  1. are they wild rabbits or farmed, rabbit with honey and chilli mmmmmmmmmmm
  2. it is a weapon to be used in the humane dispatch of fairies and gnomes, only to be used by a trained issuer of ring sting
  3. anyone use a decent quad set up, with rifle rest etc, fields way too wet for a heavy landy, quad should be or though
  4. those of you who dont use lurchers, do you use nets on the holes or shot gun, im sure thats what the nipple clamps were for, get the fox in a net a slap the clamps on, give it a swig of cheapo cider to get it drunk, then give it a chinese burn until it dies of shock, im going to join the fun, sorry for talking dung lol
  5. although i asked you all to tell me what you use when out digging, it was to see if anyone had and interesting gear they use which i dont, as usual we got the 'what you want all that for' and 'how do you carry all that' answers from the people who didnt contribute to any sort of answer, the gear you use is as different as the terriers used, some compact and do a great job, some are less compact but do same job, its a sport and as long as you dont let anything suffer longer than you have to, just do it your way within the law
  6. are hunting laws in your part of the world more sensible than uk and ireland, all pests over here are treated differently as you know, fox, rabbit, squirrel, badger and some deer, but of course only one on the list is protected, but it does most damage, passing on tb,
  7. you are all saying i bring too much, i idea of me asking the question was to find out what everyone else brings, if its less gear, what is it then, what would be your bare essentials, some of the stuff i've listed isn't essential, but gets the job done no fuss
  8. the vitara is the way to go mate, great fun to drive, cheap to run and insure, and when you drive it into town on saturday evening the tractor club don't run out to welcome you. jimny is good too, but vitara is sweet, im land rover true and true, but for a 17 year old to get insurance on a landy you'd be getting a series, slow as growing grass, and hardly a pulling car, good luck with whatever you get, happy hunting and off roading
  9. i'm selling my land rover 110 hi-cap, its done 171k miles, its on an N plate, just serviced and waxoiled, mot 12months and tax 6months, 5 x 235/85r16 hancook mud tyres, tidy truck, needing more seats has me selling, bought landy 130 double cab, 3500 sterling or euro equivilent, its in northern ireland
  10. after going to all the bother of bigging the 110 up, i have to sell it, it's just not big enough, just got my self a landy 130 double cab hi-cap
  11. hell of a nice rifle mate, and a gummy looking fox there, she's better of away, the ole uns always go for the easy meal
  12. i've never been so confused in my life, no notion of what to get, so im looking at every running dog i can, hopefully i get something within next few months, im determined to get the best breeding around my area
  13. seen a beagle x whippet today, was out on an early morning bunny bash after work, was on some new permission, on land next to it a young lad of 15 or 16 was on with it, after rabbits too, dog was 1/4 beagle, 3/4 whippet, the lad had 2 rabbits in his bag, that wee dog was in and out of light brush really well still unslipped, then i seen him slipped, straight at a sitter, 5 yards from the rabbit it upped and ran straight for the dog, kamakazi rabbit, ace looking little dog, amazingly fast. i liked it alot, but beagle in whippet isn't right for me,
  14. the gear stays in the landy at all times, along with a chainsaw and bill hook, i use alot of the same kit when tidying up around the farm the more kit you have the more you can use, in tricky spots sounder79 i suppose you just use a soup spoon and the force. as for the gloves, if you have never been bitten by a fox, keep it that way by wearing gloves, i use them to get fox outta hole
  15. i use welding gauntlets to pull fox out, they're thing enough to stop the teeth getting through, but it still hurts, i like the idea of the pole grapper yoke, but do you not end up having to dig a slightly longer hole to get it in to foxy, my first aid kit has a hypothermia blanket and eye wash in it, as for carrying it, i dont, i leave the land rover about 75-100 yards away, and most of the gear is in there.
  16. try pulling a heavy trailer off or on road with a hilux, its too light for the job, landy can pull 3.5 ton on road. it would push a hilux all over the place,
  17. your a towny, im a culchy, neither of these items are required by a culchy u force it home, no lube, just spit, as for bog roll, the leaves are plentiful, failing that just rip the pocket of your shirt, or a passing cow
  18. if its legal, its fcuked

  20. anyone ever stick Rhodesian ridgeback in a lurcher or whippet x
  21. maybe he has a pet smoker, same as normal folk have pet terriers or ferrets, i must admit i have witnessed smoking rats out, it seems to work, rats ran out doped, but a fox has much bigger hole, would take ages to fill with smoke, do you quarry a favour, make dispatch quick and painless as possible or just hang up your smoker and call you version of sport/vermin control a day
  22. just use something weird and different, anything that squeeks, i've shot 82 foxes this year and have squeeked foxes with a piece of wet grass, because i dropped my acme caller and this boy was running in fast. So as i say use anything which catches the attention of charlie, stick with your favorite for a while then if you get a shy fella, come back later to get him using a different call. If everyone uses the same call then a shy fox to me is also going to be shy to you
  23. i hope so too, blasting with a shot gun or rifle is no fun any more
  24. hilux is great reliable machine but can be a bit light for rough off road, landy all the way, rusty chassis and all
