  1. In respect to councils doing sewer baiting that is still the responsibility of the local water authority and the council I work for recieves a report I think every quarter with regard what areas are being baited and what takes are being found. This contract is awarded on a 3 year basis to one of the major national companies in the yorkshire area. If we have an internal rat job were we suspect a drianage issue which we investigate with a camera dye or smoke we refere for a sewer bait for the specific area around the property. In respect to council pest control being subsidised you a
  2. There has been a lot of discussion and debate about the positive or negative effect using a ULV can have on bed bug treatments. When these questions first started coming out questioning the negative impact it could have due to the fact it is a pyrethriod which could drive bed bugs further into harbourages because it is an irritant. I stopped using ULV and evaluated what impact if any it had on resolving a bed bug infestation. The conclusion I came to was jobs definately took longer to resolve and I reverted back to using the ULV on every bed bug treatment and visits reduced . S
  3. The black islander company advertise some gaiters and the write up indicates they are a good product. I have black islander scratchless boots and they have been excellent.
  4. I have found deben excellent for repairs and servicing. As others have said check batteries first. I have had some 9v batteries die after one session and collar batteries need replacing regular. As soon as i start getting funny readings or inacurate ones batteries are replaced. Just gone to rechargable 9v batteries to cut down on cost.
  5. Is the web address correct just tried to look at the site but it cannot be located.
  6. We get a number of these calls every year and your responsibility before applying any insecticide is locating an insect which justifies its application. We use basic eco traps and these have picked up insects of concern in both domestic and commercial premises. Some of these issues can be quite emotive with very distressed customers . As others have said bed bugs are very difficult to treat time consuming requiring repeat visits. location of bites can be an indicator with cat and dog flea biites below the knee. customers dont have to have pets to have fleas. Static electric
  7. Dido have you spoken to the local bee keeping association and identified the local swarm coordinator. You will be surprised how helpfull these people are in these type of situations. They will give advice on treatment and also on any local bee hives in proximity to the location of the colony. Some colonies i have come across and been unable to treat due to been unable to fullfill the post treatment requirements have died over the winter. You have some times got to walk away any financial gain you get will be vastly outwayed if there is any problems. Explaining the reasons y
  8. It does happen there was an issue recently on carlton towers at selby where the keeper run over a lads dogs and also shot one. There are lads on here who will know exactly what happened. All hell broke loose with the keeper needing police protection but it is my understanding he is still there. A lot of years ago a farmer on the edge of my village shot some dogs with a bullet gun. One of the dogs was killed outright but another dog which was on a lead was shot with the bullet going striaght through. The dog died later. No one could ever understand how this farmer ke
  9. I would get the customer to light a fire and their is a strong possibility the heat from the fire will drive the bees out or some no insecticidal smoke generators. Obviously that brings you no income but it resolves the problem.
  10. Hi around the area I live rabbits had virtually disappeared over a vast area including railwaybankings and woodlands but what a dramatic turn around there has been since spring. The numbers have exploded with rabbits now everwhere I walk in significant numbers and still very young being seen with just this week starting to see another lot of young less than half grown around. There has possibly been 4 lots of young since early spring. I have lived here for 50 years and had never seen a crash in numbers which began possibly five years ago with no indication why. By the same tok
  11. Gloria 5 litre sprayer stainless steal is the most cost effective. I have had mine 14 years now and with regular servicing it has never let me down and has been excellent. It is so simple to totally reseal clean filters and do routine maintenance. Ever part is readily available through killgerm with drawings in their catalogue. Fit the variable regulator which ensures you are spraying at the correct pressure. Crack and crevice nozzel is also available. The usage this sprayer has given outways the investment it has paid for itself 100 of times over. You get what yo
  12. I asked the mechanic I use the very same question. Aviod pre 2009/10 navaras engine made of chocolate. Isuzu cheap but extortionate to repair he advice to aviod. Hilux recommended but try and find a reasonably priced one very dificult. Mitsibushi reliable. I opted for a ranger which he recommended reliable motor and cost effective to repair. A bit basic compared with the competators but hard wearing. I spent some time looking and got one which had been used as a family car no tow bar and reasonable miles. Returned 30 to gallon towing a quad all winter very comfortable
  13. I have used the xl8 for 2 seasons and would not go back to the dust stick. Decanting ficam has always bee an issue and using the dr5 cuts this to a minimum which is also a big plus for it. It has cut down dramatically on call backs which must be the better ditribution of the powder. Using it horizontally across extensions has no effect on performance. I thaught it would be an issue using it in damp weather as can be a dust stick but it has not. I have had the odd issue with blockages but they are cleared easily with a foot pump to discharge and clear. One modifica
  14. I live east of leeds and there used to be a significant population of rabbits in the woods road side margins along railway bankings and there always had been. I started to see a decline roughly 5 years ago which coincided with the first buzzards I had ever seen in the area living there all my life. These buzzards have raised chicks successfully year on year. The rabbits have disappered with buzzards seen in all the areas where i used to see the rabbits and I regularily put them up along the wood margins and railway bankings when walking the dogs. There is also an area where
  15. There is a lad from york who advertises we have had a number of boxes from him and they have been excellent in fact I dont know how he makes them for £20 for a double. I picked the last 3 up just before christmas and they seem even better quality. He is located at Acomb. Mark Scott. markscott42@icloud.com
  16. Totally agree with lurchers i have kept jills for years and only breed them when i require a replacement. I have never lost a jill which has been left in season all summer.
  17. What size has the dog made is it a first cross spaniel greyhound. Do you know how any of the other pups have turned out. It is a cross I have often fancied for the ferreting we do. Does the dog mark sets.
  18. Milford farm shop/Turkey farm on the side of the old A1 between Fairburn and Micklefield you can either by whole carcasses or frozen minced carcasses a lot easier to store. If you want whole carcases check before travelling.

  20. Can anyone recommend a cheap company for quad bike insurance. I only want to insure the bike for theft when it is at home in the garage it is not used on the road.
  21. I have a 13 year old bedi greyhound who has never had a problem with the dew claws and i have had coursing dogs who never had an issue with them. Personally I would not pay that amount of money without seeking additional prices from possibly a greyhound vet. I have been around dogs for years but have not come across people having problems with dew claws.
  22. on second season with mine and they are superb all the people i know are using them some had them 3 seasons and nobody has reported any problems.
  23. Does anyone know where you can get a manual for the ranger. Have seen some downloadable manuals but never done that before so not sure how good the information is.
  24. Wax oil would possibly be better as it has a rust inhibiter in it stopping rust developing further.
  25. I baught one in june so have not had it long enough for any real issues. When I baught it the mechanic I use inspected it and put it on his computer to check for faults cost me 40 pound but this can be wiped prior to inspection. Driven simpathetically returning 30 to 33 to the gallon. Fantastic to drive and very comfortable. Pulls like a trian which has surprised me as some said they are sluggish. I tow a quad bike and you dont even know its on and is still returning 30 to gallon. Have made to measure dog cage and racking which I would advice to maximise load spac
