  1. Dogs are allowed to stay in many Travelodge hotels
  2. Yes i agree the high jump is away to long and many of our younger enthuiast's have not seen such an event So hopefully they will take part and enjoy it. Many Thanks For Your Continued Support. Ian Is there a high jump competition for terriers too?................or is that an idea for the future?
  3. fecking animal shelters. they drop the guts or balls from animals after 14 days too(well my local ones do). they dont go out of their way to find out if the animal is lost or stolen. if it isnt tattoed or chipped, it must be a stray or dumped.. in my eyes that is 1st class theft, charity my kunting arse!! Stray dogs picked up are checked for microchips - if they are not wearing a collar with up to date identification or microchip how are they to find who owns them? Surely it is up to some one who's dog has gone missing to actively search for it, preferably before the 14 days, after w
  4. How old is it? Young pups can be hit hard by diarrhoea and dehydrate very quickly.
  5. I'll put this forward then: Don't give the dog a full cake for a meal, instead cut it up into decent sized peices and yes, either feed it as a training treat or just a filler at meals times. If you want something you can use as an actual meal for the dog that is high in fat and weight adding ingredients then you can try making satin balls which are freezer friendly too. Satin balls..............sounds a bit kinky!
  6. What age is the bitch and what are you feeding it on? Put a few recent pics up.
  7. I think that is an unfair sweeping statement to make. Cross breed dogs can be worth a lot to the folks who own them, only they are in a position to name their worth. Who is to say the lab x GSD did not make a good guard or the lab x springer a good gundog or the lab x collie a good mountain rescue dog or indeed all the other mutts who are REAL WORKING DOGS in that they really do something useful like being trained as hearing dogs for deaf people? I agree there is no need to pay big money for a dog, whether it be a cross breed or indeed a pedigree riddled with health problems. But it
  8. Bet he smells of boiled cabbage.
  9. Would you have another full whippet or a different type if you were in a position to get another dog?
  10. Can you produce any fact based evidence to back up that statement?
  11. So if the whippet x terrier turned up measuring 13" at the shoulder with a 2' long tail - what race would it run in...........terrier............whippet .........or non-ped whippet?
  12. Question for Albert and other show organisers. Would you consider putting on a race for greyhounds at the shows? That way, people with greyhounds could give them a spin up the track against their own type? This could include people who use them for hunting, breeding, racing at shows, retired and rescue pet dogs and ones who never made the grade for the track for whatever reason? Also -perhaps any disputed' lurchers' (99% greyhound) could join them, rather than run against the lurchers? I realise this could perhaps involve more work but it could perhaps be a solution to the problem?
  13. The vet is running a business - sounds like they were giving you a realistic picture regarding possible costs - allowing you to make a decision on how you wished to proceed, bearing in mind that the bill was likely to be high and the dog was not insured. Hope you got it sorted ok.
  14. The Malinois seems to be a 'serious' kind of dog. I wonder if they are a healthier type than many of the GSDs?
  15. ive never heard that before or believe it 50/50 in my opinion if you put a beddy dog on a whippet bitch its 1/4 beddy 3/4 whippet was big into greyhounds few years back always looked at the bitch first if i was getting a pup thats why i said id see other opinions Can you put a link up showing showing some evidence based scientific reports to prove this? Surely this breeding would be 50/50/ half cross?
  16. You could do some voluntary work - like helping local old people with their gardens, odd jobs etc.................they might be grateful and remember you in their will.......?
  17. Charm them away by rubbing them with a potato cut in half................then bury the potato! Other than that, stay healthy and wait til they go away.
  18. So are you hoping to breed them or avoid breeding them?
  19. A couple of weeks good care and grub and that bitch will look so much happier. Good on you for getting her sorted
  20. Frontline is sold in doses calibrated for use on dogs. The other is for much bigger animals......cattle, sheep and pigs. I wouldn't take the risk with my dogs. I would pay the bit extra so there is less chance of a disaster due to wrong dosage..
  21. Yes, it does indeed.................now imagine if it got really, really fu*ked off and laid into the pup through frustration, pain or whatever.......the pup has no way of escape and is likely to get a severe pasting! So the adult dog has had its temper ruined, the pup is wrecked and all for what? Stupid idea.
  22. america is a big place to generalise. some places you cant walk through without getting shot or threatened by gangs. I was in San Francisco in January and it was definitely mixed up, one street can look really smart with gucci shops etc, go on street down and it is crawling with smackheads screaming at the walls. I got a bit lost looking for my colleagues at an 'Irish bar' and ended up walking about at night on my todd, I am not exactly danger mouse so I didn't feel particularly safe. It wasn't so much I thought I was going to be mugged by a scary gang man, it was just how crazy the hoard
  23. I have relatives in England who I visit several times per year...............but always glad to get home again.
