  1. Ok then mate. Just out of interest what are the differences ?
  2. Yeah mate looks like a proper polecat.
  3. I used to push my first lurcher to his limits running hare after hare with my mates saluki cross. It took his toll on his body when he got older. Thankfully im older now and abit wiser and would never push a dog to its utmost limit. Theres testing a dog then theres pushing them far too hard. ATB

  5. Id rather have books by the likes of j darcy ect. About real working dogs Then plummers set up bollox wouldnt you ? ATB
  6. As said these crosses seemed to be popular for hares. but ive seen some proper mongrelly curs take hares both on the lamp and daytime. Its all about the land thats bieng run imo.
  7. Went out last night just for quick couple of runs bagged 1 in the first field 2nd field had a fox in and the last field had a solitary rabbit wich the dog missed. But still a good bit of fun.
  8. I used to have a fellar who used to knit all my purse nets. This bloke was f*****g horrible to his old lurcher used to beat the poor fecker with a walking stick. Anyway he said he had a spare ferret for me so i went to his house and he invited me to get one out of a cage. I lifted the lid and there was a fecking horrid smell ..... Anyway because of his lack of feeding animals the ferrets were eating each other! The were skinny as f**k aswell. Needless to say i took my ferret and left and never returned. That is the ONLY time ive ever heard of ferrets eating each other and thats when there unde
  9. Cheers mate. Ill be taking him out to nail a few on the lamp if the weather carries on. Not after big numbers ATM just need to get him running the beam properley among other things. Atb
  10. Ill probabley go out for a few abit later. Iv had a couple already today so i wont be going too far. Atb
  11. Traditionals are easier to carry in bullk but quicksets are alot easier to master. I wouldnt use a quickset for nightwork though much rather run my traditional out ..... Horses for courses really.
  12. Made a post about the same thing mate. Best thing to do is lay off the place for a year imo. Atb
  13. Nice one mate. Atb for the comming season
  14. out for a little walk earlier in some local fields. dog managed a good clean bunny and things were going well. then a quick sprint and pick up on another one. on rietrive turned out to be a mixy bunny wich was abit gutting as this land wouldve produced some good ferreting. all summer loads of them then as soon as the season starts they pick up mixy. never mind going out with a landowner on saturday to show me the bounderies on 600 acres of prime rabbiting.atb
  15. Ive had a couple of those army surplus spades most have been shit. I remember a timber company making folding terrier spades they looked well worth using but i carnt find them anywhere ?
  16. Yeah it sounds like brians new nets. You can use them when your bushing aswell i could imagine them bieng handy for when your ferreting adjacent to rabbit proof fences . . .
  17. Are you talking about a cage trap or an actual net ? I dont suppose its old brian brindeds hoop nets ?
  18. If you dont sell them my mate will have all 3 rods and reels.
  19. I allways try to start my dogs lamping for this reason. Just get him out lamping if he isnt back straightaway lamp off when he does come back plenty of praise.
  20. Double peggers have a real advantage when foxing but for rabbiting in the bottom of trees and rock piles they are sometimes handy. A friend of mine uses poke nets with a ring and a slider. Carnt really see any benefits in it my self but he swears by them.
  21. Shell look reall nice after some excersise and looking after do you know what she is ? She looks saluki x to me ?
  22. Went out for a daytime mooch with crozzy off here didnt see much but got the dogs out.
  23. yes mate it is proper good fun and its good to see the dogs have to find flush and catch there quarry unaided by me a lamp or ferrets. its usually nice when something unexpected pops up but soetimes it can be a right pain for my wallet and the dog . . . . . . . . fecking munties
  24. Ive heard of people taking stags but there allways seems to be 2 dogs involved and a lamp or fence. Im not knocking the lads who have done it as the lads that have in my opinion are as game as theyre dogs as it takes bottle to slip there dogs on something that big and fast. Atb
  25. Look mate i carnt be botherd to sit here bitching with you my opinion is my opinion just necause i dont agree with you dosnt mean i want to argue. Sorry barnowl for f*****g up your thread. Atb
