  1. you will probs just to have her on a muzzle for a while i know a man whos dog killed a cat and he had to have it muzzled for 3 yrs! oh well hate cats anyway Did he get done for it under the dangerous dogs act? Does that take cats into account? I know the police don't get too excited about dogs attacking other dogs.
  2. Is that smelly puppy in your avatar?
  3. Hope all is well. Why would you leave your car unlocked?
  4. Sick indeed. Women need to WALK AWAY and STAY AWAY from violent men. It was sad listening to her interview on radio 2 yesterday but watching her on the tv news was heartbreaking.
  5. You say the dog was a pure grey and the bitches mother 'rough-coated'................do you know the exact breeding of the bitch ? I think that's the thing with dogs of unknown breeding or percentage of unknown breeding, you can get 'throwbacks' and as skycat says, it could be too early to say what the pups coats will end up like,it hardly matters either as long as they are fit for purpose. Are you getting one of the pups?
  6. Anything with Clint Eastwood, especially Dirty Harry, Play Misty For Me and The Bridges of Madison County. He is just so cool. I love all his films except the ones with Clyde the orangutang, Every Which Way But Loose and Any Which Way You Can.....just too daft for me.
  7. I see an article on the BBC News Norn Iron site today about Mourne Mountain Rescue......is this the organisation that will benefit from the show?
  8. Hows it going Rob! I think its different in the house, because the house is YOUR place, the dogs should know that you're in charge of that house, you're the dominant one so any messing around then its you they've got to deal with! In a Kennel its different, that Kennel becomes their own space where you dont even go apart from cleaning it out and feeding them. In the house you can keep an eye on them easier too. So I personally don't think it applies (apart from acceptional cases of course). But are you there 24 hours a day 365 days a year to supervise them...............? Obv

  10. As it grows, especially when it is growing its adult teeth, its ears will be all shapes. I wouldn't worry too much as long as they are clean and show no sign of infection or mite infestation (black/brown waxy appearance).
  11. Regardless of how much we humans wreck our brains trying to interpret how dogs feel, think and interact, how much we try to reassure ourselves and others that 'my dogs don't mess about, they know i'm the boss' imagine how your guts would turn to water if you came home one day and found one dog had ripped the other to pieces - that dog, probably the smaller dog, the terrier, would have NO option of escape if it was penned with another dog. I imagine that would be heartbreaking having to shovel it up. I wouldn't take the chance.
  12. It is a KC breed, as stated in the above article, and is described as a 'vulnerable' breed. I would translate that as possibly having a small, narrow gene pool and therefore possibly very inbred with problems? The one above does not look as athletic as a border collie, but maybe its not a good photo? I wonder if there are many working on farms?
  13. Also, add to the above, people who are sick of dog dirt in the streets and public parks and dogs running loose causing a nuisance, especially the unfortunate types that were obtained by 'hardmen youths' and then let run the streets when they no longer have any interest in them as a living thing that they should be responsible for. The council and charity dog shelters are full of dogs like these,Staffies, Akitas, Rotties etc -all over bred and under appreciated. Sad really. Who should be responsible for paying for rounding them up and euthanising them?
  14. Yes - I know that has been the case supported by heavy advertising in the run up to the legal deadline. But it is only at certain times and involves a trip to a certain vets or certain pet food stores. I am sure that there are many people like me for whom it was more convenient to simply take the dog to the local vet and pay for it. What we are offering at Ballywalter is not something that is unique but something that is convenient if you have your unchipped dog there. We are indebted to the Dog Trust for facilitating this. Albertj Yes it is an excellent opportunity for
  15. Microchipping for free has been ongoing in local vet practices for some time now in conjunction with the Dogs Trust. Neutering too.
  16. MULLET HAIRSTYLES WITH HIGHLIGHTS..............FOR WOMEN AND MEN!
  17. I would say 20 miles is too much. Maybe you should run instead of riding a bike - that may keep it at a more manageable pace for the dog. The dog may not actually be 'loving' that level of forced exercise, it is after all just feeling under pressure to follow you as its leader. Don't forget as well that the weather is heating up.
  18. Have you been told this health & safety angle for a fact? I know some disabled people who have worked and lived independantly all their lives and are proud of it.
  19. I had a terrier of 12 weeks break its hock. It was splinted (which the pup promptlty removed each time) and restricted to cage rest for several weeks. It healed perfectly and she has never really had a lame day since. She is 11 now and still runs everyhere at full speed! Looking back, the cage rest was important, don't be in too big a rush to get it off the lead and back in action. Good luck!
  20. I was 8 years old at the time............i found it all very confusing as It as also the year of the Queen's silver jubilee and there was lots of talk of the Royal family in school, on tele and in the papers. With all the crying of 'the King is dead' I thought he must have been the Queen's husband!
  21. I got one similar recently in my junk mail box. It looked like it was from Royal Mail but I knew I hadn't ordered anything.
