  1. Thanks for the understanding words lads The shoulder is on the mend but net making still causes a bit of pain so production is slow, the Mrs is doing her best ,bless her . Moocherboi I haven't forgotten you ,mate soon as I can I'll get 'em done and pm you . Thanks again everyone
  2. I remember those early locators, feckin things, used to pick up Radio Luxemboug and everything on them I wouldn't ferret without a locator now, they weren't about when I started and being the youngest in the group guess who got to sit and wait for the ferret to come out
  3. 12 meshes wide is no good mate...you've been had The very least I would go down to is 14 and that's only on machine made nets...on hand made nets 15 is the minimum . Sometimes length can compensate for lack of width but why pay extra for something you should be getting anyway?
  4. The Complete Book of Ferrets by Val Porter and Nick Brown it's been around for a few years but still very good.........I think Amazon had some
  5. Good luck for the future mate You can always change your mind again at a later date
  6. Good write up mate, well done What part of the country you from, I know someone looking for a good landscaper
  7. Drop a letter in to this coppers chief constable, politely remind him of the law and inform if this happens again you'll write to your local MP............incidently if it does happen a second time it's police harrassment and you've got 'em by the short and curlies. tempting tho it is don't tell the dickhead to f5ck off.
  8. Great write up and pics mate Good to see the kids enjoying it. You're gonna get some stick over that pink 'Realtree'
  9. All mine are rescues.....that's not unusual they prat around for a while then suddenly seem to switch on. Some are better than other admittedley but I've never had a complete non-worker
  10. Good luck to your dog, you and your lad mate.......awful thing to happen
  11. we had a good time tho That's the important thing, mate.It don't matter that your dog ain't exactly built for speed as long as you enjoy yourself atb
  12. Nice one mate ....your ferrets are gonna love that
  13. Hi Robert Like the old Dutch purse nets(wood endings) very interesting,it looks like you burn the holes through the wood? Those net/cage traps look good too, great way to cut down on wieght O rings are traditional in the UK but about a year ago I ran out and tied a couple of hundred nets onto D rings. They all sold OK and nobody seemed to mind....not one comment ATB
  14. nettenmakin I managed to work out what that meant Was that you in the video Dutchie? I noticed that the guy was tieing onto D rings. Is that common in Holland? I've tried it and they're a bit fiddly to start but the general finish is better than nets tied onto O rings ATB
  15. Well done mate, good write and pics I started ferretin' with my Grandad too....few years ago now tho.....well actually more than just a few
  16. This is a good 'un...Prescription Vets Stuff at half price......and the girl knows what she's talking about www.northolm.co.uk
  17. Good post mate, you did well for a 1st time out. Sounds like your hob was enjoying himself too much to want to come out....often it means there are still rabbits to be had....one tip, when your ferret comes out don't GRAB it...first of all it could be still fired up from the fight and bite you, secondly, if it thinks it's going to be GRABBED every time it exits a bury it'll start skulking just out reach, which will drive you fckin nuts. Always LIFT a ferret from underneath rather than pick it up, if you see what I mean ATB
  18. You can usually count on getting about a dozen nets from a 500gm spool of hemp but I agree with Leeview...practice on dead cheap garden twine...that way when you fck it up you can throw it away without costing you much money ATB
  19. I think a lot of 'wool' nets are in fact spun nylon, which is very soft and sometimes fluffy like wool.....it'd be easy to mistake spun nylon for wool and I don't think 100% wool would last too long ATB
  20. You can pick up fibre glass for about £2.50 to £3 each if you look around I think Liam Brinded was doing them for around £2.25+p&p Problem is once you've bought them they last for ever and I've lost touch with prices
  21. Personally speaking I don't think these sick f5ckers are safeto walk free in society . Bad enough they're prepared to do it to dogs..........how long before they try it on a person???
  22. No disrespect mate, but that's first time I ever seen that in print and I've never heard it said You must have the patience of a saint ATB
  23. I tried them once ,couldn't find anything more suitable at the time. I think they're just too rigid and broke quite easily, fibre glass or carbon fibre gets my vote every time ATB
