They're cagey around bobcats because they also have lynx and they're far more regulated by Fish & Game... Coyote's have bounties in a lot of states. Ours is $50 and you have to hand in the scalp, with both ears, and the lower jaw. If you're good it can be a lucrative income as there aren't any quotas. Essentially it's pest Vs game animal. If I ever get my shit together I intend to experience some US hunting for myself. Be nice to have a crack at some predator hunting as well as game. A mountain hunt and wolf hunt probably being the pinnacle for me. The US model for conservation,

The political spectrum is more accurately represented in two dimensions. The conventional left right spectrum is a bit misleading. -
Should Night Vision And Thermal Imaging Been Banned From Hunting
Born Hunter replied to Fox finder's topic in General Talk
Lets not lie, shooting rabbits or foxes with N.V is childs play. I'm not, and I agree. Though I still think lamping is easier. But this holier than thou attitude that I'm reading is f***ing laughable. Sporting ethics are totally subjective. I've used NV, thermal, lamps, rifles, shotguns, run lurchers on a variety of quarry, dug terriers, bushed with them, snared, trapped, followed hounds on foot in lowlands and the fells, shot driven birds, walked up, roosted, fished and ferreted. If I thought I could have a go at something new then I have tried and fecking well enjoyed it! I'm not -
Should Night Vision And Thermal Imaging Been Banned From Hunting

Well I hunt in nothing more than a loin cloth with a my wits and bare hands as weapons........... I only consider it hunting though if I've exposed myself to 3 months of arctic winter first. Anything less is just unethical murder! I mean, fancy using another animal to kill for you! Or god forbid one of those bang stick contraptions! I look down on all of you townie 'hunters'! -
At least you can drag them! I dare'nt on the crops. Over the shoulder and try not to give myself a hernia. LOL 2 miles is a fecking good slog in hill country though. Fair play. It does kind of make it more rewarding though.... kind of.

Yeah it did, lol. And thanks. I'll have to take my brother out for his first deer now.
-
I'll only take what I can use. The landowner doesn't see them as a problem so they're purely a sporting and culinary asset. It'd be criminal to flatten them.
-
So I don't usually post much of what I do on here but this one was quite pleasing... My brother passed onto to me a decent bit of permission early this year as he was struggling to keep up appearances. Tbh the rabbits and hares aren't particularly hard to keep on top of and the landowner is really sound so for the potential sport of roost shooting, rough shooting and stalking it was worth the effort. Anyway, after having a chat with the landowner last week now was my time to get out on my long awaited first stalk on this land. Primary target, a young fallow for the table... I had t

Should Night Vision And Thermal Imaging Been Banned From Hunting

Leave it to every man's conscience, and make an effort to teach sporting ethics. Imo, they're tools for pest control, tools for a job. For instance I wouldn't dream of using thermal while stalking simply to help spot hiding muntjac. But then ethics are subjective, plenty would consider a rifle unsporting.... plenty would consider lamping unsporting.... Nightvison, ie image intensifiers, are no replacement for lamping imo. They have limited use. Thermal however is a game changer when it comes to vermin control! -
Good 3G connection and camera phone. Otherwise how will you post pictures of you roughing it on here? LOL LOL Kill a deer and make jerky before hand. It's gorgeous, keeps well and nutrient dense.

"We had a list of 10 people we had to kill straightaway to stop them blabbin" f***ing hell, imagine orders like that coming out in the papers these days! There'd be billions spent on enquiries and lawyers and media spin. Back in those days no action was off the table in defence of the country.

Okay so had a quick look at Montana fish and wildlife and bobcat do have a quota, they're not classed as a predator but harvestable furbearer. Still, I doubt belting one in his yard would land him in any bother, Lol.
-
There'll be a closed season and a legal limit to the number of animals you can take each season, depending on what state he's in obviously. That's fair enough but I didn't think there was a quota limit for bobcats, like there isn't for coyotes? And I assume they're in season as it's winter.
-
Is it illegal to kill the cats then? I can't see how things would have been different had the cameras not been there. He's no different to a lot of terrier lads, he just loves the hunt. Killing is doing himself out of what he enjoys. Jmo
-
LOL, I thought exactly the same. He f***ing loves chasing cats though. Wasn't a small tree either! Haha.

Gibson London etc? http://www.gibsonlondon.com/c-all_waistcoats-7821 Bit too 'highstreet fashion'? Otherwise I'd probably look at the staple shooting brands, Schoffel, Musto etc.

My Beating Experience..........
Born Hunter replied to TRUEBRIT66's topic in Driven, Walked Up, Rough Shooting
It's worth remembering that not all driven shoots are the same. Broadly there are three types, commercial, private and syndicate. If you want a low pressure, friendly type shoot find a decent syndicate shoot where beaters and guns all mix freely. The craic is excellent. Boundary days on commercial shoots tend to have a similar relaxed atmosphere. Of all the types of shoot there are I've heard the most negative of reports be in regards to experiences with commercial shoots, from a beaters point of view at least. I've little experience with private shoots, the only one I do know of is excell -
Why are we paying a non EU state to protect EU borders? It makes no sense! Why not pay EU members to protect their own borders? Give Greece, Cyrus and Bulgaria the help. But then it makes feck all sense a country not having complete control of it's borders full stop imo.
