As above. The guns are the same, but the 410 has the multishot as standard. You can get a rowan engineering multishot adapter for the 400, which from memory costs around £50, but even then its a manually operated magazine, rather than the automatic feed the 410 has. For target shooting, the s400 would be ideal, however, for out in the field, i prefer the advantages of the multishot s410 every time.

How many shots per charge
jackinbox99 replied to zak-s410's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Depends on whether its the classic or carbine. My mate who has a FAC carbine gets around 40->50 shots from his on a full charge. -
need a new springer
jackinbox99 replied to nathgoon's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
To throw a spanner in the works, my mate has a synthetic gammo springer in .22 and its awesome. Ive chrono`d it at 11.5/11.6 and its very very accurate. I believe he paid around £150 for it, which in my eye is a great price for such a powerful accurate gun. -
Before you think the worst, no i didnt shoot a cat with my s410! Happened to be near one of my permissions this evening, just before it was getting dark, so i thought id pop in and see if any bunnys were around. Its been quite quiet recently there, although loads of signs of bunnys still active, incl a massive new warren id noticed. I think the bunnys are only coming out when dark now, so i`ll have to dig my lamp out and have a go soon. Anyhow, i jump over the gate and at the moment the land owner has let their horse have free run of the fields, so its quite hard to spot the odd bunny

I also go for the head on pigeons. Nice clean kill and the meat does taste good! -
what pellets suits YOUR gun best
jackinbox99 replied to 8shot's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
AA Diablo Field in 552 for my s410k seem to work the best. -
How long is a bit of string? Id recommend trying a few out and googling reviews on them before deciding. When i was in the same boat as you earlier in the year, my personal choice was between the s410k and the hw100. I decided on the s410 in the end, mainly because its made in england, and i found it lighter & better fitting for myself. They were also cheaper 2nd hand than the hw100. Id definately get a 2nd hand gun either way, as you do save a lot of money on new. Looking around atm, you can get a s410k 2nd hand for about £400, which in my eye is a bargin. These days, nearly all

I met up with John over the w/end and chrono`d his gun for him. It was pushing out a very healthy 11.35lb average, with max 11.65 and min 11.27. If anyone else needs theirs testing around Coventry or Peterborough (i flit between the 2 places atm) then drop me a PM and if im free i`ll happily help out. Cheers.

yeah, sometimes you can get a right bargain from a car boot sale, but unfortunately the ones local to me now just seem to be selling all sorts of crap!

Are they really £650 now?! I bought the 410 version of the hushpower mossberg pump earlier on in the year and I got it for about £400 brand new. Cartridge wise, its quieter than a normal shotgun when using normal cartridges, but even quieter when you use the eley subsonics. Some people reckon they cant tell much difference between the magnum subsonics and normal 2 1/2 cartridges, but when you stand a distance away you can tell. I find mine is actually quieter when in the middle of a field. If your too near hedgerows or buildings then the noise seems to be applified. Looking back,

Excellent load of bunnies there! Ive noticed less and less appearing on my permissions, even though theres loads of evidence that they are still about. Ferretting might be the way forward!
-
excellent! should be good fun!
-
Thats excellent news!!!! I bet you cant wait till spring now!
-
lol, some bunnys just dont seem to care when your zeroing in. Ive had the same thing happen to me before when ive been zeroing... bunnys hop out just behind my targets! they must be a bit stupid, or suicidal! Good shooting!
-
Brilliant shot! Ive no end of magpies around my way, but unfortunatley they seldom land where i can get a safe shot at them.
-
Nice one. Although the ghost bit is a bit scary. Id have said it was someone walking a dog or something, but thats unlikely at that time of night.
-
excellent start, thats bound to impress the farmer. ive noticed 9/10 of the ones i tend to get these days are bucks. Where are all the female rabbits?!
-
Just to add, as above bloke said, dont rule out a semi. My first shotgun was a beretta 391 semi. Ive still got it and its always the first i pick out of the cabinet now. Its a jack of all trades. Ideal for clays, game, you name it, it will do it. Its a bit out of your price range, but with the escort semi being very cheap these days, a semi might be something for you to consider....
-
As above. Depends what you want it for as to whether you want o/u or s/b/s. Also depends upon your personal preference. Traditionally its been said o/u for clays and sbs for field work, but most of the farmers i know use o/u for everything. Price wise you should have no trouble at all finding a decent cheap gun for less than £200. Ive bought / sold several nice guns for less than that over the last few years. The baikal you link to looks good, although I havent looked at any others like that so cant comment on the price. With regards to baikals themselves, I did have a baikal o/u (not

It looks like its about to take a good dump in your gunbag there! lol. My missus always has to hold me back whenever we go down the petshop and I start muttering about "cor theres a lot of meat there on that giant bunny" in front of all the little kids.
-
Agree with the above. I serviced mine a few weeks back and it really was very easy and straight forward. Didnt really need many tools and it all went very smoothly. Gun appears to be performing even better now since the service.
-
Id second that. Mine is already starting to have rust spots from my various outings out. I keep it well oiled now, but its a bit too late i fear.
-
Think weather had something to do with it. I was out Wed night and there was no wind or nothing, you could hear a pin drop. Needless to say not many bunnys were out and it was nearly impossible to get within range of them without them scarpering! I find a slightly windy night is better.
-
Id agree with the above. Sounds like an o/u is the way forward and would be ideal for clays / pigeons / pheasant shoots. You can pick a nice one up fairly cheap. For example, I bought a brand new lanber o/u for around £450 a few years back and im more than happy with it. For rabbits, i tend to use an air rifle, again you can pick up a nice pcp for around £350. So for £800 you have 2 guns. If a semi wasnt a problem on the pheasant shooting, then I would definately recommend a semi, as they are so easy to use and versitile. Again, you could pick up a cheap escort hatsan for £300, or

How long is a piece of string! You can get a cracking, very powerfull and accurate springer for around £150 second hand. If you want a PCP then everyone has their own personal preference. I personally went for an s410, purely because I liked the feel of it and prefered it to the hw100. In addition it was cheaper than the hw100. I also went for .22 rather than .177. Again, just a personal preference. For around £350->£400 you can get a cracking s410 - including the scope & silencer. Dont forget on top of that price you have to budget £120 for a decent stirrup pump. Mine has s
