  1. cat = sly cnut evil little feckers too, but imagine what a dog could hunt if it had the style and cunning of a cat
  2. i asked the sacs, as in my opinion the cai give their own personal beliefs and not law. its legal to run deer and fox here
  3. it is perfectly legal to run deer with lurcher in northern ireland lads. law applys to g.b not uk however its illegal to shoot any deer with a rifle less than a .236 cal, 100 grain head, 1700ft/lb muzzle velocity. please refrain from giving advice if you don't know the answer
  4. to pass the test you can eat a tea spoon of soap, 3/4hr before test, normal hard soap, not hp balanced and to be sure rub some colmans english mustard on your starfish(arse) seriously though, alkaline soap will sort it
  5. walk with the wind on your back stay tight in along the road and keep your hand away from the devils mickey
  6. i had a cb in my landy, for off roading, is this what you mean, or do you mean sitting in the house trying to talk to some ole shirt lifter on the fuzz box, in brighton from my house
  7. bull seems to me the best terrier part in the x, but could whippetx grey be better for other part. say bull whippet x bull grey, for bit more start speed. getting the right amount of bull seems to be the thing, 1/4 too little, 1/2 almost too much, or am i wrong.
  8. what type of dogs were/are used mostly by terriermen(not terriers) to catch bolters and remove quarry from earth, at the end of the dig. big lurchers or what? breeds and types please, no smart ass answers
  9. was told today that pistols will not be issued in northern ireland, except for club target use and personal protection(fuzz)
  10. i'm thinking of getting a 22lr revolver for dispatch, will the fuzz approve me for it, when i already have a 22lr rifle. i don't own a lurcher to draw, and carrying a shotgun or rifle is a pain in the arse. which revolver is the best for the job, i was thinking that the shorter the barrel the better, 2" or 3" is plenty. i'm also a firm believer in NOT using semi-autos as its not needed and adds unnecessary places for dirty to build up and cause miss fire
  11. td5 is heavier on fuel, parts are more expensive, BUT its newer so less tin worm. don't go for an early td5, they weren't very good, after 2001 is ok i'm told
  12. I quit on monday morning around 9.30, dug to 3 cubs, so i carefully bridged the break through hole with a stone and back filled. game over for me until next season.
  13. If you could hunt any quarry, in any country, with your choice of tool i.e firearm, dog, trap. What would it be, where would it be, what would you use to do it, and lastly WHY. please no "pulling down a rhino, in longleat, with my single handed beddy whippet, pre ban of course, just so i can write about on thl" I'd love to shoot a red stag, in ireland (close to home), with a .308, the reason why is, i'd love to be able to stalk it over the mountains on my door step, taking shots first with camera, then a single shot from the .308
  14. as long as you get some hunting and fun with him. next seasons demon
  15. sounds very expensive it sounds very expensive, because it could be , as i say i have 90% of the fittings, only bits missing are truck, engine and gearbox, insa turbo tyres. new swivels. all work is done by myself. total cost will be less than £2500, if it was a manual it would be less than £2000(based on experience), but i can't take an auto box apart myself to recon it, so i'm sending it away, he told me £500 was worst case senario
  16. is it border with a touch of lakeland. diggings the way forward chid, sore arms and legs from a good dig makes you feel that your day hunting was well spend
  17. the oil cooler from the disco is smaller than i want, i will be doing mostly off roading in this machine, and in terrain that will make the auto box very hot, i had thought to connect a bog brush pipe to underside of the rad your taking about, but its not really compatable or easy to connect them. maybe i'm over engineering, is yours same spec as i'm going for? i'm hoping to get a battery up front on drivers side, and just infront of the bulkhead at nearside, all with some careful wing trimming, i've seen it done already, but unfortunately never took details of the work done
  18. i'm going belt and braces with stone chip and waxoyl, but things may have changed in last few hours, as the galvanising company just come back with a good price of £250 for chassis and £100 for bulkhead, much cheaper than i thought. i like the smaller wheel, yes its a pain, but i'm allowed to have a ball on the wheel. i'm hoping to move both batteries into engine bay. i forgot to comment last night on the gearbox oilcooler, for this i will be using the bog brush style pipe, but doulbed up, this is a very important part. if i'm honest, the 90 appeals more at the moment purely
  19. well folks i've decided to buid myself a toy, i'm starting a landy project, haven't decided whether to use a 90 truck cab or 110, road comfort or off road bliss, budget means i'll be having pre 1990, obviously with best chassis and bulkhead i can find i'm only interested in converting the engine and box, and uprating the suspension. not gonna be interested in radical stuff like 5"lift with fully rose jointed 3 point linkage. so is there any advice for me, is 200tdi easier to slip in or is it better to get a 300 in. basic plan will be tdi engine and auto box, and new gearbox tunnel elec
  20. they are too expensive them belt battery set up. may just have to get 2 smaller batterys and do the lamping in 2 stints
  21. either rifle has enough power out to 40yrds to make a hole in a fox brain or heart, and holes in these 2 places will drop the fox. i believe at 40yrds the better tool for the job will be the 22lr, it will have plenty of power at this range. i've never been a fan of shooting anything bigger than a bunny with a 17hmr.
  22. now your talking. the back board bit sounds good
  23. if i wasn't way up in the black north i'd help no probs
  24. i use a 17ah battery, gel sealed. way to heavy and big for my pocket. but moves around and sits badly in my backpack. guess i'm just gonna have to make up some tabs to hold it in 1 place tightly in the bag
