  4. i've made one already, but the problem i have is that when i give mates or family a knife they think of it as a show/decrative piece and not for working, i just read of a falkiner(bad spelling possible) made from D2 steel, he's getting it i think, better be great, infact it better know how to drive and love him at the price
  5. excellent advice folks, and i got the proof today, a big hairy rat had got him by the leg, ran straight back to me like a baby,i think your all right about my mate, kept annoying me today to get pup in a hole, so actually walked away and walked home, had enough of that crap, thanks for advice
  6. im taking my terrier to rat later today, he's just 6 months old, lakeland x border, my mates russell is coming too, he has told me that my dog should be ready for foxes now, but i think he's a bit young yet, he is a very strong dog, he has given his 3 year old russell a seeing to 2 days ago, but i think i could ruin him, am i right or should i let him do what's natural to him.
  7. 100% mate, i'm feeding fresh and raw since i got my first dog 4 years ago, after seeing the size of the crap coming out of him, i thought he couldn't be fed on 'complete' crap anymore, he has since passed on from cancer in his throat ( his mother and brother both had it, and didnt belong to me, so dont blame raw), i now have 2 pups, a springer and a border x lakeland and both are fed raw bone, i've had no probs with feeding them, they eat until full, and finish of when hungry again, and the poo is easier cleaned up as its dry, i do feed them offal and a raw egg once a week, and they are in grea
  8. my springer died in june this year at 3 1/2 of cancer, i thought of leaving of getting a new dog, but in the end i just had to get back at it, i looked around at labs but, as soon as i seen a litter of spaniels from a decent working line, i knew what i was missing, i now have a mad 4 month old pup, totally different to my last dog, obviously, as he isn't the last dog, hope you do whatever is right for yourself and good luck
  9. if people cant feed an animal, then dont have it.
  10. im looking to buy my brother a knife for christmas, needs to be around 3.5" fixed blade, and made from carbon or high carbon stainless steel, none of that 440 stainless rubbish. and have a drop point front, prefer synthetic scales(handle). no gut hook needed. i actually make knives, so i know exactly the shape, size and material i want, but dont know any good knife names to check out, i could just make it but dont want to look like a miserable tw#t. i haven't bought a knife in 10 or 12 years. i'm happy to spend up to 150-200 quid,
  11. to legally carry a knife it must be less than 3 inches long and must be a non-locking folder,
  12. why no put in a sun roof, a decent sized push back job, go on just be fancy and get a rag top
  13. i was wondering what machines you folk are using while hunting, getting there and for moving the dogs about. i got a land rover 110 hi-cap pick-up, roll bar is good height for resting the rifle while lamping, big safe style tool box/dog box in the back, holds terriers and digging gear, and of cousre being a landy it gets me anywhere i need to go, does anyone have any extras on their machines that they find handy, and that they would share designs for
  14. if your looking a soft roader dont buy a freelander, v6 is noisey and drinks petrol, k-series 1.8 has head gasket probs(unless cross bolted lower) td4 is noisey, they all like to eat transfer boxes, gearbox mounts, usually let in water and are shit, buy jap, suzuki vitara 1.9td or the likes, however if you want proper off road fun get a land rover 110 300tdi station wagon, comfort and around 28-30 mpg, and then you know with hand on heart that if you get stuck its your own fault, 96 or 97 for around 5 grand maybe 98,
  15. i just finished making a trailer, get yourself a chassis from an old trailer tent, they are galvanised and have independent suspension already, i then got 3mm galvo sheet and bent it, in a u shape (sides and top), and bolted to chassis, put in 3/4" box section as a frame front and back then put a 3mm front and a rear door on, for the floor i used a sheet of 10mm recycled plastic, there is nothing to rust or rot, the metal cost 55 and plastic 15, chassis was free, a van roof spinning air intake, plastic mud guards and corsa alloys and its done in a day i also painted it with potasium plumbate
  16. hi im just wondering if anyone has any decent ideas for work i could, my problem is that had a very serious motorbike crash, and lost the use of my left arm, i have a job in security, i work thurs, fri and sat nights 12hr shifts, im not looking to quit the job im in because i have 4 days off every week, and still get a decent wage, im not interested in big wages, just enough to cover getting to job would do, im still right and handy, excuse the pun, i.e i'm not a lazy twat, but 4 days off a week is getting boring, i dont kno any gamekeepers near me so im stuck there and farmers near me are
