  1. I have got - Ruby (albino jill) Kitty (polecat jill) Tilly (silver jill) Wriggler/Lucy/socks (polecat jill) Bear (sandy hob) Chunk (polecat hob) Also have an albino hob and jill, and two sandy hobs, out of Ruby x Bear, who are as yet unammed. They are 5 months now, i will be keeping the albinos and possibly one of the sandy hobs, and will name them when i get inspired / start to work them. Nine of the ten ferrets are linked somehow, kitty/ruby ( litter sisters), wriggler/bear/chunk (litter mates), kits (the two lines x'd). Tilly is the only outsider, but will be bred in either
  2. Nowt wrong with them names mate . . . . . My oldest (and at one time best) jill is called Ruby
  3. Dirty foreign things mate. I know it's going to sound bad, but i always get a sense of satisfaction from hunting English rabbits??? Although i've noticed that they are easier to catch and generally weaker
  4. Aye Seany i am mate, i can't deny it, i rarely take the dog out for a walk over winter without sticking a ferret in my pocket and trying to bolt at least a couple. Malc - apparently we are coming to see you? Going to give them English bunnies a bashing, apparently they taste better.
  5. I'm fairly sure i mainly use the middle ones from our 'mystery supplier' on here. have been using them for the last couple of seasons, and have found that they work very well. Personally i have not noticed the weight of the rings to be too much of a problem? But that is probably personal preferance? Here is a tip regarding the pegs, i find that tent pegs are very very good for this, especially when the ground is frozen, as they tend to have a narrower / sharper point, and also have a wee hook, to hook into the net when you roll it up. I will dig out a photo is a sec.
  6. The number of nets you will need, will depend on what kind of warrens you will face, in many places, 20/30 nets will be plenty, in others you will need more. I find that the bigger nets are not always best, in open land, as said, they will catch well, but in tight spaces, hedges, cover etc, they have more slack and so purse a bit slower. I like to keep a range of purse nets of different weights, sizes etc in my bag, a long with a couple of poke nets and a stop net. It's handy having different tools for different jobs
  7. Sounds like she is doing well mate! Ah makes sense now
  8. Have not posted anything for a few days as i have been tied up with a few other things (mainly shooting pheasants and ducks). Anyway, worked today, and then decided to have a little look on the estate in one of the pine woods for a quick half hour, as on the way back from duck flighting last night i had seen a few rabbits sat a long the edge in the headlights of the car. Anyway, got up there and it looks like there are a few about, which is good as it was hit bad by mixi earlier in the year. It's mostly big 40 + hole sets, so i just ran the dog over them and saw if i got any marks, but
  9. See mate, now you gone and given the game away. Whippet. . . catching on the lamp. Never! Got to love them collie x's
  10. Not fed them yet, but they will get three bunnys between them in a bit, or maybe two bunnys and a pheasant. Watch feeding them cows milk, they are not good with lactose.
  11. Well done matey, nice bitch, how is she bred? I take it that's a bag from a different day?
  12. Congratulations you have won a Darwin ,award.Bet the pup gave up on you ,on you, long before you on it?. Everytime you ever post anything, you come across as a fecking moron. x38 bred the pup you tit, someone else gave it away at 4 months because they believed it wasn't going to be strong enough etc. Read/think, before you open your mouth, muppet.
  13. The kids don't see a penny, thats why they are the 'forgotten children'. The cash all goes back to the heads of the families, same in Bulgaria, Romania etc. Even seen some get crippled so they can beg better
  14. Seems very daft to me to give up on a pup not long of the teat because you don't think it will make the grade size/shape/build wise. Living creatures are funny things and don#t all grow in a uniform way. Seen some scraggly, skinny wee things end up tough as old boots. 4 month is very much still a pup. The difference between a 4month dog, an 8month dog and a 12month dog is huge.
  15. They are rabbits.. . . . . . not the Viet Cong!
  16. Biggest fox i ever did see, was slightly bigger than the second biggest fox i ever did see.
  17. f**k me, any idea of the weight / length etc. Looks the size od a bloody terrier!
  18. Where abouts are you matey? I was in Budapest, in Buda, at the end of Bartok Bella Utca.
  19. Rough shooting this morning, nice mooch with the dog this avo and some duck flighting this eve. Not a bad day.
