  1. go gettem' bud... let us know ho you get on.. hope you don't have too many holes to dig.
  2. wow.. didn't know you could get those anymore. Remember shooting a 22.lr semi at Bisley before the ban. The barrel flipped like anything and jammed after every shot . Sure there has been some special variations for dispatching pistols in the shooting press recently ... best of lck finding what you want
  3. Christ... you get fit quick doing that bud. :weight_lift2:
  4. Bolt shoting bunnies would be interesting thats for sure
  5. I was flicking through a really old book only the other day (some 1800c first edition) and that had loads on the old punt gunning. I seem to remember them getting a lot more than 36 but to see the 'plates' of scteches the amount of game was amazing. One of the techniques for the best bags (as opposed to stalking a flock with the punt disguised as a bit of floating marsh) was to place wooded decoys in teo rows with a few live birds teathered by the leg in the middle. The hunter would wait until one of the rows was groaning creaking with duck before yanking the chain and cleaning up.
  6. Never seen one before... Was it for potentially deep work or incase one side failed.
  7. Thanks MC... Very informative post. Good pics as well
  8. Its quite obvious mate when you see it Swolen (generally pussy & scabby orifices) eyes, arse etc and a generallg sorry state. In the latter stages they are so out of it and unaware of their surroundings that you can walk right up to them to put them out of their misery... One nasty way to go... i'm glad they linched the French f****r who invented it.
  9. Having moved to Bristol the nearest patch i had was Dorset until the end of last year when i got a patch near Mid-Somer. Finding permission round here is a bloody nightmare without an introduction so i was stoked to find a farmer who said his modest 200 acres of grazing land was thick with them... I walked round one evening after work with the .22 and only saw (ans shot) 3.. two of which had mixy... and haven't seen one since! Needless to say he thinks i'm the dogs balls for sorting out his 'infestation'... i think he needs his eyes testing. Makes me realise how spoiled i was when i
  10. Lots of good threds on here that you'll pick a lot of tips up from... just punch it into the 'search' bit. Woodga's DVD is definatley worth a purchase. i've had some wires off him and they are top notch.. A stand up bloke.
  11. Good stuff mate... get stuck into em! The look well fed... u  nfortunatley for some farmer no doubt.
  12. That face fits the pic of the feet Ditch put up the other day... ... what do i win
  13. had a mature red stag and a hind on same night this season and they certainly weren`t run single handed though, 4 of us towed our bollox off trying to lift them into my pick up when we skinned them off the stag had small holes in his neck from where he had been rutting with another stag, we`ll have his big mate next time This season hey... who's a naughty boy then.. Awsome pics there WEX... it ain't easy getting to shooting distance on those big buggers so to get close enough to slip a dog (which would be pretty damn close i imagine ).. thats good stalking
  14. Was it the back left leg... it looks a bit 'kinked' for lack of a better word in the pic. Good stuff
  15. its nashers are generally a good age indicator... Here's a fact sheet from our friends over the pond: http://www.montana.edu/wwwpb/pubs/mt200107.html

  20. Thats a quality little piggy you got there bud . Bet that was a nice bonus! I know exactly what you mean about shooting Possums out of trees and the safety issues . Wouldn't shoot anything out a tree in the UK because of this reason but we were properly 'beyond the black stump' in the boondocks so judged it as ok. I was amazed how many you could get out of one tree to be honest... lined up like tin cans on a wall :moil: . You can see why the buggers do so much damage (it was more interesting than nailing sheets of tin to the base if trees to stop them climbing up anyway!).. they don't ha
  21. I used live catch cage traps for when trying to get rabbits in Taz (land owner wouldn't let me snare) and all i caught was sodding Possums... All it was baited with was carrot shavings. with a few scattered around near the trap. I'd also say a spotlight and .22LR is very effective for cleaning them up out the trees at night if you have the space but appreciate that this ain't quite so practical in a built up area
  22. Quality fish and a good yarn to boot Nice pic. :thumbs-up:
