  1. i have a hound x lurcher, deffo not silent on hunt, gives lovely voice. lost his cuteness lol
  2. my mates just told me about a company in england that can build him a custom fibreglass stock, he supplys the original rifle, with stock to them, and they make a fibreglass copy. they also told him about an adjustable height bipod set-up, its not commercial but engineer made, 2 long legs, sit along rifle from forward sling fitting, to nearly the end of the stock, but are adjustable to longer. i will get the name of the company who makes the stocks up soon. cheers irishnut(bandit 1200)
  3. its the weight that is the prob, it needs to be lifted by his 1 arm, 3 legs to set up in a field to shoot a fast fox would be slow too
  4. he wants to hunt(fox), not just shoot targets. but i guess that they would probably have lightweight guns for competition use, so he may be able to get custom light stock made, i will suggest. cheers for help dave
  5. my mate asked me to check this out for him, he lost his arm in a bike crash. his current guns are a beretta al391 20g extrema and an old single barrel poachers .410 the rifle he's going for is either .222 or 22/250, he needs light weight for carrying/aiming, also needs either long bipod or sticks which can attach to rifle as he cannot bend knees much. money is in the question. so more or less what im asking is names of good lightweight rifles in .222 or 22/250, and a tall bipod(3-4'). this is serious topic. all advice gratefully accepted.
  6. rust at bottom of rear door pillars beside rear seat belt mount, inner wings, inner sills, top and bottom tailgates. chassis isnt usually an issue on range rovers, check the rear chassic along all 4 sides of each rail. the engine is either 2.4 vm, 2.5 vm,200tdi,300tdi. both vm engines have 4 individual heads and gaskets, check for fresh anti freeze marks, vm is slow and thirsty, 300tdi is better not much to say on it.200tdi is noisey but great gearbox's are zf auto-4 speed, borg warner auto-3 speed(would be quite late for this box but may be in) lt77-4 speed manual(vm,200tdi),r380-5 speed m
  7. tight like a tiger is tight, nice looking car
  8. catch a grip lad, its/was rory gallagher, without doubt. you know it
  9. this is my 13 month old, lakey x border
  10. i'd go for the .243 mate, i shoot a .222 for fox only, its expensive to feed, and also no good for deer, the 243 is great for everything from fox to nags not running fast enough at the curragh
  11. keeping up isnt a problem, he runs at a steady pace while scenting, not too fast, until he see's what he is after, he hasnt got owt yet, as i say he's really young. he's quite bidable aswell, except around my terrier, his top enemy lol, plenty of bogs around me, another reason i got him.
  12. theres a bit called dig'n tools just down a bit mate, its a good read, seems to say that the bigger the name the worse they are, home handled bulldog is being championed. atb
  13. not sure if you hound lads would class him as being from your stable, he is a fox hound x collie/bull/grey, amazing nose on him, great stamina, and quick. and only 8.5 month does anyone else run a similiar dog. he's in line to be my bolting fox dog.
  14. i know that the twat poots is trying far a ban, but i havent heard of anything in the armagh hotel
  15. 300 tdi for me all the way, in my opinion its even better than td5, so get a nice 1998 300tdi, not only a better engine but the r380 gearbox on 300tdi is far better than the lt77 on the 200tdi. if your smart i'd look in northern ireland for a defender, as our prices are alot less than mainland atb
  16. im thinking about getting a small camper/mpv, i've seen the bongos, they look the part, seem to hold their money well and are usually very clean and tidy. i was wondering if anyone could advise me on them, i've done a bit of research into them, but im none wiser, basically what i want to know is, which do i get 2L, 2.5L petrol or 2.5 tdi, then manual or auto, 4wd or 2wd, tin top or lift up. any advise is good cheers
  17. in my personal opinion, the very best lamping 4x4 would have the following 1: soft top to remove and shoot freely from 2: double cab(put kills in rear bed) 3: seats in back of cab removed, for standing up/ and for dogs and seats replaced with a custom gun safe/seat 4: petrol engine, its quieter than diesel 5: automatic gearbox 6: good mud pattern low ground pressure tyres, the 16" wide floatation type 7: rear brake light on a switch (turn off while lamping) 8: split charge battery charger or 2 alternators, to lamp of 1 battery only so by my reckoning, the perfect 4x4 for the job
  18. my current weapon of choice is a garmint its actually a 'spade shovel' not as thick as a spade, more rigid than a shovel, holds an edge, foot plates, fibreglass shaft with plastic D handle and 10 year guarantee on all parts, is really sturdy, slighty smaller than a bull nose, light weight, its really good, looks like a toy but its tough, well why would you give a 10 year guarantee on shit, cost me £28
  19. some real excellent snaps, thanks for sharing

  20. im looking for recipes and cooking times for meals in my new slow cooker, any meat, any veg, i eat anything. i'm not a bad cook just never used a slow cooker before, curry goat/venison/rabbit i think would suit the long slow cooking process, do i use same recipe, stew goat/venison/rabbit/beef/donkey i'll try anything, hope i get some help with recipes, and cooking times cheers nut
  21. i keep a fishing rod in boot of car with a knife and wellys, if stopped i say i was out sea fishing, no permit needed for sea rod, valid reason for knife too
  22. i'm with stabba on this, tiny and gutless, parts aren't that plentiful to cheaply maintain or modify, compared with the suzuki's or landy's, ground clearance is naff too
  23. dont do it, my uncle bought a tata safari, worse car i've ever been in, gutless, build quality of india, useless off road, make weird noises, parts to fix are hard to get and expensive, he found all this out in the 5 months he had it from new.
  24. my wire haired russell needs the fluffy hair taken out of his coat, he looks like a hobo dog, what is the best way of doing it, pulling it out, or a rough comb, cant see him enjoying either option.
  25. depends on how much off roading you do, bfg are great wearing tyre, expensive though. or if you do lots of off roading, try a mickey thompson baja claw
