  2. Trying to post in the ferreting report section and everytime I hit post it just taked me back to the main forum screen. . . .
  3. There IS a lad on here with a good working beardie dog. . . .
  4. Im real hard on my boots and wellies. . . . The muck boots died a death, the sole is shite and the soft upper tears easy on barbed. Using some Seelands at the moment . . . had them since start of season and they are good enough boots, tougher upper and better sole than the muck boots . . . . not awesome though..... The new aigle parcours however . . . . are fecking superb! For the money, they are real comfy, hard wearing, warm etc. Can't fault them.
  5. Funny how they have to get donations to treat her. . . . and yet when taking folk to court they are made of fecking money . . . .
  6. It tends to be in cover when he becomes unsighted.
  7. I have to admit mine gives out the very occasional whine of frustration, when he loses a rabbit through cover and he knows it's going to get away . . . .
  8. I would imagine it'd be a little on the heavy side. . . . the dog has all of the other handy attributes. . . . it's just a tad bulky for the running game. I know of a lad who owns one. . . . used to be on here.
  9. Genuine question . . . Has anyone actually had a sal/bul/grey that was a 'proper' fox dog and also coursed hares to a high standard regularly?
  10. Couple of more recent ones of my rabbiting dog. . .
  11. Had one of the most enjoyable days hunting that i've had for a long time . . . . .

  12. My whippet is very passive on that front, he will release the rabbit to the older bitch if needs be. But generally they have their own little areas to cover and when one hits one of their nets, they deal with it and the other dog stands back and waits / watches. A lot of the time it depends how much action there is. With this pair of dogs we really don't have much of a problem with competition. With others it is more of a problem.
  13. This post is very strange . . . .
  14. Like I said. . . . low fat. They recommend it to folk who have had heart attacks. High Protein.
  15. We do risk assessments etc in work mate. . . i'm sure I could sit down with you and run one up? I'm intrigued!
  16. Depends on the area I think. . . . and what kinds of game are there, how much hassle they get etc.
  17. Stopped taking photos and doing write ups, but took a few snaps on my phone the other day. Went out with ORT off here, had a good mooch about, the rabbits didn't want to bolt. The dogs worked well, I was a bit of a moody git (over tired!), ORT was extremely patient and the weather was nice. We ended on 23. Could have had more, but had a few lay ups and the disco carrot was being a twat. The end. Cheers to ORT for the company and a good day
  18. Tree rat nuggets mate. Chop up your meat. Mix some flour, with cayenne and black pepper, maybe some chill powder. Break an egg and give it a wizz with a fork. Dip your meat pieces in the egg and then roll in the flour. Chuck them in the fryer. Or make marinated tree rat pieces - joint them, and chuck the pieces in a plastic bag, with a load of honey and soy, honey and chilli or honey and lemon. Give it a good shake so it all gets well covered and then leave it in the fridge over night. BBQ, grill or fry them. . . . . they taste great. It also goes pretty well in a s
  19. Cheers all! SB - The whippet is a whisker under 22". You would be welcome to use him. . . . I think he has some traits which would be useful in a mating. PJ / Shaark - She is lurcher x lurcher. . . . with a good dose of collie and a bit of saluki and bull. Shes shaping up pretty well, but we've got a long way to go yet.
  20. Cheers kc. H - the whippet is a dog. I started lamping him about 1 maybe 1.5 but mainly day work. Started doing a lot more lamping with him about 2 - 2.5. The pup won't be lamped for a good while yet.
  21. Cheers Colin. She's certainly strong.... And about 22" at 5 months and a week. Fiercely intelligent to boot. The polar opposite of the whippet with regards to training.
