  1. Wasn't there a Norfolk poacher called Kenzie that used this technique for calling hares... apparently he could call them close enought to shoot with a 410.
  2. Wow! What a cracker... proper boiler room shot too.
  3. Appreciate the info mate. I was all geared up for a nightforce x22 but when i mentioned this in a gun dealership he shot the idea down and was singing the praises of a meopta 7x56 fixed power. Kinda thrown me as he 'talks a good game' it you know what i mean . Its good to see what other people use although i appreciate that everyone has their own reasons... Hey bud, Thanks for the reply what brand of scope do you import? I'd be quite interested but as it will be a pretty expensive (for me) one-off purchase i'd feel more comfortable sticking to a relaible brand with a warr
  4. I am currently setting aside cash on the sly for a 6.5x55 for use as a utility rifle for fox, deer and down the range  I've done a lot of research on the sort of rifle i am getting but the scope is turning out to be more of a minefield as there is simply too much choice I'm prepared to pay probably up to a grand for the right thing but it has to be good for the money and be suitable for just about every conceivable situation... Low light conditions, lamping, woodland stalking (closer shots), open field (longer shots), medium range target etc. The last thing i really want to
  5. My mate used to have a nice little 9 hole course and those buggies were great for getting close to rabbits and picking them off. Used an hw77k as it was a bit sketchy using the .22 live. Kept a .410 in the 'club-bin' on the back as well for mooches in the rough and roung the ponds Feck sight more interesting than chasing a little ball round the course!
  6. They don't tread on them mate... they are designed to take rabbits around the head / torso after being set in a natural/atrificial tunnel. The wire has three sensitivities that when the rabbits head trips. Have a look on the 'search' bit of the sight as there are some good pics. If your not sure how to set them DON'T.
  7. Oh... i share your pain Only kneed it for five mins of so otherwise you will get a very 'close' bread. Use 650 gms of strong plain flour, 1 - 2 teaspoons of salt, one of sugar and one of yeast. Add warm water and mix until it clages together... you can add more flour if it is too sticky, and fold and knead for 5 mins. Put it in a warm place with a damp cloth over it for an hour or so (preferably two). Remember to grease the tin if you are using one...
  8. nice one... how are you going to cook it
  9. To be honest mate but i wouldn't recomend ringing corvoid necks.. i had a hell of and infection trying to remove a big old crow from a Larson trap with my hands once. Had to have jabs and the wrks. Wasn't wearing gloves mind :stupid:
  10. Good stuff Ditch... the best things come to those who wait. remember...no women, no kids...
  11. CZ american or bruno carbine... can't beat them. A bruno LR with a silencer on the end makes that little bit too long to be that practical for shooting out of a motor so a carbine makes it perfect... honest. I used to have a Volquartsen tuned 10/22.. carbon TMF barrel and the works. Accuracy was very good but eventually got pissed off with unreliable feeding (probably due to me not stripping it down to clean enought) and fancied a change to a .17 HMR. I've heard positive things of the ruger 77/22 and as for the Anchutz.. if you can afford one they are renound as the creme-de-la-crem
  12. As for using them mate... they are generally a bit small to provide a big enough loop size for use on peg snares. You should be able to use them as fence wires but you may need to stretch them out and tighten the spin a bit as they can be a bit loose. Like you say... its all you have at the moment so best of luck If you're going to take it up seriously either learn to make some yourself (Woodga's DVD) get some decent hand made ones from someone who knows what they are doing ie... Woodga... You'll WILL notice the difference.
  13. Some theiving c**t nicked my girls new £600 road bike from the hospital today so sorting that out. My god there are some low f*****g c**ts about... oh and th insurance are disputing the claim! Grrrr
  14. Currently setting money aside (without the Mrs knowing ) for a 6.5x55 for fox and deer.. a little on the heavy side maybe... Anyone rate the .204... i know a chap who reccons he gets over 4000fps out of his handloads and he love the cartridge for fox.
  15. Personally i can not see any advantage over traditional rings. The only time i have missed rabbits out of nets is when a hole was not covered properly due to it being an awkward exit / too big / the net was too small or it got snagged. I can see some theory behind it.. ie.. a smooth run for the individual lines and it is a fantastic contingancy plan if you have no rings but i don't think i'll switch. Just my 2 cents...
  16. That bloke wants a fecking good slap for letting the dog get like that. ok bud... you go pop him one... i've got your back
  17. Thank god for that... there i was trawling seedy websites for pics of naked fat chicks eating family buckets of KFC and this pic came up... put me right off
  18. Look at the fricken size of the dude who owns it... imagin what this ones owner looks like... Poor b*****d
  19. They often freeze for quite some time or run a short way and then pause and look back to wait for the other to catch up (which they obviousley arn't going to do often offering another shot.
  20. thats no name for a black chick...... Quite right... Carmel, Shazni may be more appropriate
  21. 'rampaging beast' hey... nothing like a bit of sensationalism
  22. holy shit... that has got to be some kind of joke Wasn't there a thread on dogs taking down red deer single handed?... whippet / Hercules cross anyone
  23. Jake and red.. i totally agree. If this legislation is changed though do you think it provide people with a negative view of hunting to create even more problems?
  24. bear hunting dogs and all they obviousley don't f**k about when their blood gets up and this girl was very lucky
