Indeed, as I've said, fair play to the bloke. However, as much as I aspire to the life of a millionaire, I really couldn't imagine a more fulfilling life than that of a true frontiersman/explorer. Socks mentioned Ed Stafford, I'd throw Sir Ranulph Fiennes out there as well. Modern explorers that are simply a level above and will be remembered as such. The golden age is well behind us for Earth based exploration but still, imagine leading/supporting a lifetime of expeditions to far flung hostile corners of the globe for any manor of scientific, political or commercial reasons! That'd be inc

The man has created a brand, his energetic, bug eating, tree climbing persona is that brand. It's what teenage boys and young townie men want to think survival and adventuring is all about, macho Andy McNab bollocks. It sells and fair play to the bloke imo. Look past all that and he has done some reasonably admirable things that display character way above the Bear Grylls brand persona. I wouldn't put him anywhere near the top of the fields that he presents himself in, survivalist, adventurer/explorer etc, but he's not some average fanny that is a total fraud either.

Something just 'right' about rabbit stew. I rarely make a stew if it's not rabbit. Spot on fella.

The Gold Medal Goes To The Team From......errrr ?
Born Hunter replied to Blackbriar's topic in General Talk
theyll never be good swimmers as they're to busy raping children in the changing rooms The IOC would have to be very clear with them that gang rape does not feature in the team events. -
The Gold Medal Goes To The Team From......errrr ?
Born Hunter replied to Blackbriar's topic in General Talk
Well, it'd be great material for swimming jokes..... -
That thing can hardly be considered a dog! The Shepherd probably thought it had found a squirrel. The copper should keep his dog under better control. I don't think the dogs behavior should be viewed as unreasonable personally.

Are a 2-300 quid pair of bins really much better than a 60-100 quid pair? I was using a pair of cheap 60 quid fixed focus 7x50s the other day and they were crystal clear and seemed well made for what they were. I was very impressed tbh. Now I doubt they would have been much use in demanding light conditions which is where your £600+ brands come into their own but for day use is it worth spending more? I'm in the market so it's something I've been pondering...... Think I'm favoring a compact pair of swaros or leicas for my needs but the quality of cheap 8x50s etc really got me think

Social Liberalism!............ 'Equality' by decree! LOL Liberalism has become so bastardised that it's come to represent forced equality. Always makes me laugh when I'm mocked for calling myself a liberal. Anyway, I don't want to take this thread off topic. Great input as usual Wilf, very grounded.

Maybe in the way a catalyst initiates a reaction, but as a 'mesiah' if you will, a trail-blazer of changing politics, I can't see it. The mans an authoritarian. Liberty doesn't seem to register with him imo. The only reason he's popular is because we're all authoritarians at heart....... so long as the laws are our own! We all hate authority when it opposes us though. He's selling a form of authority that is easy to buy into for the conservative working man of America. That's a backward step for me, the way to break the system is to reduce it's reach, make it smaller, not support authority sim

Good timing, I wanted to try Biltong next. I'm quite keen on jerkying my venison, been experimenting with that and loving the results. It's way too convenient a snack to last more than a month! LOL. I want to oak smoke the next lot of jerky. A mate did Biltong hare a few years ago which was decent. Good stuff mate.

Had to deal with a saluki lurcher that had been left after a run last year. The 'owners' didn't try very hard to retrieve it and just drove off in the truck. Trying to get rid of a homeless dog on a Sunday evening is a b*****d, no one wants to know! There are ethical ways of dealing with unwanted working dogs, just leaving it in the field wet and cold isn't one of them. And no it didn't 'come on top' for them, they left the dog and drove off from a very quiet country lane where me and my brother waited and searched for the owners to return their dog. It's shit to see people treat their

Four men smashed through his living room doors, beat him, tied him and his missus up and raided the house. Perhaps they simply asked the location and he gave it due to the immediate threat?

A jitty is a new one on me. Where does that come from? East Midlands. According to wikipedia it's a Derbyshire/Leicestershire term. I was raised around Linc's/Nott's/Leic's. Colloquialisms have always fascinated me. I think it started when you're a kid and met other kids on holiday from all over the place. They'd ask if you wanted to play a game which you'd never heard of but when they explained the rules it was a game you had a different name for (and even some more rules but the principle of the game remained). For some reason we ended up calling football "togger" when I was growing up. "

I also don't think that we should ban the media reporting on such things. So long as it is done in a manor that does not actively support the distribution of such footage. There's nothing in what mackem has written that suggests either he or anyone he knows watched it, or for that matter that where he read about this in any way supports it's distribution. Completely censoring discussion and reporting of these things does nothing for a free society or for that matter the safety of a society.

BGD just take a step back and reassess what you are saying. You have made some pretty damning statements based on some poor assumptions. You've assumed that because mackem can describe the events of this video that he must have watched it, without any consideration for a legitimate alternate explanation. Like perhaps he read a news article about it? I've read no less descriptive reports in mainstream media. From there you have accused him of having pedophile 'mates', assuming that if he did indeed not watch it himself then he must have a nonce mate that told him all about it. Just stea

"If people sat and looked at the stars each night, I'd bet they'd live a lot differently" ― Bill Watterson “You develop an instant global consciousness, a people orientation, an intense dissatisfaction with the state of the world, and a compulsion to do something about it. From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a bitch.” ― Edgar D. Mitchell, Apollo 14

Another mind bending thing is.How did they time the time.as in 365 days.seconds.minutes.hrs.months.how the feck could they work out the length of a year.the people back in the day knew a lot more than the educated people of today. Figuring out that there is roughly 365 days in a year is fairly basic astronomy. I'm not saying it is not cool but it's hardly on par with modern science. Our ancestors weren't plebs but they simply couldn't teach a modern astronomer much.

Rifles For Shooting Seals
Born Hunter replied to Gill Netter's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Maybe worth considering a stainless rifle too. Bit more robust to the elements in what I imagine will be a hard life for a rifle....... -
A few favourites that I'll buy.... Ham, egg with mustard mayo sandwich. Crayfish tails, rocket and harissa mayo sandwich. Prawn mayo with black pepper and lemon juice in a warm baguette. Nothing outrageous I don't think........ Marmite and cheese is a good snack!
