ferrets all the time, which is what I think she'll eventually shine at ( with a bit of luck), and she can catch on the lamp.... I'm still looking at bringing a bigger dog in next year maybe, it's hard work for her on some of this land, but can't knock her effort.... How's Zac doing now, is he fully recovered? Atb Kev
  14. Well done lads, another good bag
  15. Cheers lads She's 3/4 wip 1/4 beddy, she's only around 19" but a trier....
  16. I got a call from the farmer up the road on Sunday, moaning about the rabbits on his drilled fields, we had tried to ferret 1 of the hedges on this bit a few weeks back but it was inpenetrable in places, so we are waiting for him to cut it back a bit as promised. I said I would be up with the dog in the week so last night seemed as good as any ( no wind this week but at least it's black), this is tough ground big hilly fields with the bottom half mainly arable and the top, really hilly sheep fields. I realise this is not ideal land for my little whippet x, but thats what I've got so she'd hav
  17. Another top write up mate, well done on that young dog looks a real nice one....
  18. As said, run nets in the hedge catch a fair amount of our rabbits, it becomes obvious when you stick your head in where the runs are, you need a decent size net for the runs, we use 4ft or 5ft purse nets and not poke nets with 2 pegs. Don't often use long nets along the hedge, just stop nets...... The odd 1 that makes a break for it over the field is a bit of sport for the dog.... Not often we ferret anything but hedges
  19. Had a springer that constantly made me look a twat Used to take him on site , twice he ran through freshly laid concrete He jumped in the front of a carpenters car, nicked his sandwich the chippy tried to grab him, the dog ran through the car out of the boot gulped the sandwich down ( still in cling film ) and then spewed the cling film up. We were fishing on Barry Beach one night after work, looked around and the dog had disappeared, heard a bark from above and saw the dog at the top of the cliff.... He spotted me and took the short route back, straight over the edge.. He tried to run
  20. Sire to mine is a line bred bedlington lurcher..... He belongs to Parksie off here... Check his avatar pic
