  1. i'd stick with bfg a/t's, great wearing tyre, try to get something of similiar height, maybe bit taller, but wider, atb nut
  2. td5 chassis and boot floor are much better than 300tdi, waxoyl it well. as far as engine goes, if the injectors and water pump are ok then should be ok, its the water pump that causes the head prob.water pump cost alot less than head. things not mentioned are, oil in the loom heading from where the loom comes from engine, down to ecu, shorts out. other thing is, sun roof leaking, seems to drip water on area around ecu, answer is get an ecu extension loom, but the ecu in boot at high level, someone said to get a 2.4 td vm, possibly the worst engine ever, dead as hector, has 4 heads to gi
  3. Possibly the dog needs water, as said before, but ribs are only bones on display, so i dont think the dog is under fed, but unless you see the dog first hand you cannot possibly comment. Armchair experts wind your necks in. Folks breeding quality lines of good hunting dogs, no matter what the breed, keep it up, dont give into temptation, of adding a dog just for looks, or worse, for MONEY. atb irishnut
  4. i have a russell, very like yours, good thick wirey coat, he works nicey, hope yours works as good atb nut
  5. im a land rover man true and true, so it pains me to say that they are great, if i was ever going to buy a different 4x4, it would be a ranger, my mate has had 2 rangers, an 05 and 08 model, great machines, and very reasonably priced. he just bought a mazda double cab, very nice tool, very similiar, just not as good as ranger.
  6. i got to agree with hannah, a shock collar would be my last resort, if the dog has been trained to the level your at now, without the aid of an electric collar then why start, good luck, please dont try the "EASY" option, as this could ruin a good working relationship, as these collars have to be used right to work well.
  7. i've heard someone say that the best set up is b&f locator matched up to ortovox collar, cant say if this is correct or not. i use the b&f set up, its really good compared with the old deben, its good size, easy to use, gives accurate readings 99% of time, its been off on me once, but off by only around 1 foot to the side, its easy enough on batteries, but expensive to buy at start. 330 new, but if you have a good terrier its a small price to pay. and should last for years. never used the ortovox system, it may be better or worse, b&f seem to be the more popular choice, hope i cov
  8. my terriers get walked whether they want to or not, usually couple of miles everyday, plus whatever they get up to in garden during the day. i'm getting a lurcher on tuesday next, may have to do double walkies, 4 dogs, 2 being pups of around 4 months and under, the others are a young terrier and a 2yr old terrier, could be too much to handle in one go. but i think to myself its all worth it, as an unfit dog cant do its job to the full, i have great expectations, but i think i am entitled to as i put the work in. wouldn't swap them, if they turn out to be useless, give them away as a pet. t
  9. boys in republic, check up north for land rovers, all landys up here have taken a dive in price, £3000 would buy you a 2001 td5 disco with 90,000miles. i'll have a check with my mates to see whats about, and report back later tonight, atb nut
  10. the main problem iceman is that they seem to be proud of the fact that they put 3 dogs on a cat, kicked it, videoed it and put in youtube. know what you are saying, dogs hate cats and all that, most dogs have either gone for a cat and been stopped, or nailed a cat, but how many folk of decent mind would give a cat to 3 dogs and video it. some sad and hateful c*nts in the game
  11. 30 mpg from a 300tdi, is about right, mine once did 36mpg on bfg mt's, but it was on a long run, around 450 miles, my ass was numb. my mate has an L200 double cab, 2006, says the best its ever done was 24.8 mpg,on normal tyres, i've heard that the 3L newer engine gives better mpg than the 2.5 did
  12. thats the job mate, take all the good terriers up our side of the border, atb with the pups
  13. welcome to the forum, theres plenty on the running dog section about collie x lurchers, enjoy
  14. ive had some great dogs and some useless twats that just wouldnt work, these useless dogs i've had were given to people as pets, never as working dogs, i always neutered them before giving away to stop a crap line, only ever given 2 dogs away, both springer spaniels, excellent obedience for a pet, but they were both hard mouthed, chased game and hated water, but were perfect for pets, my aunt still has hers and my cousins dog got hit on road 4 or 5 years ago. most real dog men put too much work into a dog to pts, just because they dont work, but if it was dangerous or totally untrainable i'd
  15. bull does power to end the job collie does brains deerhound does sizing up wheaton does bushing/power just what you would imagine, cavilier king charles spaniel does mice
  16. i love the idea of stalking a big red deer stag in highland scotland, or learning how to trap and snare properly, dont do it at the moment for simple reason i dont want to do it wrong
  17. my first was a beretta al 391 12g extrema, its a belter, semi auto, so not to everyones taste, second is beretta silver pigeon, love it too, use both of them often, o/u for clays, extrema for game, then i got head staggers and bought a beretta 20g al391 semi aswell, i love it more than either 12g, weighs just 2.4kg, it kills anything i hit with it, very similiar range in real terms to a 12g, only prob with them is they are expensive. hope you get the best you can, atb nut
  18. relax mate, have a chat with the ghost, it wont do you any harm, living twats do harm not dead , ive seen 2 ghosts, shit myself the first time, second time i didnt realise it was a ghost until i spoke to it, i suddenly felt safe, best thing about the area is everyone knows its ghostly so no-one hunts there, bumper rabbit and fox spot for me, atb merry christmas
  19. if you are going to leave the mt's on all the time i'd go for bf goodrich, great wearing tyre, if you change back to road tyre, i'd go for mickey thompson baja claw, if on a sensible budget, insa turbos, they are great, but can give too much sudden grip if off road and have a heavy right foot, breaking drive shafts, i personally run bfg mt's great tyre but expensive, they have 58k miles(dual carriageway) on them and plenty of thread,
  20. what are these dogs for, mostly rabbits, or are they good for fox, im in ireland, still able to use dog on fox
  21. nice russell mate, hope he works well for you atb
  22. pit bull is not a banned breed in south of ireland, so in theory a man in south of ireland could legally have pit/fila brazilio/dogo argentino, all bull breeds, all legal there, but not up north were i am, it would not only be illegal, but very naughty indeed to have such a dog,
  23. if its never going to hve more than 2 peolpe in it at any time, then its a landrover 90 pick up, if more people then a 110 double cab, if more room needed for transporting goods has to be a 110 hi cap, or 130 double cab hi-cap for more people and goods, if you like old school style and dont have any feeling in your arse and cant feel cold, then a land rover like my 109 double cab, soon to be soft top would be great, land rover all the way, UNLESS you dont like working a cars, in which case i'd go for a nissan patrol, 4.2 straight 6, swb, pretty bullet proof. but a tarted up landy of any typ
  24. i was at an off road event recently and seen an 8 yr old lad driving a suzuki sj, rather well i may add, it had a bucket seat on a sliding rail, it lifted up as it slid forward, he's a lucky lad, driving off road while hunting at 9. hope you find something
  25. i just got a old leafer, series 3, 1982 109 landy, it is the mutts,200tdi engine and disco transfer box, front axle has disc brake conversion, galvo chassis, recon bulkhead galvo'd,half leather mgf seats, canvas top, military door tops, parabolic springs and military hangers,235/85r16 bfg at's, looks great, drives great, but hell is it cold at the minute, its getting a paint job at the moment, drab green, near same as nato green, dont get back until 10th jan. also has a power steering conversion. i swopped a landy 90, 2.5td for this, was his idea of a straight swop, the owner of the 109 did all t
