  2. Credit to you both, sounds like there is a good money to be made. I would love to do something like this one day. All the best to you both.
  3. "she did say that the sight of my ringpiece flashing like a brake light was impressive"
  4. Wet yes, dirty yes, not hurt though. If the bike had fully rolled things might have been different though. I'm a good driver!................... when I'm looking where I'm going lol. I knew I had a left turn but was looking the other way down the margin of the right hand field wondering where to move a larson to next and whoosh!
  5. Just out checking the traps and my attention slipped for a second...............

    Simoman

Simo's one of the good few on here. Wish him and his family all the best.
  7. Seen folks cop a few No 6 shot the odd time. Even seen one get a pellet hit her in the face! But the worst was when a mate accidentally stuck his brother in the leg with his knife! f*****g panic stations untill we realised it wasn't serious and just needed a couple stitches. That's what happens when knives aren't haddled correctly though. Been bitten by a pissed off cat once that went straight through my thumb nail but nothing bad, never been bitten by a fox or owt... All these accidents were careless mistakes that could have been avoided! Ya live and learn
  8. Going out a fashion I would agree but certainly not dieing out. The posers are perhaps trying different stuff now but the people that work bull crosses for what they were bred for are still keeping the breeding. It can only be a good thing for the bull lurcher but not so good for whatever type comes in 'fashion' next....
  9. your going to end up way of the earth no mate just giving site suggestions. I think its a good idea. Can you hear that?........... That's IanB loading the Luger ...........
  10. It's not a bloody democracy! This is IanB's dictatorship! Step out of line and ya get the THL firing squad. LOL
  11. This thread is becoming quite interesting. It would be great to read some academic work on the evolution of the hare. Some good questions being raised. This is my take on it; the hare has tremendous sprinting stamina and speed, would a predatory bird like an eagle necessitate such stamina? Perhaps not if only hunted one course at a time but for a surface dwelling prey animal like the hare I suppose it needs the stamina to survive a number of courses in quick succession... I believe the hares speed and agility would get it out of most situations but not having anywhere to hide, unlike the r
  12. Tomo, wolves are apex predators they hunt in packs, they go for the big boys, i.e ungulates animals with hooves...bison,deer,etc,etc I cannot see them wasting energy on a few mouthfuls to feed the pack, for so little return..So disagree with that theory.. I think its more to do with the land and terrain they originated in...open plains, grasslands, reduced cover the brown hare was supposedly introduced just like the rabbit, the mountain hare is our true native hare.. I believe Arctic wolves will hunt hares in a manor similar to modern coursing, hunting the hares by sight and runnin
  13. I'll be watching bits and bobs if i catch them. Track and field doesn't interest me much but I do enjoy the kayaking and gymnastics, f**k knows why because I have no desire to do either. I watched the bmx trials last time and that was mental, hope to catch that again. Tbh though the winter olympics are probably more interesting to watch on the whole.
  14. You just have to judge each permission as an individual. If you can get away without doing it then that's great but it's often summer time when the landowners are seeing bunnies everywhere and wanting them gone. Whether neccessary or not I always shoot a few rabbits over the summer months for the ferrets. It's not nice shooting a milky doe knowing the kits will starve though.
  15. Ha, the number of times people say "the worst that can happen is they say no" on knocking doors for permission......... Bollocks, the worst that can happen is ya get ya head caved in by a raving farmer! Just poach, it sounds healthier round your way!!! haha.
  16. My hob had his op 2 weeks ago, £81 for the op and I asked to have samples sent to the lab to make sure they did it right at a cost of £60!!! Probably unnessecary but it gave me piece of mind. Rather shell out 60 quid than have to cull potentially 4 litters of kits. The vet reckoned 6 weeks untill the little fella is ready to see any action.
  17. We caught our call birds on eggs last year straight away but this year there was no chance of that. Got a call bird and with in a few hours we were hammering the little bandits. Sometimes eggs work somethimes they don't. You'll struggle to catch a magpie with a crow call bird. Blag one from someone, most people are catching well now. Where abouts are you?
  18. Less than 4% is the target of competetive bodybuilders on contest day........a footballer running round a pitch at less than 4 % bodyfat would collapse within 10 minutes.......a man couldnt hold bodyfat of 2 % for more than about a day and still be alive !...... Peaked out fitness is not a healthy state to live your life and you certainly cant hold condition like that for a long time.......i believe top level footballers maintain around 8 - 12 % bodyfat...... My theory is its like a racing car engine....the more highly tuned it is the more can go wrong......too highly tuned for performance a
  19. Gnash, credit to you for doing this. I've only ever done a night here and there, nothing like this. One thing I would be doing if I was you would be a sat-sun trial hike/camp. It's alright messing about in ya back garden with ya kit and thinking it all through while the tv adverts are on but a weekend trial run will give you a bit more of a taste of what's to come and show any not quite so obvious issues. Any serious expedition would do the same. A bit like sea trial for a new naval ship . Just a thought fella....
  20. If that is true then I am Captain fecking Scarlet! So maintaining less than about 4% body fat is healthy is it?

    Tax!

Just because two things coincide does not imply cause and effect.
  22. Interesting this topic should come up today as it was only yesterday evening I saw a nice shiny kania on the side of a mature hardwood just off the road in a local country estate. Thing that surprised me was that it was there bold as brass for everyone to see with no tunnel attached.......... now I know why, lol.
  23. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17657814# Woooo!
  24. Not a chance, they can't even do a piece on shooting/keepering without having to get an anti on to voice 'their side'. Where was the professional terrierman/keeper to put across 'our side' to the public and show that there are law abiding professionals that work terriers? Makes you wonder who's getting backhanders in the BBC from the LACS. If it's an illegal fieldsport every other word is "barbaric" or "bloodlust" and if it's a legal fieldsport every other word is "controversial" and "sport???"... If I ever had the missfortune of meeting Craven I would have to try very hard not to land
