H - to be honest.... With great difficulty . I've never had a dog that has been so hard to train. He's a driven little sod and incredibly hard headed. I've had plenty if failings in his training, and still have bad days.... Although that's usually down to me and my mood, rather than the dog. But I digress! The only way to get him going was lots of lamping 1:1, as many runs as possible, starting with walked up rabbits and then longer slips. Although he has his moments in terms of manners, when he's running we'll, he'll take most of what he runs, and he's exciting to watch. I think the last two

He gets a little quality dry, some veg, and fish or meat. And apart from that, to be honest, he's had no fitness regime at all other than lamping, ferreting and mooching. He's only been back at it for three or four weeks after a couple of months of total rest and no off lead time. I'm pretty pleased with how his fitness has come back. Just need to retune a few if his manners now haha.

I understand the reluctance to phone old bill. But I think in this particular area, i'm very very likely to get a pull. . . . and would rather avoid it at all costs . . . . . So what i'm trying to weigh up, is . . . . does calling 101 etc. . . . reduce or increase the chances ? I.e are they going to get called and think - no, thats the lad who phoned us. Or are they going to think. . . . well, that lad has just rang us and told us where he will be and at what time. . . . so lets go and check his vehicle and see what he has caught???

I've never really had any need to inform the police of my movements. . . . . but I know there are a few on here that do. . . . so thought i'd ask . . . I've recently got a chunk of permission in the middle of some really hot land. . . . that's plaugued at times, by poachers, the 4x4 crews etc. Stock have been killed etc etc. . . . . so everyones a bit jumpy about lamping. Before I go, i've got to call the farms that I have permission on, but also the neighboring farms that I don't, so they know it's me. Stewie, I'll try and be gentle with you, I know how fragile you are and that you could storm off at any minute and sulk for a couple of months. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SIKH'S AND MUSLIMS!!! The men involved in the grooming of the young girls were Muslim. A fact that the media and police played down. If you think it's acceptable for a young girl to beat up an old man then there is something wrong with you!!! I think your fragile mental state has been demonstrated here before but please don't get upset if no ones agrees that it's acceptable. where did i say it was accepta

You don't know the story mate. The lad could have been badly advised and ended up with a heart breakingly head strong dog for a first time animal. Rehoming it may well have been best for both man and beast.

Some very sensible posts. Maybe I'm lucky, as my pups are out in the countryside every day. There are a million things I want to teach the pup, and every walk is a learning experience on the land the dog will one day hunt. I don't bother taking the dog ferreting till its older, around 6 months. I go one to one and the entire experience is about the pup learning.

Thanks for all of the kind comments lads, she has pretty low self esteem about stuff like this, and doesn't really think she's any good. I've been telling her that folk would pay her for a painting like that . . . . .not sure how much though? Think that painting is 24 " high by 16 " wide.

When I met my girlfriend, she said that she did a bit of painting, and said she would do one of my whippet. Unbeknown to me she got hold of a photo I took a while back of him and did one. Anyway, she turned up today and gave it to me. . . . I reckon it's pretty good. What do you guys think? It's a fair size. . . taken on iphone, so it's not the best example.
