Reality of global warming for apex predator
Born Hunter replied to THE STIFFMEISTER's topic in General Talk
The team that took the photos have commented after getting a bit of stick for not doing owt from all the townies. Basically there was f**k all they could do. -
Yes and probably yes. Just look at the trade and economy figures, it's clear as day they have the advantage and they are behaving as such. Our (UK & EU) objectives are mutually exclusive, there's no compromise to be had without one side crossing their own ideological red lines. Problem then is that 99% of our establishment (HM Gov' & Parliament) only became pro brexit after the referendum. Their objectives aren't the same as ours, there objectives are to separate as much as possible while protecting the economy at all costs. Let's be honest with that strategy you haven't a ho

Right wing of the Tory party aren't in power fella, they're UKIP.

None of them are part of a political union/federation at all similar in magnitude and complexity as the EU. What is going on here is more like Texas/Cali succeeding the USA than simple international politics. We've become so intertwined in Europe that they have us at a massive disadvantage at the negotiating table. I can't even think of a situation where any of the above nations have been in that had them at a similar dissadvatage. Perhaps when Japan surrendered to the US In the face of overwelming military might!

I have similar conclusions. I think this one has half choke and when I patterned it would really consider 25 yards max but equally it throws a good pattern. I've had a Mossberg pump before which had full choke but that didn't pattern we'll, I got rid in the end as it had extractor problems which the gunsmith wasn't interested in. -
I think one BIG reason for the apathy and frankly disillusion we see from the electorate currently is down the the perpetual two party system. It's unbreakable by its nature. Within such a system, other than in quite unique instances, the only way to get change is from within one of the two parties. Competing with them is useless other than as a pressure group. I've played with the thought of binning the Lords and replacing it with some sort of house of representatives, which would be designed not to represent constituencies but each party proportionally, determined by a separate election

Being honest I don't mind apathy, I mind when apathy turns up at the ballot. Folks that don't have an interest in politics are right to stay out of it. Folks that barely have any interest but still vote are dangerous, they're easily manipulated and bias democracy towards ignorance.

I'm not sure there's a great deal to discuss anymore. We (UK & EU) can't even agree on what the EU demand as the fundamentals. Can we really expect very much? This is paradigm shifting stuff, none of em really have much of a clue. The only ones that might are still considered fringe politicians. That seems to be the way politics works, we have to pull the pin out of the grenade and toss it before anyone takes any notice! I really don't think there's much chance of a compromise to be had without basically making the whole thing a giant waste of time. Tbh I'm far more concerne

I get what you are saying but i honestly dont think you can say you know what remaining will be. Frankly id predict it would be far worse than that, they're all minor things in comparison. But it's still mearly a prediction and risk assessment.
-
I believe the same which does nothing but make me more willing to take risk. Also, everyone is talking as though brexit is the only option that has risk associated. Every option has a risk associated. Brexit risks the economy, remain risks our democracy.

Realistically, a load of businesses become uneconomical due to tariffs, unemployment increases, cost of living increases, tax revenues drop leading to a reduction in public services/spending/gov, civil unrest, terrorism in NI, eventual collapse of the union, rise of hard line socialism, students having to get visas for their gap years. No guts no glory!

We end up still in the EU! Give me the collapse of civilisation over that any day. LOL

Recently purchased a 410 myself. What sort of range are you looking at as a max and whats your experience with choke on 410s? Bit if fun with my terrier... -
Similarly, I don't actually hear anything but my mind is obviously expecting it because I feel something in my ears, like I'm expecting to have to process something loud and impulsive. I'm not sure if that's what they mean? I definitely wouldn't mistake such an experience for an actual sound though. It is however a good example of why individual accounts need to be treated with suspicion when making a judgement. The human mind has a habit of not accurately recording an event.

It's all very logical to say we should be negotiating to avoid the catastrophic.... I've taken the same stance. It's very easy to then imply anybody that wants to just walk is stupid. Frankly it was the same argument being pushed on those wanting to leave before the referendum and before we had started to seriously talk about options. Thing is, there are plenty of folks, perhaps a growing number that are so disenchanted with the political system that they only trust the most simple option and they're still willing to risk hardship for it, expecting it even. To them there is no other optio

Sounds more like a velociraptor than a dog

With respect, you're presenting evidence for us to assess. You can't expect us to just accept your own conclusion on evidence only you have been privy to.
-
The chances are those prints are a dog. I didn't say the badger was killed by badgers, simply eaten by them. There isn't sufficient evidence to even hazard a guess what killed it.
-
That print of rabids clearly has nails. It's a dog. As for the badger, it looks to have been eaten by other badgers.

I was a bit younger than you but basically in the same position. You'll find what you want with enough drive and a few folks to point you in the right direction. Not everyone is born into it or taken out by their dad from a young age.

If you're drawn to it you just know. No one walked me into this. I agree though about comiting with ferrets dogs and shit. That's too much commitment for someone who's green to it. There's many different flavours of fieldsports...

I need to emigrate! LOL

Walt Longmire wouldn't stand for any of that! In all seriousness, I saw the headline yesterday and seeing Utah mentioned thought of Chris from THL. My understanding is that it's another 'undo what Obama did' jobby, in addition to the money side?

I believe that that is due to oxygen exposure, or lack of, and can be reversed. There's a business opportunity there for someone...

Why have SbS shotguns gone out of fashion.
Born Hunter replied to Meece's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Not an issue if you are switched on and select the second barrel. I've done exactly that more than once. It just requires you to be mindful of it. Every time I'm mounting the gun, my thumb is slipping the safety and I'm making a decision which barrel I want first. If you shoot enough and drill yourself to always use the safety it becomes second nature.
