  2. That wasn't the question. . . . . If I had to stop doing everything else and would be left a lone doing one thing. That would be mooching daytime with a little team, hunting any quarry I came across.
  3. I think I was quite lucky mate, I remember all the nightmare scenarios we dreamed up before I got her Now all I need to do is remember to take a packet of digestives out with me when we go hunting
  4. F*cking love his stuff mate. Both albums are great
  5. I will do mate. She's shaping up to be a real asset to the team Solid bitch as well, not that tall, size of a cocker, and she weighs over 15kg. Once she gets hold of something it's like having a hairy paving slab with a jaw like a gin trap hanging off you
  6. That about sums it up JB! threelander - she is 3/4 Beagle, the rest is mostly Teckle and a dash of terrier and cocker way back.
  7. Well, I've got a few things on my mind.... But a strong contender would be a half x cocker/beagle dog owned by fox pack/ smally. If he's willing. Interested in keeping the coat, voice, bidability and hunting drive. Think with a few of them, couple of runners and terriers should have some good sport!
  8. And yes she is quiet until she is on a scent, and once she has risen her quarry she is like a foghorn!
  9. With this particular bitch, she is pretty biddable. It was one if my biggest concerns in getting her and bringing her on and so I've put a lot of time into her. At the end of the day she is a hound so is happy to work off I to the distance baying like f**k, but for te most part when were out she will work close, smashes through cover, and the runners have figured out how to work a long side her. She's got a hell of a voice on her! She has changed my hunting a lot. I use her for everything, ferreting, bushing, shooting, ratting and for flushing out bigger stuff from forestry blocks etc. I got h
  10. Well done cookie. I hate sharing ground, it boils my piss. Always makes me laugh though when someone says land has been done and you still bag up.
  11. Cheers vin. Aye that brindle bitch is a looker. And bron is going to make a real handy ferreting dog I think, she's got all of the right attributes!
  12. Always used a short handled, angled, and pointed spade, from tool station I think. The head snapped yesterday after 2/3 seasons graft. Like to carry that, with a bigger posting shovel in the car. A probe and a flat headed bar are very useful, as is a folding saw!
  13. The smell, the noise and the ferrets reaction mainly. Although I did think I saw a flash of it as well. The place is riddled with Charlie. And your certainly right about the joy if having good friends to share a days hunting with.
  14. Cheers, she's coming a long nicely. She's 3/4 Beagle, and the rest if mostly Teckle, with a splash of cocker and terrier. She's got a good voice and is smashing through cover now, and for the most part if a biddable wee bitch.
  15. Well here you go JB, just for you. We decided to head back across the border today, the same crew as last Sunday, for a bit of a mooch on some of our favorite hunting ground. You can do a lot of ferreting, and some of it can be serious pest control and at times, pretty hard work, but this spot, is a good one for a social day out with the ferrets and dogs, letting the team have some fun. Up early doors, I picked up Johnnyboy and our friend and headed across the border. Piling out of the car at our usual spot, we let the hounds loose, and soon enough had a rabbit on the move, and to grou
  16. I do. I can see many uses on a collar on a running dog.
  17. Folk always talk as if, when you have both sexes and they are entire. . . . you will definitely get an accidental litter. How come? We have 3 dogs and 2 bitches here, all in tact. . . . and no accidental matings thus far . . . . . . It's called good stock management.
  18. Well. . . . . I came home to a cracking Sunday roast . . . . . so it might just have been perfect matey
  19. Well, you asked me to write it up (you know who you are!) so here it is . . . I went to bed Saturday night, looking forward to the morning. Walking the dogs as the light was fading, the frost was beginning to creep across the grass, making it crunch underfoot, and promising some 'proper' ferreting weather for the morning. I woke up before the alarm, dressed and loaded the two dogs and a pair of jills into the car, a long with the kit, and then crawled back into bed for a final ten minutes of warmth, fully dressed, much to the mumbling annoyance of the misses. Heading off as it was gett
