  1. The man's a hunting outfitter, he earns his living from taking paying sportsman out hunting. I doubt he'd of left such a valuable trophy to 'swim free' even if he hadn't suspected it was a problem animal. The American model of hunting, conservation and wildlife management that this is part of is exceptional and the rest of the world would do well to take note and study it. Is it really any greater shame for such a beast to be killed than a no less healthy but smaller animal? Killing it won't harm the genetic strength of the gator population at all, a giant isn't by necessarily good or bad
  2. What's with this obsession to 'set-up' photos to make stuff look even bigger? That kid is at least 6ft behind the gator but pictured to make it look like he's touching it from beneath. It's a fecking impressive beast! No need to serve a helping of bullshit with it. You'd not want to find the bugger in ya swimming pool any way!
  3. Hard of thinking ? Leftard ? I'm quite offended at being called that - I might report you for an "ism" I haven't made up yet ! Because he MAY have done nothing illegal, doesn't mean he's done nothing wrong. His father was an acknowledged tax dodger (albeit legally), and he and his wife had offshore funds as recently as 2010. Yet here we are, forced to live under constant cuts to services and benefits, because we're told the country is skint, while him and his old boy network stash their cash away from the taxman. Unless you believe that were all in this together ? Well it is an
  4. Is hemp better than spun poly ? I keep getting foiled by the poly twisting on itself........... When I used to make my own I always preferred spun poly, the bit of stretch in it really kept those knots tight imo. Soon f****d off hemp. One thing that used to piss me off was snapping the twine when pulling a knot shut a bit too forcefully! Great making your own nets but I could never work fast enough to really make it worth while. Useful skill to have though for repairing bought nets.
  5. It depends where you are. Generally I want to have a look at the critter, just part of the deeply ingrained hunting experience I suppose. Then usually in a hedge bottom out of sight but one keeper I go out with is just happy to leave them where they drop for the carrion eaters. Very often I'll watch the carcass over the weeks out of interest, they'll have minimal sign of being scavenged for a couple weeks, then all of a sudden just disappear. Personally I reckon there isn't too much that eat fox other than the larger predators, fox and badger.
  6. What are some of the socialist policies he's enacted during his 8 years in office? I think such simple terms are thrown about a bit too thoughtlessly these days. http://www.forbes.com/sites/markhendrickson/2012/07/26/president-obamas-marxist-leninist-economics-fact-and-fiction/#477dca3d2941 Is Obama a full blown socialist, no imo. But he does have a leftward lean relative to US politics. But then I think a lot of people that label themselves as rightwing/conservative have socialist leanings when faced with the realities of liberal economics, particularly the working classes.
  7. Sunday Roast with loads of gravy and mint sauce. Lamb steaks and mushy peas. Rabbit stew and dumplies. Cheese on toast with Worcestershire sauce. Pork pie and pickle. Ploughmans. Full English on a crusty baguette with HP. If I must eat something exotic then a thai will do but British grub is wonderful!
  8. Carefull you'll get the thread deleted again lol. What have I missed? Knotting, just leaf it!
  9. Try the Sneekers. Light and comfy but you pay for it with poor ankle support.
  10. LOL, wilf you should know better than to discuss morality on here! Dare to speak some inconvenient sense and you're either tarred with the same brush or called names by folk too simple to understand life is a bit more complex than what they see. The mob wants blood today because we've all decided that this is a horribly cruel act. Do we accept the mobs will when they want our blood for the cruelty involved in hunting? Of course not, we can 'justify' our cruelty...... I'm sure in a warped way the two lads could justify theirs! Do not for one moment think that we are seen any different t
  11. Im just doing similar, I hung the skull with flesh on and checked it every now and again, maggots and beetles etc got the flesh and assume the brain. But the pelt remained, so put in a bucket under a down pipe so the water didnt go too bad, all the pelt come away very easily, have dried it out now and will get the peroxide to it. Was more like 2-3 months in the bucket and a couple suspended in a tree. I'm no expert mate but I've found it depends on the ambient temperature. Summer Roe Bucks will clean up a bit faster with it being warmer. Mind the smell though! LOL. I've also wondered a
  12. Something very attractive about North America! Lovely pictures. I've got a real urge to get over with a rifle and experience the hunting. It'd suit me very well. f**k I'm jealous. No idea how you've gone this long without chasing some critter though! I'd have met my maker at the hands of a bear or lion already! LOL
  13. Anybody tried the method of skinning/fleshing and then just leaving for a month in a bucket of water? The soft tissue just rots off. I've played with this method because I found getting off the tendons and ligaments from the base of the skull properly a twat of a job after boiling and boiling for too long to try and soften them weakens the skull.
  14. One of those civilised first world traditions that would be a shame to see fall into history. But I'm as guilty as everyone else of bringing about this change. 99% of the news I read is on the net.
  15. It probably is fair to say that mate, see it's not as bad when you get upto the Lake District and stuff socially in fact it's miles better but there is still the abuse by government across the whole of England. It's just not as clearly visible, in your face type abuse the further north or west you head from London. I was on a tube the other week at rush hour and two things struck me, one was I looked down the cartridge and I could have been anywhere in the world and two I thought "how the f**k are people living like this?" A line from a kids film came to mind, "this is not living.....it'
  16. It is and it isn't mate, if ireland was as busy as England then it wouldn't be the place it is.......England is busy and that's why it's over run with odd marks and packed to the rafters. If you live in an area here with decent links to the airport then you will see as much if the inside of your house every week working in England as most English lads do having to get up at 4:30am and not home till 7.........and you will do it at a fraction of the cost of living in England. I can get a plane cheaper than I could get a train into London and I lived 23 miles out of the city!! Living just outsi
  17. It should be the school's right to get shot of her if they feel she would damage their image. Personally I don't see the problem, it's not even unusual these days. i think the girl was naive allowing her social media to be so open though.
  18. TH stocks aren't for everyone, I like them and so have the 455 with the laminate TH stock. Can't fault it. Handle one before you commit to purchasing as you may find you prefer the sporter stock.
  19. Just reading that the crew have been released. If everything I've read is factual then that means he's just got his four hostages, three of which have been said to be British.... Is he getting ready to end it?
  20. Apparently three Britons are among the few remaining hostages! Well, on the plus side, they've only got to dispose of one terrorist and RAF Akrotiri is next door...........
  21. If they can be taken away they ain't rights, they're privileges. You can't abuse the right to free speech by saying nasty things, that's the whole point in it being a supposed right. Determination of whether something is a so called 'abuse' is solely down to whether you like what's said or not, lol. The real abuse is when 'reasonable' folk demand certain things be outlawed because its offensive. Right at that point society gives away their 'right' and accepts their privilege. Promoting careful use of 'freedom of speech' for the above reason though, is a sad reality that I'm forced to agree
  22. So we should give up partially one of the fundamental freedoms of a democratic and progressive society because some people cannot control their emotions and respond to things they don't like to hear with violence? Nah, no way, we should rid society of people that respond to things they don't like hearing with violence. Restricting free speech is in the same category as restriction religious freedom........ To accept restrictions on one is to accept restrictions on both. Neither of which I agree with. If people can't handle the implications of a liberal society, they should f**k off and if
