  1. That's a belter of a photo Johnny, thanks!!!
  2. I'll be honest, the thing that holds my dog back is that his drive combined with the nature of his build . . . . leads to problems. My lad is big and well built for a whippet, at 22 " tts and about 18 kilos. . . a few folk on here have seen him work, and they can testify to his stamina, prey drive and hunting ability, he also has a good strike, and is smart. He can ferret, lamp, hunt in the day and has managed to bag most species one way or another. The problem is, working him most days on whatever land I can, regardless of the risk, leads to at least two, usually more periods of lay up, while
  3. Aye a good lurcher may well beat a good whippet in many tasks. But a good whippet will beat an average lurcher lol. Seen plenty of lurchers my whippet would make look stupid. But they're two different things , so why try to make one out to be 'better'.?
  4. Take the misses. Never done it before but did recently and it works!
  5. Thanks for all of the help and advice! It was absolutely fine, I was stressing for no reason! As said, carts in each hand, shove them down the tube. Apart from that, got to handle the dog. Nice day out. And got to drive a real nice Range Rover. Shoot was over rated however, from what I have seen. . . . Off to a few more places with him over Christmas so should be good.
  6. I'm on the case with the GPS!
  7. Cheers lads, thanks for your help, i'll let you know how it goes, and what the shooting is like. Should be a good watch, the gun i'm loading for can really shoot . . . .
  8. Hadn't thought about having both hands free. I guess double gunning seems easier because your hands are on the gun and the carts, where as i'm worried about a stumble . . . i'm sure it will be fine. Was as Ashcombe last week.
  9. This is going to sound stupid, but how do I hold the cartridges for the most efficient loading. . . . i don't want to fumble and drop the bloody things! I'd rather it was double guns, as long as the rhythm is ok, the loading is easier. . . . .
  10. Well, i've been asked to load for someone tomorrow. . . Thing is, it's stuffing a single gun, which i've never done, rather than a double gun. . . . To be honest i've no idea what i'm doing! So how the feck does it work? Help!
  11. Sounds good. . . One wee worry I have, is that i've just been told its single gun, and i'm the loader. Now double gun is ok, i get that, but how does it work with a single gun? Help. I don't want to make a prat of myself!
  12. I'm just loading and driving mate, too rich for my blood. Never been though and it sounds pretty good, be nice to see the set up
  13. One day they will be everywhere. . . .

  15. Aye. . . . looks that way, for a second I thought there was hope for the poor lad
  16. Anyone ever shoot at Downton Estate? Hereford / Shropshire borders. Cheers, Jai.
  17. Seriously mate, i think a beagle spaniel would tick boxes for you. Sound on game, work cover hard, biddable on recall, shouldn't go to ground too much.
  18. Nice! Do you think there will be any spare pups?
  19. Aye, they think brilliant, order is restored, I know what's going on now......the boss is back. I must bring him a shoe!
  20. It's rare that someone's dummer than you Aaron!
  21. Cheers lads! Had her out today on the hill and then went back to jbs house. Gwendoline has never been in a house with kids and lives out so can be a bit manic when in doors. But she settled right in, cwtched up with the kids and was gentle with the baby. She's probably the best 'pet' of any if my dogs, if that makes sense.
  22. Spaniel x beagle is what you need.
