Now I can see you are struggling with this .. But acting the big mouthy dickhead will just make your life more difficult. The standard is I'm very sorry your honour, I've learnt my lesson and it won't happen again! What you do after you leave court is your call...... But if you intend to carry on running dogs, it's easier if they haven't just thrown the book at you for being a mouthy little shit. It isn't impossible to get perm up there but it's a lot easier when your bit an arsehole to folk or an idiot...... And if you never ask, you'll neer know!

Years ago got caught ferreting off a keeper got a good hiding off him and his mate and when a got back to the motor all the tyres had been done. hope you went back ferretting and slashed his tyres,...you know...pay back the favour. Couldn't agree more. If somebody did that to me I would make sure they were a lot worse than I was i think that day is gone as far as some keeper catching you and kicking the living shit out of you for the oddbit of lamping,but if it ever happened to me i would take the law into my own hands, cause havox around the estate,i would lamp everything,rabbits,ha

I'm sure the 'fook all the law or a keeper can do' bit. . . . isn't quite true. Especially if your dog is any good and you happen to be carrying a load of dead bunnys

I'm not knocking you doing it mate, plenty do. But i'd feel like a right tit, if I was running my dog in the beam on game on someones farm and got caught . . . . and tried to tell them I thought it was ok because it was a public footpath. You'd just come across as a liar or a fool. I'd rather just say i'm sorry, I don't have any permission and just wanted a few bunnys for the dog, I didn't mean to cause any bother. Aye people do. But walking across land with a lamp and running dog, catching rabbits is known as lamping, a footpath doesn't make it legal to do what the f**k you like....

I've been around a lot of cover dogs over the years. . . and seen some out standing examples, which have included terriers or various types, spaniels, and numerous different cross bred combinations. . . . I have come to a few conclusions, at least on the land I hunt. A good driven terrier, will hunt and pressure it's quarry well, give tongue and can catch in the cover. . .and their work ethic is great. But around here, inevitably they become a liability, and it often ends badly. It's a fine balance between driven enough to do the job and driven enough to get themselves into trouble.

Good old fashioned field craft has its limitations ..... And field craft develops with technology...... It's not the most subtle thing or the most practical at times to shine a million candle power lamp about the place....... But your right in that it can make folk lazy .......

Lol, I think it's a bad thing when they needed to get guys from New Zealand to deal with the rats. You'd think there would be British pest controllers up to the task.It wasn't like they stuck down a few bait boxes. There was a big ariel bait dropping and monitoring programme.

Ha, you guys are on the ball if a fortnight ago is old news lol. I'm going to go with jasper, I reckon I could have the job done in 2024, don't know if the dog would last though ha. 2 weeks? Canna has been famously over run for years, since the rats were killed off. And it's been in the media, on the net and on here plenty over the years....... .... If folk haven't twigged, they don't need an invitation lol.
