  1. just looking pics of how you carry your battery while lamping on foot, i'm pissed of carrying it in a bag, and it moves around digging in. i've seen the battery on a board method but dont look to good in rain.
  2. got the bulldog, it appears to be the dogs dangleys. good length of handle, and heavy. cheers for the input
  3. amazing looking big animals, just like a slightly smaller version of our national dog.
  4. why is that?the north is british.i thought the rule would be widespread. ahhhh but we are not part of britain. we are in the uk, for sure, i.e the united kingdom of great britain and northern ireland, the ruling covered britain only.
  5. well to start with, the 170 and 240, if from lghtforce, is the diameter in mm of the lamp face. the bulb in them is 75w and 100w respectively. not sure on candle power. i use a lightforce 140 on my rifle 75w bulb, holds a tighter beam, when out lamping with my mates dogs, we use a 170, with a 100w bulb, bigger spread. most important thing to have with the lamp is a dimmer.
  6. didn't know you were into digging chid, why you not come out with me and riohh
  7. i'm getting a new spade at the weekend, and i've narrowed it down to 2 choices. 1)bulldog heavy rabbiting spade, good long slightly curved blade, long handle socket/sleeve, wooden handle, 'D' grip top £30. 2) b&q trenching spade, long blade (too long, but could be cut), steel shaft and 'D' grip top £20. i'm personally favoring the bulldog, the blade is heavy, well made and could take a bit of an edge. if/when the shaft does break, it could be easily replaced with steel pipe or wood again
  8. superglue was invent partly to fix wounded service men in vietnam, and partly to put bodys back together that were in pieces, for transport home. so i'm led to believe.
  9. never used it on dogs yet, but i certainly would, just don't glue the entire gash, leave a hole for puss etc to get out. i've used it to fix myself on many occasions with no ill effect
  10. like the look of them beddy x grey, is that 1 in your pic angelicacid
  11. only going to have the 1 lurcher so i'm thinking bigger will be better on the big things, i.e deer, but if a 23" can do it even better,
  12. bull/deer would it get down for a bunny ok?
  13. what is the biggest size of dog able to pick up bunnys, and in the same weekend run a fox and pull down a deer. don't give 2 shits about hares, not many around here. what breed or x will do it consistently? planning on getting new dog in april. want big, over 26" to 30", good coat and reliable performer. don't like the very stocky look of big first x bull's or skinny saluki look. cheers
  14. i hunt mostly on my own, although i do go digging with others. digging, shooting/lamping solo quality time alone, only person who can fuk up my day is me
  15. not got a clue, i'm not far from you, take the lead and start a club. mourne terrier club and general granite removal
  16. whats the problem, are you looking to get in on the action. or looking info on best dog to run them with. my advice is wear kevlar pants when out with them (for peace of mind), but carry on, can't see them suddenly deciding to try to finger you or lick you out :tongue4: . i ain't a fruit but i know some and they are decent blokes and burds, never been raped yet.
  17. buy it right first time, lightforce 140 or 170, and 20amp battery, and decently comfy back pack, oh yeah and a dog or gun, as she'll never last 4hrs if shes running them herself lol
  18. wee tip for bfg mt's for a landy 90, instead of the normal 265/75 r16, try 235/85 r16, they are the same height, only bit narrower, they have less road noise, they are cheaper, and in my personal opinion grip a bit better as they sink into the muck a tiny bit better. cooper dont make 1/2 the tyre bfg does, easily get 90k miles from them
  19. best place of all, is Russia, it has whale watching, hunting for deer, bear, wolf. it has massive expanse of open country for walking/treking. it has gun ranges, its cheap, you could drive there if you felt like it. its amazing. it has everything
  20. is 4x4 in quads really necessary for a lamping and off roading quad, i've been offered a cheap honda 250cc, 4x2, in not bad nick, its old but never got abused, has a rear bale rack, and very small front rack. will it handle the wet boggy ground ok at slow speeds etc. and to anyone about to comment on me being lazy for lamping from a quad, f**k off and don't comment, i know i'm lazy.
  21. i had a collie bull grew to english foxhound, he was a noisey whore. run full steam with head an inch above the ground. recall was good, really good infact. got him to hang around the earths while digging. but he wasn't from the right stuff and was gutless. as my terrier proved when he latched on to its neck, and got no reaction
  22. winchester super x £62 per 1000, in early dec 10
  23. give them a rabbit and they can be fed for 1 day. give them a ferret, 2 or 3 nets and a opinel and they can fend for themselves
  24. engine type, 200tdi, 300tdi or td5. if the lever isnt moving disconnect from box end and move lever and cable, also move the gearbox lever by hand. my mates 300 tdi selector cable froze,
