  1. A buzzard is a scrounger more than owt else ..they will take a free meal if they can get it...but they are a poor excuse for a hunting bird..their weak feet are not best suited for even trying to kill a full grown bunny...maybe the odd daft young easy bunny. Saw an fantastic YouTube video one time, showing a buzzard hunting. Showed amazing footage of one taking a rabbit. Sure, he took the rabbit by surprise, and wasn't chasing it with lightning speed and change of direction, but it did hit that bugger hard, and held on with those "weak tallons", and subdued the animal with ease. I've r
  2. O I recon rabbit, plays a major part of a buzzards diet.
  3. Nice to see you've found a place with decent numbers micky. It's amazing how the runs show up better in duller weather. Did you stick in a few more snares?
  4. Honey is one of most popular baits for Marten in Europe. A lot of guy's swear by it. He may need a change up though. What about getting a lure from the US. A small jar goes a long way, and has great pulling power. If not, maybe try some fish. Great smell off fish, especially the tinned stuff, and believe me, marten love their fish too.
  5. Dalm it guy's, thought we were onto something there. Still no joy
  6. Ok, so have a problem getting on here, the last couple of weeks. Site won't open on my phone, laptop, or the woman's phone. It tries to open, but delays and says "timed out, check server". No problem with any other site I go into. Thing is, if I'm out of the house and turn on phone mobile data, it works no problem. I know f*ck all about computers, or phones for that matter. What the hell is going on?
  7. Keep that good pelt and try the process with another one. Loads of video's on YouTube. Most methods are time consuming, especially the softening/ working the hide. Some methods are cheap, others expensive, but all include working the hide, as far as I'm aware. I got a dvd off eBay which shows the process very clearly. Shows a couple different methods too. Can't think of the name of it, but can check for you if you want.
  8. Just because there's rats around doesn't mean mice aren't stealing your bait ..... Agree with you socks. Most likely mice, or at the very least little juvenile rats.
  9. I'm guessing the lurchers ballsack in a MK4 fenn.
  10. What age we talking about here? Probably cage traps are the only real option.
  11. They are a good mink trap though micky. (The mk6) I agree they aren't the best killing trap, far from it, but they are a perfect type of trap for pockets, and cubbies. They ain't no rabbit trap though. Much better traps out there, for that job. I agree that they work better in a Cubby but a bodygrip would always be my first choice , as for the M6 being a ;GOOD MINK TRAP i have to disagree, how can a trap that consistently fails to kill ferrets humanely dispatch a mink , given time it might but so will old age . What I mean by GOOD MINK TRAP is that (only my own opinion) mink t

  13. No. you would need to make one or use a wire CubbyGot some in New Zealand that work with a Fenn This is just one example. There's lots of similar brands on the market. You also have these from UK Where you see them ? The green box is from Solway Feeders, and you'll find the black one's on many New Zealand trapping supply sites. Probably all way to expensive for what they are.
  14. Micky, is covering the trap something you've always done? Do you find it improves your catch's?
  15. I like the idea of skulls in a display cabinet, or something on that lines. Might get a bit lost displayed on a wall.
  16. You can buy a proper tail stripper on ebay, or bushwear, for a few quid.
  17. Here'so another method of tanning a hide. This guy also has video's on making fur clothing etc, some of you might be interested in that. https://youtu.be/guvwFXwUJSU
  18. Salting the skin will not tan the skin. Salting really only takes the moisture out of the skin, but the hair will eventually start to fall out after some time.
  19. I'd say JD won't be giving out that information. I wouldn't lol
  20. True he has EDDIE but that said I was struggling to find some of the beats on this ground,so woodga had to show me,the grass was short in places A couple of hours our snaring with Woodga or Glenn, would be worth more than anything you could learn off the net.
  21. Not sure on the bird feeders but the dogs leave no food behind Well their getting food from somewhere, not your garden, so a garden close by. Might be worth investigating.
  22. Box made from a bit of ply, is handy enough make. Make sure its no wider than the trap when set, and no higher than the trap when spring. I'm sure there's a few theads on here, showing how it's done. A search on here, or a Google search will give you loads of info.
  23. Woodga has thought you well Mr Tea Pot! ?
  24. Just out of interest, do either of your neighbours have a bird feeders? Also, do your dog's tend to leave food behind in their food bowl?
