Anyone want a Magpie Call Bird
Born Hunter replied to mally's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Very good of you to offer, I managed to beg a pair today otherwise I might have been taking you up on that. -
Also on a more serious note, I know a person who lost a springer in a brick drain exactly like that...... the drain was full of water, the dog fell in and drowned before it was found...

Lol, reminds me of an accident I had last summer. I was just walking by a dyke through the entrance of a field and my foot went and my whole body instantly turned upside down.... Once I had stopped fighting I realised I had fallen through a broken part of a big brick culvert going under the field entrance and my legs had gotten caught in the roots etc hanging me upside down in the nettles and other crap! f**k me I've never had such bad stings ever, but lucky I got caught in the roots otherwise I would have been in the water. Shits you up a bit...

how many yards should i zero my scopes in at
Born Hunter replied to Lukehunt's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I've always followed this simple rule; 25 yards for .22, 30 yards for .177. More importantly learn the trajectory intimately and stick to it. -
True, I keep buying the same mags, hoping that this week/month it will have changed from the last time and have a few decent articles..... then I flick through it, skim over one article and the give it to my mate. Talk about PC bollocks..... ffs most countrymen want to read the real deal stuff written by men that still have dirt on their hands while typing it out, not the 'Big names' that just repeat the advice BASC etc pump out. I've e-mailed editors before requesting terrier work and more hard core pest control stuff but the best they dare publish is a bit of ratting. It's also clear to

I'm struggling to visualise this and just thinking out loud but could it possibly be the result of a disslocation? Not sure on the exact location though. Popped out and back in again causing tendon damage and a lump of scar tissue? Also, if it is bursitis as Sandy highlighted then would a vet possibly prescribe ultrasound treatment as with humans?

I think he should be punished for having a dangerous dog. In this incident there is a very strong argument that the dog was acting in defence of the owners home. But I'm not just considering this incident. People picked fault with my comment, not the otherway around, and my comment was based on the whole news article, so the "dog attacked someone on a bike" incident is entirely relavent. For those that bothered to read my first post, I did say words to the effect of "if the news report is to be believed then...". If there was no mention of the dog being reported as a dangerous dog and

Yes you're right, but the dog was a dangerous animal and it's a good thing it's dead. It's as simple as that. The police should have been prepared for it and as you say they should have showed some bollocks rather than everyman for himself and f**k the poor sod that the dog's got hold of. Like I said, same old story. But I for one am glad the dog is dead. well should every case not be judged on its merits? I'm not at all glad it got shot, because it does no good for bull breeds reputations. in fact this could be worse than a child getting attacked (for the breed),because

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the dog was minding his own business, when all of a sudden 5 blokes kicked the front door in and invaded the house.... As Blan89 said on another thread, what was the dog supposed to do? Realise they had a warrant? As far as I can see the dog defended its home and owner as best it could. Did it not say in the report that the dog had history of aggressive behaviour? "Neighbours revealed they had reported the animal, described as a brown dobermann/pitbull cross called Poison, to the council several times. They said it was responsible for other atta

Same old story. At least the dog is dead now. The only piece of legislation they need to enforce is a compulsary bullet for dog and owner that are responsible for these attacks. Too many don't take owning a dog seriously enough. If the report is accurate then ANY responsible owner would have behaved very differently to that one. If you have a need for such a dog then you would not act so carelessly and if you had no need for such a liability then you would have the f*****g thing destroyed.

I don't really do 'relaxing' but if I'm stressing about something then I have to think about it and figure it out. Best way to do that for me is to get out for a good mooch about or go for a drive.

BH i agree with Uni Fees for those looking for a cop out on worthless degrees being stopped. But there are BRIGHT working class kids who cant afford the education they Deserve and thats just how those at the top want it. Keep the working class WORKING and paying taxes to keep them in the manor they are used to. Why can't they? I graduated in July 09 and was the first year of students to have the 3k/year fees. My folks didn't help me out financially and I had no savings. Go to uni to do a worthwhile degree and it does not matter what background you come from. Grades, graft and good dec

Not something that'll effect me too much, I don't drink or smoke. I do use a fair bit of diesel though. Meh.... life goes on, shit times so what do folks expect. Max, putting uni fees up wont stop anyone going to uni other than the dossing chancers that do micky mouse degrees to spend 3-5 years getting shit faced and come out with a shite degree to get a shite job. No matter what background you're from, it's grades that matter. On a cheerier subject, traditional pubs are few and far between but they're worth our support. The only local one I know of is a proper countrymans pub. Nothing

Hypothetical question regarding breeding?
Born Hunter replied to Big bald beautiful's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
I shouldn't think most would grumble at either breeding. -
a few years ago i trapped around 3000 rats on a farm and poisoned god knows how many, there were also around 25-30 cats on the farm when i first started, That place sounds like a bit of fun moley!

Why shouldn't you be ashamed? If you can work and don't, I would for one consider it a f*****g disgrace. No-one owes you anything, you have to earn it and a big problem is when people think they DESERVE to be able to sit around and let others pay their bills because they have paid a bit in tax. I know you mean genuine people, I didn't misread it, but if the OP is a genuine case then so am I, I couldn't be a tiler or plasterer either, so guess what? I work in an office, I f*****g hate it but I am not a scrounger. Also, if my leg got injured tomorrow I wouldn't suddenly decide sitting in an offi

The trouble these days is that there are so many abusing the benefits system that many people view ALL those that use it, including the genuine ones, with contempt. It's a sad state of affairs. Anybody is entitled to use the benefits system when necessary and should not be ashamed to do so, it's there to support you when times are hard. Genuine people are affraid and ashamed to use it and find it an utter struggle to do so anyway yet the scourge of cheats that seem to be the stereotype enjoy the easy life it gives them. How do you go about fixing such a messed up system?
