OMG you are a conspricay nut.... I knew it would'nt be long untill aliens were mentioned. So to summarise so far; Darwin was amateur Evolution is hokum and any new species or mutations in species is impossible There have been many previously advanced civilisations that have been destroyed by catastrophe and left ABSOLUTEY NO evidence of their advanced existence And now finally, aliens visited earth to teach these things and the ONLY evidence is some very crude pictures. My only question..... Can I put in an order for the perfect lurcher for next time the Alf drops by?

You are f*****g crackers! I don't even know where to begin with such a load of utter bollocks. Darwin an amateur! haha I suppose your grandfather was a physicist of such degree that he had pets of higher intelligence than Einstein? Created in a lab no doubt by aliens that the 'great creator' put there. You sound like a typical conspiracy theorist. Can i ask how you know so much about this man and 'Catastrophism'?
-
Please explain. I didn't know that primitive man had laboratories. Or are you just on a wind up or some interesting chemical fantasy enhancer? I believe he is refering to to the theory of Catastrophism that George Cuvier was a proponent of. From wiki; "Cuvier came to believe that most if not all the animal fossils he examined were remains of species that were now extinct. Near the end of his 1796 paper on living and fossil elephants he said: All of these facts, consistent among themselves, and not opposed by any report, seem to me to prove the existence of a world previous to o

Interesting, especially the theory of 'self domestication'. I can see that happening quite easily, just look at how urban foxes have become so tollerant of humans. These early dogs sound pretty powerfull beasts by the description. How long untill someone is doing a jurassic park special and crossing one with a greyhound in the lab?

There's some properly messed up people on this site! Jam, lemon & sugar or just honey for me, roll em up and devour....

If i remember correctly that was fake as well, maybe an anti-abortion thing? I think Hannah put it up. I don't think it was a fake lab but if I remember right there was a bit of controversy over it. It appears to show a baby actually grabbing the hand of the surgeon as if thanking him. Like you said, the anti abortion mob used it for their cause. I think there was another picture hannah put up that won some sort of international competition, a dieing african kid struggling for for help or something. i think the photographer got a lot of grief for it and killed himself. The little monster finally grows up a bit
Born Hunter replied to skycat's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Is that the little ball of trouble I saw back in the summer when I came to pick up my kits? Wow he's grown into a looker! Will you let him see anything on the lamp before the end of the season? How did your kits turn out? Mine have come on steadily, havent given them as much work as I would've liked but one of the jills in particular is impressing me! The other is very daft and 'kittish' at times but has worked very well when she settles down. The hob is a bit more timid than the jills but has finally realised what his calling in life is and last weekend I was very happy with him. It could -
My mate has had one for a few months now, every week he shows me something new he has found. Old paper weights, coins, buttons, a musket ball and last night he showed me what we think is the end of a WWII AA shell, but unconfirmed as of yet. Quite interesting but not my thing at all. A lot of history in our area dating back to the Romans so it's not a bad place for it.

Christ Marvin! Where the hell did that come from? I guess some of the syptoms to do with social interaction could be imposed on a young child by poor socialisation etc but f**k knows....

Generally I agree Chart. All I was saying was that if that same dog proved to be exceptional at the rabbit game then the fact it failed at its originally intended purpose would not bother me as it contained all the right stuff for what I wanted. Proven lines are very important but I wouldn't be afraid to take a pup from a breeding where a parent was a failed fox/hare/deer/rabbit dog as long as they were exceptional at the job I wanted the pup for. JMO

We're talking about breeding rabbit dogs. If breeding from dogs that jacked on rabbit I would agree but jacking on fox does'nt imo have any bearing on whether a dog will jack on rabbit, so imo that statement in irrelavent.

How can "the best happen to be a failed fox dog " ?? If it failed at what it ws bred for, but happens to catch rabbits, then it can't be the best ! If I wanted to breed from a very good rabbiting bitch, and rabbits were going to be the pups main quarry; then why on earth use a stud that failed at what it was bred for, when there are any amount of very good rabbit dog studs out there ? It just doesn't make any sense to me ! Cheers. Why..... If it happened to be shit hot at rabbiting and was the best stud you had available then why not? I never said it was likely that the best would b

You really are priveliged to some good hunting jiggy! Nice to hear the big dog done the job for you. I'm sure with a bit of refreshing he'll see the difference between sheep and feral goat. Would the kelpie cross manage one? Had a good do out my self this morning with the dogs, bit of meat for the freezer and successfull vermin control.

The f****r PMed me asking about lamping and touching me inapropriately! I'm not shitting you either. Bless, my first stalker..... I feel two timed now though red!!!!

I hope not as they are out of season....

Christ, it was painfull watching him fannying around. And then he cuts the live buggers antlers off! Good deed but f**k me.
-
Surely you breed the best to the best! If the best happens to a failed fox dog or failed hare dog or whatever is that really important? Of course in an ideal breeding both parents would come from a long line of proven workers all doing the job on rabbits but are you all saying you would turn down the best rabbit dog out there as a sire just because it wasnt bred to be a rabbit dog???? Good breeding aint that common never mind the 'perfect breeding'.

Unfortunately you're right. It would'nt matter if there were 60'000'000 signatures, the government won't risk breaking international law. i know its fecking mad,,, other countrys just feck it ,, look at france,,,, or the china,, did you see them on top gear just blatetnly copying cars,,,, or the worst of the lot south korea Yeh I did watch Top Gear and just had to laugh at the bare faced cheek of the Chinese. Fair play to em though I suppose. Then again, I dare say if China had the same predicament we have here they would just enforce media censorship and shoot the b*****d.

carring badger twins  of ethnic background with ginger hair and a disability, LOL. All us hunting folk should be ashamed of our selves, I never realised we were so barbaric untill the media told me so.....

Does'nt anyone use it as an excuse for a good old wind up? I would have told her they were badger tails and watched the opinionated clueless cow hit the fecking roof!

I really love daytime mooching with the dogs, hardly ever catch anything but love it! LOL. Nothing quite like watching it all unfold; the terrier is hunting hard on a thick patch and the lurcher is tuned right into it all and then BANG the chase is on! The dogs really tune into their handler as well with this type of hunting, they have to, man, lurcher and terrier are equally essential members of the team. It's the nearest thing the average man can get to Fell hunting. Just hunting in it's purest. I only wish I had the time and land to be out 3 or 4 mornings a week, I doubt the lamp wo

I think what you call common sense thinking Gnash is just the basic human survival instinct to protect those of your own and f**k others not of your own. Would you agree? I don't think many people would knock that thinking at all, it's such a natural basic instinct that is essential in a world where natural selection has ruled since the beginning of time. The trouble is we all define 'our own kind' differently. From your posts I get the impression your definition is white British? That's fair enough and in an idealistic world that would be mine to. Unfortunately though that simple but defi
