  1. In these times of doom and gloom I had a real nice bit of news the other day... A friend of mine donated his kidney to one of his best mates, they'd played in a band together as teenagers (the lad he donated to actually got to the finals of the voice)... I spoke with him last week, he was sore but in good spirits... I know everyone is a tough man etc blah... but to me that is a huge thing to do, real show of courage..to put yourself under the knife for a friend is massive...imo Hes a good lad anyway, but showed a real bit of class with this one
  2. Trawlermen on I player... tough old game

Hes a nightmare for it mate... tries to be all trendy with the new buzz words/phrases... don't really suit him with his look of camo gear and crocs though...
  4. This sort of thing never makes any sense... I'm sure the analogy has been used before... but a thief wouldn't be on FB boasting about the last house he robbed and sticking up pics of his swag..lol, so why would you go public on activities that are illegal? It makes no sense at all... you wouldn't even talk about it in everyday life, but happy to post pics and yap about illegal activities on open forums...mental

  9. Never served myself, but very close to a few lads who are/were marines... been on a lot of dos over the years up the camp, and watched a couple of my close friends come back from Afghanistan a different person.. walked a lot of nights with one of them.. he struggled for a while... Pretty close with a lad who lost a leg (i think you'd probably know him) done a lot for the invictus games and was a speaker for a few years... Like I say never served so can not hold the same opinion as those of you who have, I've only witnessed as a friend the physical and mental changes of war... like yo
  10. Went on one 5 years ago, Cheltenham for the races then 2 nights in Bristol... was the normal shit that happens on stag dos... I'm getting old! Lol
  11. We had similar in our old steel yard for rolling the beams through when cutting. I'll check with my brother where he got them, it was a while ago now though
  12. I think for the short term, until Paul sales, he'd make a lot more money on air bnb.. plus normal long term rental agreements are minimum 6 month then monthly rolling, you may hit issues removing tenants once sold... Ours returned 4x the amount on holiday rental in 12 months compared with long term... the long term rental I have is steady but you need a few ti really capitalise and its more a long term investment Imo.. We have 2 cottages up now on holiday rental, 3rd being developed... its hard work but definitely better money
  13. We use a holiday letting company who deals with air bnb on our behalf... but we get a lot of bookings through air bnb.. I think they charge 15% commission, you set the price you want and there commission is on top. We're set up for it (now) but there is obviously the change overs, which can be a pain in the ass if they are booked concurrently.. 2 sets of linen/towels etc as a minimum are required, possibly 3. Its quite saturated now, so unless your offering some unique points the prices aren't what they were 6months to a year ago, my mate air bnbs a small annexe of his house, I

  15. A trail of discarded fingers will lead you to his lair...
  16. Gimli the great! His dwarf cave is hard to find, the trail is often misleading and paved with danger, there is many who dare not tread those ancient paths to his dwelling.... but those that do are rewarded with merriment and the finest steel this side of Warminster... Good luck in your search brave Knight...
  17. My Dad often says about Danny Grewcock being in there... His labourer/life long friend (Dave) went with him up there and worked the bar, (he was also the man that first took me hunting and fishing as a kid)...anyway he was dry as f**k, really funny... Danny G was stood at the bar, massive, they yapping a bit about rugby and England etc... Dave had gone to the juke box without saying anything...Next Flower of Scotland is blasting out... Dave was half Scottish and enjoyed a bit of banter... His best trick was instead of putting a shamrock on top of a pint of Guinness he'd write "
  18. My mum and dad left me and my brother in Exeter and went up to the pub in Combe Martin, I was 19 brother was 17.... we had a f***ing great time! Lol until my brother got his girlfriend pregnant at 18 she was 17, they're now married with 2 great adult kids.... we had the baby in with us in the house, the partying got a bit too much, I was a proud uncle and wanted to show off the baby, even early hours... so that didn't go down well lol.. Great times in the Top George though, Earl of Rhone weekend was always a laugh, the carnival was good too.. beat Keith Allen in pool in there one carniva
  19. The Top George mate He didn't own it, ran it for a mate of his for a while.. Its been turned into flats now, real shame as it was a proper old pub and the home of the hobby horse
