  1. earth-thrower...why should the local council provide a molecatching service for thier tenants ?
  2. It's a perfectly valid question and the law as usual isn't too clear on this...BUT...the law is clear on taking all possible precautions when trapping to avoid taking non-target species (protected or not) so they've got you by the short and curlies either way...so it's got to go in a cubby, natural or man made tunnel . Just one point to remember though...if N.E. prosecute you on this ,it's because they've got a better than good chance of a successful conviction...is short if you're in court for not using a cubby of tunnel.....your arse is grass
  3. Got to agree with J Darcy on this one. I think the vid demonstrated how leg hold trapping can be carried out without the terrible cruelty of the old fashioned gin traps .
  4. www.protrapper.co.uk sold by a guy (not me!) who's forgotten more than most will ever know and uses collarums regularly to devastating effect
  5. Couldn't agree more ....just started using 116's on rabbit (from protrapper) no going back to Fenns for me
  6. I feel I owe a lot of you guys an apology for not answering your messages over the last couple of months . The fact is earlier in the year I fell out of attic and buggered me shoulder up . The good news is that although they still don't really know whats wrong it's vastly improved and when I can start net making again THL will be the first to know . In the mean time....many thanks for your patience...your a good bunch of lads
  7. I know this chap as Bob the mole...used to see him at the midland making purse nets on Simon Whiteheads stand...really nice ol' guy. Your right Steve Albano the mole does have to enter the trap quite a way but the killing loops are at the end of each trap . These are the traps that Mr Duffus designed the half-barrel trap around
  8. Got to agree with this...out of the packet and into the field...let them weather catching rabbits if they need to weather at all......like he said , save the parsely for the fish
  9. Go to every Kilgerm breakfastmeetings and workshops he can (see thier website) is he a member of BPCA? go to thier regional meetings anyway same with NPTA and Barretine Check if the BPCA /RSPH II qualifies him to use ali phos...if not he might find that handy Don't believe the BPCA/RSPH II will tell him everything...it's just a starting point Go to job centre ask about funding for courses including business courses (tchc Ltd funded one of mine) read, watch, learn (hope he's got a driving licence) scrounge every bit of info he can
  10. After locating and diggging out an access hole you slide both types (trapline and no-mole) down the run, you actually push it in the hole So they only work in one direction .Then you back fill the access hole . I believe the no-mole is the trap you're thinking of Torchey
  11. Killgerm are supposed to be the sole importers but you can try and buy direct off traplines website. I got some and they've been pretty good but I think the "no-mole" trap might be even better....from www.protrapper.co.uk
  12. You'll definitely get them there.....check around for the best price tho
  13. Try Cambs Ferret Welfare at The Sandringham Game Fair this coming weekend
  14. The greatest difference between spun nylon and spun poly is that spun poly is so much easier to tie.You can get both in a variety of colours and as far as price goes there's not much to choose (Agouti is very good)and the same goes for performance. If I was to tie a large number of nets for myself I'd go for spun poly.
  15. Something wrong there some where..less than a pound each???? Were they 2nd hand or new?? How long?? What grade nylon are they??
  16. Yeah, well we won't ask what happened next
  17. I don't believe even the ArsePCA would do this. Probably some dickhead some where who thinks it will stop the ferret killing down. Of course the other point is that it's against the law
  18. If you're just starting out ,mate, you need to go for one of the heavier nylon twine nets until you've got the hang of handling nets. I'd got for for 6Z at the lightest better 8Z or 10Z I've found 12Z can be a little too heavy. For goodness sake don't buy 4Z, I know they're cheap but they are the worse sort of crap.
