I'm saving to get a custom job at the moment and going for a trued remi 700 action with a fluted kreiger barrel bedded in a Mcmillan stock I believe the ballistic coefficiency of the 6.5 round makes it flatter shooting to give it a greater MPBR. I'm also sure that i read that the sectional density of a 120 gr 6.5 round means that it hits harder than a 140gr 270 bullet. They are not designed to go as quick as some bullets but this suits the shape of the bullet. Id have said a 7x57 is a bit on the strong side for English deer but at the end of the day its what you shoot best with. I know people who swear by a 30-06 Unless we're talking about a large Red or Elk/ Moose we're essentially looking at a thin skinned animal where a correctly placed boiler room or neck shot will take it down no probs. My vote based more on loads of research as opposed to practical experience would be a 6.5x55 (i'm saving for one at the moment ) .243 seems popular for roe and fallow as opposed the more traditional English stalking cartridge of .308. I shot two a few weeks ago near Stroud that were jet black... one 3/4 grown and a 1/4 grown nipper. There was nothing in-between which quite suprised me... the were either jet black or tan brown. Just need some albino's there now and we'll have ourselves the multi-cultural utopia that Labour keep banging on about

They sure are I new that game and working dogs / ferrets picked them up from time to time but i didn't wasn't aware how many humans were being effected by these wee beasties or the side effects. The areas where they were attached are itching like feck... I'll have to take myself along to the vet!

Us lot are more likely to encounter these little feckers so here is a heads up (unless this has already been done). These little buggers are supposed to be largely killed off in cold winters but, as we have had a few mild ones in recent years they are massively on the increase. Like any tick they bury their head into you and bloat up.. unfortunatly a potential side effect is Lyme Disease which is feckin nasty. Same as Bob mate... did loads before i go my FAC. They'll get quite wild quite quickly as its a noisy way of doing it... i'd also let the plod know before you go out if you are near any housing

Nice fish... comendable willpower on returning it (i would have gastronomic plans for it as soon as it was in the net :whistle: ) I've never really got on with tying flies... i use to chew my finger nails and found it feckin fraustrating I envy your dexterity and patience... must have been a good feeling bringing one in on your own hand tied

Not sure of the best method as i'm not in the same league as some of the chaps on here I have only ever coiled strong fishing mono round the net and bastardised a slip-knot at one end... Whichever method you try... just be 100% sure your kit it safe. There are too many idiots around who would love to wreck your nets
