  1. Hi the clear tubing which connects the PDF powder reservoir to the connector on the first section is a full piece. I added the 2nd section and cut the tubing with 6 inch protruding from the second section add a 6mm tubing connector and connect to PD5. My reasoning for this is I saw having 8 m of tube filled with powder was a potential unnecessary potential blockage issue when only using 2 sections of pole. I have cut the tubing to length for each section and now only use tubing as required to the sections of pole. As said the connecters are dirt cheap and connect and disco
  2. Wasps jobs coming in regularly now with 4 jobs nearly every day. Significant difference in stage of development with some only as big as an apple and others nearly as big as a football. 2016 was a significant year and from my records I am ahead on the same dates and numbers per day are also in front. Walking the dog tonight around a local woodland we located 2 nest and flight lines visible along woodland edges. It is some years since I have seen these numbers so early. With the XL8 I modified the tubing supplied and cut it into lengths to suit each section. It is very rare
  3. I have a bedi greyhound first cross and I wouldn't go ferreting without him. 100% marker. At the start I found it difficult t read him but his style is going into a stealth mode up on his toes tip toeing across the sets which now is impossible to mistake. I just follow him across the moor and ferret where he marks. He has put dozens in the bag when you think you have cleared a set and you look round and he is marking 1 hole and sure enough ferret in and another 1 or 2 in the bag. What impresses me the most is when he marks and you get one or 2 out of a massive set. How
  4. If conditions in the property are as you say i would walk away unless you can get the customer to improve conditions and work with you. You will never be able to resolve a bed bug problem in such conditions with all the insecticide in the world. This type of situation is common place in the private rental sector. Working for a local authority we would refer this onto private sector housing department and depending on the age of the children social services and arrange EHO involvement. Your heart goes out to some of these people and in particular children in such situation
  5. Hi all what percentage of rats you catch are adult rats. I catch dozens every year both internal and external of properties in traps but virtually everyone a young rat possibly up to 3/4 grown max. This being just a reflection of how neophobic or educated adult rats are. We have a contract where there is a compactor so cannot totally deny access to food source and I have caught literally dozens at this location with nothing bigger than half grown with traps in bait stations. Does anyone have any improved catch rate of adults and how are you achieving this. In roof spa
  6. Does anyone know if Brinded nets have stopped trading. Web site is still there but ben unable to contact anyone via mobile or email. Mobile numbers are still live but no one is picking up or returning voicemail enquiry.
  7. Does anyone have a picture of the net and carrying basket nelson makes are they nets 4z or 6z. What material are the poles made from.
  8. Details of the big wasp survey are available on the country file web site. As part of the survey the people undertaking the survey are also looking for brood and adult wasps from colonies. The team is based in the bristol area and anyone who is Bristol/London based and could assist the project with brood and adults from destroyed nests would be very helpfull. Contact details are on the country file web site.
  9. Pair of extended long nose pliers. I have had a couple of blockages which has required removing the copper pipe section and clearing it. It has never dropped off. It fits into a rubber section of pipe inside the reserviour so if it is dripping off it may be indicating the rubber section is worn. All parts are available to repair. Apart from a replacement hose they are very reliable.
  10. We have a Honda 350 2004 and it has been excellent. Kitted out with baskets front and rear for ferreting on grouse moors we would never be without it. When looking for one i was adviced to aviod the newer models with selectable 2 and 4 wheel drive and auto gear shift due to problems.
  11. I had an X reg TD5 and it stood me between 500 and a 1000 pounds every year with mainly electrical problems. Keys not working relating to corroaded reciever in the roof due to water ingress around sun roofs. Air flow meter Fuel Pump. Injector £500 for relpacing 1. The other issue is diagnostics which is a dealer or independant with the relavant equipment. Also economy is a big issue you need deep pockets. It was a pleasure to drive otherwise with no mechanical issues and pulled horse box like it wasnt there but i was glad when daughter finished with horses
  12. I would have a look at gone2ground boxes. I dont know how he makes them for the money and mine with regular care have lasted some time. I cant see you makeing them for the money being charged.
  13. Sadolin durable wood stain. This type of product is micro pourus allowing water out but not in. If you paint with a gloss or normal varnish you just seal the water in an the box will rot. I give my boxes a good clean end of season quick rub down with wire wool and 1 coat of sadolin and boxes are like new. I have used sadolin for years on my wooden windows and 23 years later they are still in A1 condition.
  14. Done my first wasp nest treatment today just a starter nest in a shed with a single queen. Workers were not too far from emerging. The first nest i did last year was 24 of june so nearly a month earlier. Work mates have also treated some with one already having workers in it.
  15. The situation you describe is a bumble bees nest with new queens emerging. For us it commenced with the first nest last week and now has gone crazy. The new queens emerging are giving of a fermamone or scent which draws male from the area to mate with them as they emerge hence the sudden explosion of activity. You have treated but the feramone will stil be there so further treatment will possibly have no effect. Until it disperses activity will continue. Yes some times they are problamatic to treat requireing revisits but it could just be the queen feramone. Unless t
  16. I watched a video and on that the gentleman put a lot of emphasis on stabilizing the duffus trap in the run by packing either side of the barrel with siol and ensuring there was no lateral movement on the trap. Since taking on board this advice i have had very blocked traps and the catch rate has improved. I always use duffus apart from one job where the land was very wet and i could not catch. Swapped traps for talpex and cleared the job in no time. You live and learn. Just been walking today around Semerwater in Wenslydale whoever traps there is good there is jibbits with
  17. Could anyone recommend a trail camera. I am looking for a trail camera to use in roof spaces when undertaking rodent treatments and for circumstances where it is unclear what is the cause of noises. Any advice would be much appreciated. From google searches the Bushell Essential E2 and the Browning Dark Ops Elite get recommended.
  18. Try gone2ground have had a number of boxes light well made and long lasting if treated. Superb value for money.
  19. We have a Honda 350 2004 model and it has been the best £2400 pound we have ever spent. This goes anywhere and with the addition of some bolt on baskets to carry everything has been a godsend on the areas of open moor we ferret. Apart from a new battery it has never missed a beat. When looking for one we were adviced to buy this model due its no nonsense manual gearshift. We were adviced some of the newer electronic gear shifts and selectable four wheel drives have been problematic. One of the things which has surprised us is the instability of it on rough terain.
  20. The vehicle is a 2007 ford ranger. The fault light has always been for egr valve which i am told is the most common fault on modern engines. I want a reader to check that its the same fault for peace of mind and to save cost of repeated visits just to be told it is the same fault. Had egr valve stripped and cleaned but fault light has come back on. I am now looking towards having egr blanked off. Thank you to everyone for their input.
  21. hi rabid what make and model is the one you have.
  22. Does anyone have a fault code reader. What make and model and how easy have you found it to use.
  23. I have a 2007 2.5tdci. It had 114000 on when i baught it and apart from egr valve has been no issue pulls quad up to dales like its not there and a comfy ride. looking to blank egr as has been mentioned more trouble than its worth putting on the warning light which without taking it to garage you do not know that. I think every one would agree the hilux is possibly the best in class but the second hand value is just too much.
  24. Could you give a little more information about your experiences of reliability of the iszuzu cost of any repairs and mpg I currently have a ford ranger which has been reliable apart from re occurring egr valve issue which mechanic says is the most common fault on all vehicles by far. Just had it stripped cleaned and refitted. Currently getting about 30 mpg.
  25. I baught a 2007 ranger just over a year ago it had 114000 on the clock and had been used as a family car no tow bar. I have had no problems so far use it all winter towing a quad up to yorkshire dales and travelling across grouse moor. It is realy comfy does about 30 to gallon even when towing and tows like quads not on. Just put 2 cooper dicoverer at3 tyres on the front following good reviews on here. Prior to buying i asked a mechanic friend which on to buy and he adviced a ranger a bit basic insid to some of the others but honest and relable. I have made to measure a dog
