How much 1000 12g carts weigh?
jackinbox99 replied to sidrana7's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Ive just weighed 1000 28g 7.5`s and on my scales they come in at 90.4lb which is around 41kg. Cheers. -
Dont you need something which attaches to your rifle scope tho? As I can imagine you`d spot a massive bunny with the night vision but not be able to see jack through the rifle scope?

A friend of mine also hates guns and refused to let her bf keep them in their house. He got around this by having a gun cabinet at his friends house where he kept the weapons. I dont know whether or not there is a rule that you have to actually live in the house where they are stored or not. Best check with your local FAO and get some advice I think!

Wheres all the rabbits gone?!
jackinbox99 replied to jackinbox99's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Yep, but i have not shot that many that they cant breed. Ive only had about 12 from this field so its not as if ive nuked them, and yet used to see dozens. Could be myksi as 2 out of those 12 had signs of it, but i wouldnt have thought it would spread that quick. I tend to leave the fields for a few weeks then go back. Id try lamping, but its a bit too close to 1 road for me to want to do that really. I`ll leave it a little while and keep an eye on the field. Still, either way, the land owner is well pleased as she things i must have done a cracking job! lol. -
Is it just me? Ive been down one of my permissions a few times recently and where previously id see at least a dozen bunnies and bag 2 or 3, now im lucky if i see any. The land owner also has commented that they havent seen any recently. Also, the local roundabout near me used to have no end of bunnies on it. Around 6 could be seen whenever you drove past any time of the day / night. Now, none there either. Where have they all gone? On holiday? Its so anoying, spending 3 hours and not seeing a single rabbit. Anyone else got this problem?

Nice one! That rabbit is nearly as big as he is! Hopefully its the first of many!

Excellent right up and a couple of things i could relate to! One of my permissions is a few fields near a by pass, so i have to be carefull where im shooting and make sure i dont aim towards the roads. The other week, i was walking around when a police car flew past on the by pass. Next minute, a police helicopter is hovering above me as im laying in the field waiting for bunnies to come out. Most unsettling. Luckily, it hovered for a while, then flew off, so whether or not it was after me i dont know! Secondly, i got 1 bunny the other week, i stalked up on it using some hay bales as c

Have to say i would not fancy a graveyard for a permission to save my life. Id be proper bricking it. Something just isnt right about those places! Proper creepy!!!!!!

A couple of hours on the rape stubble
jackinbox99 replied to Ratcherman's topic in Pigeon Shooting & Decoying
Not bad at all for a couple of hours, plenty of meet on them pigeons for you!!! -
I agree. Whats the point of shooting something if you are not going to eat it. I shoot no end of rabbits and my parents freezer is full, my freezer is full and if theres any more i give them to a mate for his falcon to eat. Had to laugh the other day, i was sorting a rabbit out in the kitchen ready for my tea and a pigeon landed in my garden. I grabbed the air rifle, shot it, and had pigeon for tea instead, the bunny went in a pie the following day. Talk about waste not want not.

nice one! What 410 do you have, it looks like an o/u?
-
What technique do you use for kangoo shooting? Resting gun on drivers wing mirror, or do you shoot out of passengers window using the door as a rest?
-
Cracking bag for a quick wander out! Sounds like your permission is much like mine, you can catch quite a few by supprise when you first stumble accross them, but then they scarper!
-
lol!!!! for a minute i thought you had shot the glider down!

Varys from shoot to shoot really as to what time is the best. The local roundabout near me has bunnies sitting there eating no matter what time of the day or night i drive past! Even if its hammering down with rain they are still sitting out there eating the grass. I hit one of my permissions at any random time of the day and always get 2 bunnies within the first 30mins. Like you say, they then scarper for a while, but I always find just wandering from one end of the field to the other you will find bunnies who havent realised you are there. Traditionally though, they say bunnies come

Spot on, what a shot!

What a cracking shot! Spot on. I got a 45 yard bunny last week, not quite as accurate as yours, but still a good hit and its in my freezer now. Sounds like the range finder was a good investment, its quite hard trying to judge distances. I find myself missing 20 yard shots or less, simply because even though i aim quite low, it very often isnt low enough.

I bought a B2 like the one in the 2nd picture, brand spanking new from a gunshop for £30 about 3 years ago! Have to say, mines a noisey gun and on the chrono only puts out 7lb! But, it is supprisingly acurate!

Hi! Good luck with the SGC. You mention quite a few different uses for which you`d use a shotgun. Clays, rough shooting, pigeons, crows etc... If you want just the one gun for all use, id tend to go for a semi automatic. This would have the advantage that you have reduced recoil bearing in mind your age, 3 shots rather than 2, and can use the same gun for everything. You can pick up a new hatson escort for around £300 or a 2nd hand older model Beretta. Alternatively, you could go for a nice 2nd hand o/u. Maybe something like a lanber which should be within that price range. Id

glad it wasnt me shooting

I love the clothes they are wearing tho. High vis jackets and even a bright orange baseball cap. Nice & subtle! -
Ive had the same problem before. 25 yard shot, rabbit somersaults 2ft in air, lays there pretending to be dead, then when you get to them, they get up and leg it. Only thing i came to the conclusion was that my shot wasnt 100% accurate, whilst still being a head shot, or that it was just adrenlin kicking in. These days, i usually leg it to any rabbit ive shot, grab it and wring its neck just to be on the safe side.

yeah, wouldnt be a bad life would it, from that job i was also offered therir hedge cutting, £100 a day! £100 a day to cut their hedge? Christ, im doing labouring atm for 11 hours a day and only getting £50 a day! Maybe i should dust my hedge cutter off!

Nice one! Nothing like a new permision is there... rabbits are totally unprepared and not expecting you! I find after a few visits they get jumpy and hide.

lol! its amazing how threads can loose the original posters question and move onto other things isnt it! I`ve not had chance to go rabbiting this last week, but will take all the good advice with me! As for trying a 100m shot, i wouldnt even begin to try that!
