  1. Not a bad concept. Maybe a couple of bits of cardboard (plastic even better) made into a + shape placed inside your box. Cut more holes in them, and you'll not only guide the rats over the pan better, but also have several traps working in the box unhindered.
  2. Yep, paired up and building nests now lad.
  3. Great result! Used to get good numbers keeping two traps going over the spring/summer months. Alas, I don't have the time these days, which is a pity.
  4. Great job done on those pelts. Did you just dry them on boards, or are they cured?
  5. If ya have a bit of pvc pipe lying around. Cut it to size, cover one end in masking tape. Wrap jar in paper, and place in pipe. Then cover other end in masking tape. Job done.
  6. Emailed him a few times! No reply Was this something he made up himself, or something he bought in? What was written on the jar, if anything?
  7. Lots on ebay, but unfortunately shipping from the USA is ridiculous at the moment. Not worth it, unless your getting a big order of gear from one of the trapping supply companies.
  8. Not at all lad. Was just saying, nothing attracts predators better than live pray. That's why they often ignore bait in a trap, especially if it's set close to a chicken coop etc.
  9. Are you using a meat type bait ?Hedgehogs shouldn't enter a trap if you're using grain as bait, but rats will. I caught hedgehogs for 9 or 10 days in a row in a cat trap when using dog food as bait. On the 2nd last day I marked the Hedgehog with a bit of whitewash and sure enough he was in the trap the next morning. I had been catching the same one all along. I've caught plenty of hedgehogs in cages baited with nuts for squirrels or carrot and apple for rabbits. Strange but it happens Checked a Mink cage trap this morning that had two eggs in it for bait.As I got to it I could see the
  10. Think it's a genetic thing. I've seen the same thing with mink. Only ever caught two silver mink. Both were caught in the same location. Thing is, I caught the second one 19 years after the first.
  11. Thanks very much micky. Much appreciated! You mentioned paper. How much wider is the paper to the pan? Also, what type paper are you using?
  12. if you feel so strongly about them go put a bullet in Adams brother. And one in gerry while you at it he knew what his brother was up to. Anyway thoughts are with those injured.speedy recovery. Just another incident of freedom fighters bringing the fight to the aggressors. Freedom from what exactly?
  13. It'd be harder get the rabbit here, than the f*ckin magpie. lol
  14. Great service alright. Worth contacting John if your after something, and he'll do his best to sort you out if at all possible. Top bloke
  15. You can buy theme singularly on fourteenacres at 12 quid a trap. Just had a look there this morning.
  16. Typical, the original plays now lol
  17. Good idea. If i get a big her pelt I'll just have to find a bigger spoon lol I suppose!
  18. Well I've used a desert spoon with great effect for fleshing mink. Not my idea, but that of a very wise man who goes by the name of Glenn Waters. Now I don't know if it works as well on other pelts, and probably a bit small for fox etc.
  19. I've just realised who you are lol just confirmed it with you good lady lol Small world eh! Lol
  20. It's actually illegal to release invasive's back into the countryside here in Ireland
  21. This gave me a good laugh, enjoy! https://youtu.be/ZyTfSAuTcYk
  22. I believe it's the use of non-relaxing locks that are deemed illegal in the UK. So using relaxing locks, or eyelets are perfectly fine, and within the law.
  23. That would mean the above video is in fact a fake so. God damn good fake if it is. Not only did the bird hunt a rabbit, it's little feet actually carried it off on the wing. Fair enough, your bird was lazy, and maybe they make poor hunting birds, but it ain't no competition. By the way, no one has explained how you'd hunt with a Buzzard. Still waiting for the answer.
  24. I think most would agree with you there.
  25. Here's a question for any Hawkers who maybe on here. How do you go about hunting with a Buzzard? Obviously they hunt in a totally different way to most birds used for hunting, so it would be great to get an insight into how it's done, cheers!
