Over the years there have been ALOT of decent and valued members of this site leave, many without saying a word, just slipping away. Unfortunately people don't realise, being pre-occupied with arguing and bullshitting.

dont u just hate it ( mucked about off farmers )

I cleared a few sheds of ferrals for a farmer whos land holds a hell of alot a rabbits, thinking i would get my foot in the door and then ask for the rabbiting all of which would be a mere formality.......................... dropped by to check how many pigeons I had missed and ask about the rabbits to be thanked greatly for nailing all of the pigeons and be told that he already has a couple of lads doing the rabbits that come from 50 mile away!!!! getting 60+ rabbits a night with their f*****g rimmies!!! He didnt want to upset them by giving me the ferreting, GUTTED! -
Regardless of the debatable history the Islanders are British by choice (other than one little scrote), the Islands themselves are British, life ain't fair so f**k em.

Good luck and good on you! It's a damn shame to see land without the odd hare. One thing I would consider though is why are'nt there hares there already? There will be a cause which might need addressing first, otherwise you may find that any re-stocked hares soon diminish. Predation, land management, farming practices, over hunted, poor natural ground for them etc etc. Might be worth consulting a Game Conservancy boffin? There will be some big driven hare shoots in lincolnshire starting within a few weeks where litterally thousands will be shot over the period of a month. Try to contact s

It's about time the CA or BASC etc or a coalition of these supposed pro fieldsports organisations used the good hunting folks subscriptions to good affect by funding a small series that covers all aspects of country sports! Including keepering, shooting, lurcher work, terrier work, hawking, ferreting etc etc. Show the real hunting folk and the respect they have for their countryside and the quarry they hunt. Oh yeh, they wouldn't want to be seen to be protecting the dogmen.................

i was like that with judo,,, ony wanted to lern for working doors,,, never did a grade,, just went week in week out,, go to a boxing club born hunter I wish I had gotten into boxing or kickboxing when I started Uni. A few other students I know did it and the clubs were decent. I've started this climbing stuff now and really enjoy it. Just don't think I'll have the time for anything else, it's a push now trying to fit it in without sacrificing normal gym work too much.

My life is pretty much work and hunting. Other than that I try to keep myself in reasonable shape and enjoy it a lot. Just started indoor climbing, bouldering, which I'm really getting into. Tried Ninjitsu with a couple of friends that were banging on about it. Went once and didn't think much to it, too much about 'learning the way of the ninja' and not enough about fitness/training/fighting. I felt disrespectfull going and not giving a shit about the history etc. I used to do a bit of stargazing when younger which is something I would like to start again, probably not for a while yet

That's what I wanted to hear! It's a diesel engine and I had just come off of the A1 come down the slip road and onto the round-a-bout doing probably 20mph when it went.

How was your 2011 deer season

Thats what i was asking for mate. I was just surprised at the average weight quoted. Guess I'll never know for sure untill I start weighing the few I get. -
Cheers fellas. I'll try to be diplomatic and keep my cool, lol. Just need to know my legal rights before speaking to them so I actually have something to back it up with. The link wxm put up seems very usefull and I'll certainly have it to hand when on the phone in the morning.

Thanks for that. Looks like if they say "tough shit" it's gonna be a drawn out affair to get anything. it also says What the law says Car servicing or repairs is a service which your garage provides for you and so you are covered by the normal consumer protection laws. This means that your garage must: - fit replacement parts that are in good condition, that are able to do the job and that will last a reasonable length of time 250miles reasonable amount of time???? i think you have a good case mate Yeh that does sound promising. Just hope the garage see it that way

Cheers mate. I honestly don't know what they did but I know the parts cost £128 +20% VAT and that was for "CAM BELT KIT" I hope your right! My cars mk4 VW Golf estate. Supposed to be trouble free........

I hope so too scot! While out lamping last year the bloody alternator went while driving down a rough farm track in the middle of my mates permission. That was a ballache but fixed simply enough the next day. This though is really badly timed and a bit more serious! Surely they they can't just say it was my bad luck? 10k down the road, yeh fair enough, but 250 miles!!!!! They're meant to have a life of 70k!!!!!
-
So your saying it's perfectly normal for them to snap after 250 miles? Genuine question.
-
Had a local garage replace the timing belt on my car last week at a shade over 400 quid! Done probably 250 miles and on my way lamping tonight the f*****g thing snaps and the cars dead! Just got towed to my mates house and dropped off back home pretty pissed off. My main concern (other than having to take holiday with work untill I'm sorted) is what are my rights? Are the garage obliged legally to repair or replace my motor? It's clearly their fault, certainly ain't mine!........ Or am I f****d? 400 quid to wright off my car and left feeling sore............. FFS someone give me some

Is there really a need? Parts of England are lifting with hares. Anywhere that needs restocking should just use re-located hares. Cheaper and easier. Besides I don't think the anti's oposition to hunting with dogs is based on the effects hunting has on a population, more the percieved cruelty involved and the fact we enjoy the act of hunting.

I personally prefer the home gym approach. With plenty of weight, a simple bench and a bit of initiative in the yard you have most of what you need. I just find it fits into my lifestyle better and I rarely have a problem with motivation, changing my routine regularly though is always a ball ache, something which I think would be easier with a gym partner. My situation has'nt been perfect since finishing Uni but I'm making gains again, steadily. I've just started climbing with a few mates from work and it's really added a new angle to my training that i don't think I'll drop now.

Don't really see it as any less sporting than lamping rabbits with a 22 rimmy. Looks a good crack but from a sporting point of view I would prefer to do it differently.

I see what your saying, but are the pure breed sight hounds really of value to us any more? They are essential in the creating of the 'lurcher/longdog' but these days do we not have enough working lurchers out there to ever need to look at a pure breed again? We all talk of what we have lost with the greyhound in terms of hunting prowess and I agree the greyhound is not what it once was (though I still hold them very highly). However, what the greyhound was was a very fast sighthound of the British isle used to course deer, hare and anything else the nobility found sport in. Do we not have

I kind of see where you're coming from Sandy but have'nt you answered the question yourself? We have a number of established lines of lurcher bred for one purpose only, to hunt. Just because they vary in breeding, appearance and have no 'pedigree' status I don't think that makes a pure breed any more valuable. The first place I would be looking if wanting a lightening fast sighthound would be a line of lurcher to fit that description. Have I missed the point?

Mostly hedges and shoot spinneys with fecking massive flat fields inbetween. Loads'a Bramble, Blackthorn and Hawthorn! Some places are just too much for me to do on my own and I just have to tell the keeper/landowner that unfortunately. I used to have a couple of mates that came with me and we had some decent days together but their commitment and passion was found lacking... It's tough land but I would rather have a decent ferreting partner than easy land. And keepers wanting you to do everything but forever laying down 'rules' to protect their birds does'nt make things any easier. Give m

Had the odd time when I'm trying my hardest not to make eye contact with some nosey fecker while stuffing some dead critter up my top and grabbing at the dogs collar to very swiftly make an exit. Head down, hide the quarry, grab the dog and dissapear...... fecking quick!

It's threads like this where the real deal dog men that walk the walk and the dreamers/jealous wannabes show their true colours. That book of Darcy's is his greatest yet IMO, hell of a read.
