That's all very true but it's difficult to argue that the Lords is very democratic at all. The Lords only exists because the aristocracy was concerned that the common man's voice in a democratic system would completely destroy their own concerns. Checks and balances is a weak justification for their continued existence imo. Whether or not we like it the hunting act in all probability was and is representative of the will of the people.

Woodcock-nice to see them back
Born Hunter replied to tegater's topic in Driven, Walked Up, Rough Shooting
Had a walk round yesterday after duck and kicking hedges. By 12 the other four guns had gone home with nothing but duck in the bag. I don’t quit until the dog is knackered or until I’m satisfied so I carried on. I managed a pleasing brace of frenchmen, though not a left and right. Anyway I was after a woodcock really so made way for the only place I knew was a certainty to at least see one, a very quiet and brambly corner of woodland. The first bird was driven straight at me as my cocker ‘got on a bit’ in this very heavy cover. Missed with both barrels! Whistled the dog back and cast off -
Fair enough, I agree with most of that but I'd conclude that we are already there, as of this failed GE. The Tories have dropped it to distance themselves, if hunting lobbyists still held the same power they did then the vote would not have been dropped surely? The Tories will support country sports as the rural vote is part of their core but there is a lot of room for change in strategy there and imo what's happened here is just that.
-
Everything else you have written I completely agree with but on this point, do you not think that the hunting lobbyists have lost power now? After the failed GE I think that the Tories see such strong support for repeal as a net negative now and have/will reduce the strength of their support as a strategy to gain more centre ground socially. Its clear now the whole hunting thing shows them as very outdated. Their transformation in to New Labour is nearly complete, and frankly I cant blame them, it's what the British people seem to want.... the delusional b*****ds! LOL.

How useful a second amendment would be LOL LOL

Quite right, you stick to your Uggs. LOL But seriously, you're right vans are popular amongst that crowd. That's why I have only ever been brave enough to buy plain ones. https://www.vans.co.uk/shop/en-gb/vans-gb/authentic-shoes-8emow2 £30 in the sales.

I like the classic slip on and authentic shoe. Bought another pair of each today. Quite fancy the checkerboard pair of slip on too.

And I get the piss taken out of me!

Vans all day long for me. Got a pair of Levi 501s reduced from £90 to £27 in the sales! Even the yanks would struggle to beat that!

My Hunting Set Up For This Year...pic Heavy Warning
Born Hunter replied to Ted Newgent's topic in Big Game Hunting
Does anybody dog them from your part of canada? Seems like it'd be the way to go if they're holed up during daylight hours maybe? -
The more people are talking about it the more people want to invest. I wouldn't be surprised if the bubble starts again. The fact that this is the first thread on here about it suggests it's got legs yet.

Bitcoin is essentially no different to any other currency. It’s value as a currency only exists because people are willing to trade with it. Same as dollars and sterling. A growing market size caused the value to increase, same as any other currency. Investors have cottoned on to this and have been buying bitcoins as though it were a commodity. This happens with currencies all the time. The difference here is that economists believe that the value of bitcoin is dominantly driven by investors buying it as a commodity rather than people trading with it as a currency. So it’s believed the great a

I agree, not the foggiest what all this is about. Nothing to see here folks, move on...

Yeah cheers for explaining to me the definition of progress... The bit you don't seem to have grasped is the metric by which you measure progress and the fact that it might be subjective. I'll leave you to have a patronising argument with anybody else on this forum.

There will come a time very soon when this technology is pennies and everyone with an FAC has all of their rifles equiped with it. The difference with this is that the animal doesn't even know it's being hunted, they can't adapt to the shooting pressure, they just get wiped out, I've seen it first hand. It's embarrassingly easy and soon everyone will have it. Like when the technological leap of the motor vehicle was introduced to the white hunters of Africa, I believe the widespread use of image intensifier, thermal and whatever future advancements are to come will be detrimental to the sport.
-
No, imo it's not progress. Like I said they're a useful tool to some.

I liked that they were tight with their boar, not 10ft away safely baying. That boar was a bit lively but they were pushing him, just not actually holding, I like that personally. As you say I'm sure they knew the score, but personally I like to see dogs learn and adapt like that. No need to be stitching all your dogs up, LOL. Maybe they'd be braver and take hold if it was necessary? That'd be smart but either way I liked them. Though, I don't go hunting to see dogs be hard/brave, I do it to see them drop game on the grass with efficiency and style, sometimes that requires hardness/braver

Makes ya wonder if they'd find their voice when alone with one for half an hour before anyone can get to them... I'm a bit dubious seeing two slipped. Also wonder if they'd be able to find in the first place. They look lumbering hulks in comparison to the first three bayers, maybe a case of being bred to do a job that requires nothing but balls for a minute or two? Its funny, we're all different I suppose, I was more taken with the three bayers.

Yeah

@forest of dean redneck Jesus Christ the series is graphic! A hell of a plot but the writer has a mind darker than Satan himself.

I've seen it happen. These are great bits of kit and make life very easy but I do fear too many sport hunters are/will use these simply to get more. Then they need more permission and do the same again. I suppose the same was said when lamping was invented... you really can steralise ground with this new technology though, it's not progress.

I could slice left over honey glazed ham and eat on toast with mustard for days. Xmas ham is the best part of it all.

Scrub that, Avatar. Don't think I've watched this since it came out eight years ago!
